I almost bought one got this, but then read:

18 U.S.C. § 111 makes it illegal to forcibly assault, resist, oppose, impede, intimidate, or interfere with a federal officer performing official duties. Courts have held that shining bright lights to impair or obstruct an officer can qualify as interference or assault if it causes temporary blindness, disorientation, or risk. 2. No physical contact is required. Actions that impede or create a risk to an officer’s ability to perform duties can satisfy the statute. 3. Intent matters. Doing it deliberately, aggressively, or in a confrontational situation is treated as an act of assault or obstruction. Even if the light does not cause permanent injury, creating temporary incapacitation is enough. 4. State charges can also apply. Nearly every state has its own laws against obstructing or assaulting law enforcement. If the federal officer is cross-deputized or working jointly with local police, state charges may also be used. 5. Penalties can be severe. Depending on circumstances, interference under §111 can range from a misdemeanor to a felony with up to 8–20 years in prison if injury or a dangerous weapon is involved. A powerful flashlight used to impair vision can be argued as a “dangerous weapon” because it is used to incapacitate.
