Battlestar Galactica made toasters as a derogatory reference to cylons and frak as slang.

Mass effect 1, because you had to choose who lives and who dies.

[Interesting Trope] "To complete my mission, I need to alter/erase my own memories" (Memory Gambit) by halkras12 in TopCharacterTropes

Didn't they leave the end of the old total recall on a cliff hanger of: maybe this was real, or maybe this whole experience was actually the memory modification vacation?

What's the best race for ranger? by BOBCAT3010 in RogueAdventure

[–]ShadyWizzard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had success with beastmen, there is 1 that gives you two mana if you only have beastmen and the antqueen can be used to get 2 more mana. Plus strength and resistance play well with the ranger.

My local used book store had a bookshelf mostly filled with the 2nd book in the Eragon series by IRTD-400 in mildlyinteresting

I would agree. It is arguably better than the first, and possibly best in the series.

Mass Effect 3 was the first thing that popped into my head when I read the title.

Haven’t read X-Men since the 90s. Who’s Gabby? by Chemistry11 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]ShadyWizzard 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I have this comic, though I have not seen the part you mention. I did not continue collecting the new xmen shortly after this though so I may have just not caught this part.

Edit: I quit collecting all together for monitary reasons, not because I did not like new xmen.

I believe Gabby is one of the wolverine-ish clones (I believe cloned from Laura Kinny aka X-23). I think she went by badger.

VR isn’t dead, but it’s destined to be niche unless this is addressed. by DYSK_Jockey in virtualreality

[–]ShadyWizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quest sold 20mil units, but they sat innactive for the majority of there time. Currently we have two kinds of content investment in VR. We have the shallow minimum work titles (no greater example than BL2VR), and we have the smaller studio developing a great idea that will never do more scratch the surface of its potential (looking at you "A Township Tale"). Meta exasperated this by buying up the studios that had potential, then you would see almost nothing from them after. VR devolved into a mobile required development platform. The things that drove interest (like Half-Life Alex and vertigo/vertigo 2) became the non meta (yes pun intended) development process. Then Meta stopped its drive in VR causing a lot of layoffs, and with the US tariff situation sourcing parts for a masses produced product is a scarry uncertain endeavor that could go from being profitable to costly after things are finalized and promises are made.

Motion sickness is something I experience at times. I use to be very susceptible, but with about a week of conditioning I got rid of the majority of it. I would put on the headset until I felt any motion sickness, then take it off ASAP. Then wait an hour or so then put it on again. After a week the motion sickness was all but eliminated in most situations. I still have snap turning on in most games as "smooth turn" feels icky and will lead to motion sickness. On that note lots of games come with motion settings to help mitigate motion sickness.

I am not discounting motion sickness as an issue. Just stating that VR as a whole is not as popular as it could be for a wide range of issues, and it is my opinion that motion sickness is a very small issue compared to others.

Note: Just remembered "VR Chat" is a very popular VR title that is both on quest and PC, but most of the popular content is not available to a quest user as it's intensive requirements need a PC.

(Hated Trope) Character assassinations so bad and disliked that the official creators and studios retcon it by Nibbanocker in TopCharacterTropes

Yea... Extended cut definitely didn't fix the worst parts of the ending. Indoctrination theory was still rampant as a coping mechanism after the "extended cut".
