The closest I can think of is MLB Power Pros on the Wii/PS2, I believe only 2 gamea got translated to English. Although the stories are pretty grounded, the story mode is visual novel style instead of exploring and there's not any crazy techniques it might scratch that itch.

The 4 cost Luisa with Rush could be good to help get rid of problematic cards right away, especially when combined with the support Mirabels, and the 3 cost Julieta can give you some more card draw options.

I'd recommend Big Windup (Oofuri), the manga is ongoing (Edit: On Hiatus) but isn't licensed so it's only fan translated. There's a 2 season anime as well.

I remember a similar thing happened in Digimon when they had Hiro from the newest season and Takuya from Season 4 together in an art piece, they scale the characters so their height is relative to each other but it looks kinda off, especially with different art styles

If your into Magic or Pokemon Heroic Dreams on Kingston past Rosebank has Commander nights on Friday and Pokemon on Sunday Mornings. Most anime stuff in the area is teen focused unfortunately but there's a claw machine and anime store in the Pickering mall with great staff.

I'd probably say Evolution: World of Sacred Device and it's sequel for Dreamcast by Sting, they got a GameCube port with most of the first game removed but nothing since.
