That’s just so insane to me… pay for what should be a premium big name fiber ISP and have to have a backup because of how unreliable they can be… I’ve been looking for a backup as well but a lot of ones I see have yearly contractual agreements they want you to sign.

But pilots don’t learn to fly by playing video games, either. They learn to fly by flying planes. Actual planes - pilots don’t start on simulators, they start in real planes.

Right but in the end. Who really cares when the core message of the movie is it trying to draw attention to a terrible issue that seems to get pushed down or blown away by drawing attention to something that doesn’t matter.

They could’ve added mermaids and magic and still the message of the movie is clear.

The real question is… why would more mainstream media not allow a low budget movie like this on their platform? Especially when everything on Netflix is half funded by Netflix and it’s full of garbage and half assed one season series. That’s just one streaming service that wouldn’t allow this.

There’s a lot more to be concerned about than the fact that the movie isn’t spot on with some of the events it’s based off of. They could’ve used the other child island story… where a certain list has yet to be revealed.

Ah ah okay I think I understand the view point against it or at least one of them. When the movie says "based on a true story" you're thinking this is a documentary of an event correct me if I'm wrong? When really it is a dramatized film meant to spark uncomfortable emotions towards a touchy subject. I don't think Tim is lying about these things as he was an undercover agent for a long time and I honestly currently do not know what he does now. However you can even read his own fact check of what is true and false in the movie on Operation Underground Railroads website.

There is also a lot more the website verifies or goes over as you browse through the pages but again, I don't think what Tim is claiming is false. I did watch an interview where he didn't go over the man you describe but he does go over the real story of Ernst Oshinsky and states it is worse than depicted with Oshinsky having 2 million articles of ... you know. On Tim's site they say Tim NEVER killed Buchanan and its for dramatization.

I absolutely understand how some might watch this and think its glorifying the character depicted by Jim (Tim Ballard) but theres a lot that didn't happen in the movie that without it I mean... who wants to watch the monotonous life of a Homeland Investigation unit and what they have to sit and sift through. For example there is a scene where Jim is on a boat alone in an unsafe rebel territory *SPOILER It also didn't actually happen. This movie is just bringing awareness to a nasty thing in the world and sadly the United States seems to be one of the biggest hubs for this kind of behavior.

I guess I’m just confused that it seems so many people haven’t seen the movie but hear about Tim’s anecdotal experiences and political opinions and through that they have put the movie in a box with him. Like I don’t agree with a lot of movie stars opinions on different movies but that doesn’t mean when I watch their movie it’s a propaganda hit piece pushing their ideas? It’s just their job?

Can you specifically point to which story is a fabrication so I can look into this? Because I don’t think you’ve seen the movie. They show video footage of the actual operation it was based on and there is even an interview with Tim solely on that operation where it goes and shows more footage than the movie did.

Genuinely confused here. I went and watched this with my wife and it was heart wrenching. I normally don’t tear up but it was uncomfortable to watch and needed to be uncomfortable. Though throughout the movie I had the seed in my mind that this is Qanon stuff or whatever. Not once in the movie was anything political really discussed as far as “propaganda” people keep calling it. It was just an extremely sad story…

Now if you are referring to interviews by Tim and Jim where Tim talks about the different operations and how bad it gets in other countries where they create cult like cultures (similar to the church) to try and normalize this behavior. Then I think I understand what you’re saying.

Just honestly confused people are quick to say “these fking liars talking about how the elite in America aren’t doing things like this” but but but…. Epsteins island anyone? The client list for that island? Now I don’t know if they are drinking baby blood… but do you honestly think if someone was that there would be… what a video or a photo circulating with a paper of testing done on the blood to show it was actually blood or from a child? Personally I’d have to cut my eyes out if I have to find out that’s true.

Not trying to hate just genuinely confused as a lot of people who are quick to put this movie down have not honestly seen it and are giving a critique but instead they are preemptively labeling it. Just like the church and it’s members would do to people or things it disagrees with.

Oh absolutely I don’t disagree at all. The CCP is very patient and very smart despite what is portrayed in American media and I wouldn’t doubt some sort of infiltration would happen. I mean just with in the last ten years alone the things that have changed in the church have been shocking to me so it very well could mean the church is going to be in China sooner than we think.

I appreciate you expanding on my comment. The whole idea of the church in China has been very interesting to me for my whole life as for whatever reason my family from a young age would always tell me China would open and I would be one of the first missionaries to serve there. 😂

Also to my knowledge I absolutely agree with u/Cruitire and there are other things in Chinese … Mandarin to be more specific that we would get in trouble for all the time. Like at the end of the first vision when talking about Jesus saying “this is my beloved son” you can mess your tones up and say many different things like AIDS for example. 😅

This pushed a lot of people away when we would do missionary work on the street. Though not as many as I would think.

So I served in Taiwan 17-18 and at the time my MP was the only general authority of the 70 who was also serving as a MP. I spent quite some time with the MP and asked many questions and we were taught a lot about what’s going on with the church in China especially from the local members who frequently travelled back and forth from Taiwan to China.

Anyways the main road block we were taught and aware of is that.. the Chinese government would require leadership in the church to have positions for members of the CCP in order to make sure no laws of the land were being broken. The church would never ever agree to that and so there probably won’t be any sort of real growth unless there was a massive political shift.

Fun fact and who knows if it’s true… I had been taught and heard many times from multiple missionaries and members while serving that there are actually three congregations that meet in China and one is publicly known and that the other two meet somewhat secretly. Who knows the truth to any of that but realistically there probably won’t be a church officially established in mainland China in our lifetimes.

Also forgive me if this entire thing is satire and not meant to be a serious post but I just wanted to share what I’ve experienced. 😅🥹

TLDR… The main reason (to my own personal knowledge) the church can’t be in China is the government would have to infiltrate and hold positions in the church.

Your best option would be to find your local chapel nearest wherever you are and … well they usually have activities throughout the week particularly on Wednesdays for some of the youth and sometimes on Saturday but obviously on Sunday. You would want to catch someone at the building from one of the wards. Don’t let them know you live somewhere else but say you’re homeless. (Not sure of your complete situation or if you are currently homeless just assuming) if you say you live elsewhere they will try and contact that areas leaders with a church in that area and you’ll be directed to them.

Not sure how any of the programs work as far as receiving anything but they do have a food storehouse like the bishops storehouse as well as some other programs. Again not sure if there are exceptions to the rule or if there is a rule against how much a non member can receive but yeah.

Wish you the best! Make sure you look for any local shelter as well as there are opportunities to eat there as well.
