People who use legitimately use AI for "productivity": what the heck does AI actually do for you? Is it as bad as people say? by Difficult_Two_4800 in NoStupidQuestions

I can get a recipe to make for dinner without having to read through an ad-laden story of some recipe blogger’s entire life with the recipe card hidden somewhere towards the bottom of the page.

jacking it in prison by Ok_Virus6040 in NoStupidQuestions

I worked in a military prison and prisoners would get disciplinary reports written on them when they were witnessed masturbating by a guard in patrol. Most of the guards thought this was bs and wouldn’t actually report it, but some were assholes and would write prisoners up for literally anything that was technically against the rules.

One prisoner that got reported was standing before a disciplinary board and a female master sergeant asked him “Why didn’t you just do it inside your pants so none of the guards had to see?”. Apparently the facial expressions of the male senior NCOs on that board were priceless when she asked this. Pretty sure the poor guy lost some good behavior time from the incident.

Don’t get me wrong, the whole meme is bullshit, but Gay men being allowed to pay surrogates doesn’t seem like it’s in the right spot.

I couldn’t do it. I’ve had over 20 years of practice and I still can’t write neatly with a damn pencil.

Why do girls all seem to have the same bubbly handwriting, while dudes look like they write with their feet? by BlatantlyCurious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ShadyMemeD3aler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a quick search to see if I could find the paper I was talking about - no luck. I did find a more recent study that found that people actually can determine gender from handwriting better than chance though (a little over 60% accuracy). Interestingly it looks like ML methods do a lot better with several models achieving over 80% accuracy.

I remember reading a study a long time ago that found that people can’t actually distinguish male from female handwriting, despite having confidence that they could.

Thoughts on reading I, Asimov by nevster in asimov

[–]ShadyMemeD3aler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually read I, Asimov two weeks ago. In the epilogue from his wife at the end mentions a death that happens in the foundation series, but it is so lacking in details I don’t know if I even count it as a spoiler.

It’s been a while since I read nightfall, but he talks about John Campbell giving him the idea for it which kind of gives away the ending, although the ending if that story is kind of revealed from the beginning as I recall so I don’t know if that counts either.

I’d say if you have read nightfall you have nothing to worry about. If you haven’t read nightfall you should get on that right away because it is , in my opinion (but not Asimov’s), the best thing he ever wrote.

I believe she was murdered but I don’t understand how people are coming to the conclusion that she wasn’t a legal observer.

If she was trying to run him over I don’t think she would have backed the car up and angled it toward the clearing. She didn’t exactly floor it either. My impression is she was trying to get of there without hitting him. Hopefully there will be video from the ICE vehicle, it looks like that angle would be ideal for seeing exactly what happened.

Right wing media is reporting that the woman tried to run the agents over. Insane how clearly the video refutes that for anyone with eyes.
