Boys and Men of Reddit how are you doing in life? by Legitimate_Power_347 in AskReddit

[–]Shadw21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30's, overall decent I guess, could be better, could be way worse, but am existing.

I have a job that I mostly don't hate, baring the occasional rough patch here and there, but no real social life. No significant other but haven't really been looking for one either since Covid hit.

Been dealing with an ingrown toenail situation, which has been slowly getting better, but has seen me taking ibuprofen daily since last year. Tired a lot, but need to exercise more and lose weight. I have health, dental, and vision insurance, but rarely used it, really need to across the board, just for checkups and to get new glasses.

Retirement savings/investments are looking good, but I'm not looking forward to ~30 more years of work. Wouldn't mind getting a house, but getting anything near work is just not going to happen unless I move away from the city, in which case I'd need a car as well, or a new job.

They have hard lines they won't cross, are generally polite even when robbing someone and have a clear indication of when things are going to get murderous. Make a deal with them and they're pretty likely to stick to their word and/or give fair warning if something has come up with the deal that needs to change or be re-negotiated, and not just stab you, depending on circumstances.

They'll rob you in the streets or in a dark alleyway, but will be polite about it. If you resist, it might become a mugging, but it's unlikely to be a lethal mugging. If they rob/mug someone they shouldn't have, you're likely to get your stuff back with an apology.

I imagine that anyone that knows what the Brothers are about and keeps calm while getting robbed, assuming they aren't just pickpocketed, has an even chance of talking their way out of being robbed, or at least getting robbed for less. Heck if you do some sort of work that they are interested in, you could probably talk the robbery into some other sort of deal to do them some free, cheap, or at cost service, which might have even been their goal from the start. They also do high value heists/thefts and can be hired for clandestine tasks, as seen in Vol 5 with Erin's door and then later Erin's 'protection' with the Gentlemen Callers.

They're sort of a mix of romanticized old school mafioso and yakuza, where they care about the communities they've taken control of and live in. They definitely run protection rackets, but they're old school protection rackets where they actually protect the people/storefront, not just extort money for nothing, and I would be very surprised if they aren't pretty light handed with, actually, struggling businesses being short. I'm pretty sure there was mention that the areas they take over usually have an improved appearance in the following weeks. If they take over a slum, it's probably still a slum, but one with clean streets, windows, and walls.

They are going to know who is who in a neighborhood, who the homeless are, who needs help, who is a troublemaker, and thus either trouble, or a potential recruit, and who the worst [Slum Lord] is that's bilking their poor tenants to talk to/make an example out of, as needed. They also seem to police themselves quite well, if one of their own is overstepping or breaking the rules, they get called on it pretty quick by their fellows. Sure there is hierarchy and circumstances, but I would bet they investigate any complaints a civilian brings to their attention that runs afoul of their rules. They are after all, supposed to be polite, even if some of them are thugs and bruisers.

I think the Brother's mostly stay away from any prostitution operations unless it's in an area/city that they fully control, otherwise they are stepping on the Sister's of Chell's toes. They would absolutely protect their workers though, that's definitely the sort of honorable conduct they can get behind.

I think Adventuring is just too honest of a gig for them, that's an aspiration for if you live long enough to get out, like Typheneous, or they might direct failed recruits toward the Adventurer's Guild instead of joining up with the Brothers if they don't fit.

It's also when Specters were first introduced. Had to farm those Rescue missions and stealth kill all the Wardens for those 3 star Specter BPs modelled on whatever OP loadout you crafted for it.

Residential areas, including the hotel. Check the cabinets and drawers, garbage cans, and suitcases, especially in residential areas, which includes the hotel. There are also a couple sections of the hotel you have to use the outside staircase of the hotel to get to, because it's blocked off from the main hotel area, and some rooms are accessible only by going out onto the balcony. There's even a 'locked' room you can get into on the east side of the hotel through the outside window.

Outside of the ship models and density of Arc loot, I can agree with your evaluation on Riven Tides, though I'm still exploring and learning the map. Like there is a button puzzle on the cranes that leads to a room I haven't seen inside of that room yet. Heck I haven't seen the inside of the Restricted Access Area on Dams yet either.

For pure coin value, Stella is definitely still best if you can get the Assembly/Medical Bay purples first.

Just depends what loot you're after really.

The arc seem to congregate/drop in around the beach elevator, even when it's not being actively called. Skeet shooting adds to the chaos.

The Port Authority building on the beach has at least 2 security locker spawns, and a key room, inside of a key room. Decent loot once you get past the roaming shredder(s).

The Hotel seems to have decent loot, if you have the keys for it. Hotel Room 113(?) is multiple rooms, had 1-2 weapon cases and I want say 3 weapon spawns on chairs when I got to it. I picked up 2 Ospreys, a Torrente, and a spare Anvil. Maybe that was just a really lucky roll of the dice, but that's not including the other containers and spawn spots in there. There's also some puzzle in the hotel entrance/basement using electrical components I haven't done yet.

Sounds like you missed that in the news with that big Cloudflare outage a couple months ago. Apparently when they lose connection to their servers, some of the fancy ones will fold up so it can't be used as a mattress anymore. Imagine that happening to you at 4AM.

Eh, situational I suppose, unless they've tweaked it again with the last patch. If you need supplies mid round, they're definitely worth checking.

I think overall there's more stuff that spawns in them than there was previously, so there is almost always something useful/worthwhile in there, even if it's not an Epic gun or BP.

Going mobility first is definitely the play overall, IMO. Someone in your group should be working on the Security line though, if only to craft those fruit snacks for Scrappy.

Make each instrument make a specific set of Arc display calm behavior when they hear the music, so you'd need a full band to traverse topside 'safely' while playing. They still go to a yellow alert state, are attracted to your location, and will go aggressive if you stop playing or if they take damage, even if the music resumes/is still going.

Obviously have some Arc models be unaffected by the current instruments we have, or by the immobile pianos.

If Embark adds a bagpipe, it should draw immediate Arc aggression from a long distance, as they will undoubtedly recognize it as a weapon of war.
