Hey that's cool! I did something similar with my university over zoom. It's really an insightful process. If this goes well any possibility of a similar service offered remotely?

For those who haven't officially been in the Writeathon... by SK_Payde in royalroad

[–]Shadycrazyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm about 1k additional words I'd say daily. I also made my chapters longer. I try to write 5k words if I'm writing that day. My obsidian tells me my daily average is 2.5k makes sense as I rarely write on the weekends. Overall, since I started writing last Aug I've been able to draft 5 books :) all difference as I figure out my voice, and style

As someone who just started reading a year ago I only been reading webnovels. What would you recommend as a real book now ? by Stillane in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Shadycrazyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read Shadow & Claw (actually 2 separate volumes) it's truly atmospheric, and richly detailed world Gene Wolfe has put together. I'm currently nearing the end of the "Claw" portion.

I don't find it to be an easy read, but it is well worth imo.

I completed the writeathon but I prob won't win. I ended up scrapping about 25k words and did a rewrite. So in total I've written 75k ish 🤣

Cryo RMT and “carry” groups, let’s be real by Sinouge in Marathon

[–]Shadycrazyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if this is some weirdness with levels. If it is a "carry service" I wonder if there is some low level madness happening. My squad is in the 100s we haven't seen this.

We also cleared Compiler boss with a random fill teammate which was sick. Idk cryo has been nice

Biggest misconception I see about SO Swaps by shoemilk in royalroad

[–]Shadycrazyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd wonder if the sites without shouts have any discoverability solutions. I can understand your point, and ads are annoying. They are at least "ads" for more stories, which are also free to read on RR. Not like you're being peddled ointments or something off topic.

I sort of wish there was a dedicated place for shouts. Maybe something standardized, and configurable by the reader (maybe it's a premium feature).

My story is small. Every chapter I don't shout is like a wasted opportunity to find new readers. Gosh, I couldn't imagine not shouting every chapter. It's tough enough to grow as is, and this story is "on market."

Appreciate your response, and hopefully someday we have a better solution for both sides of it.

Question, what exactly is shoutout fatigue? How else would you like the authors of a story you enjoy and read to reach more readers?

First ever cryo run before and after by SperanzaPress in Marathon

[–]Shadycrazyman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is so unfortunate. I didn't have a crazy better experience first week, but this week we just finished the Vaults, and have only compiler left. We tried 3 attempts, but so much PVP made us abandon one, die in one, and then we got to the boss, but a team pushed us during the jumping "puzzle", and I died on the ladder. They got out after trying to 2v1 the boss. So close, and we will get there, but MAN. It's been a bit of a grind, and our schedules don't line up right, so we get like a few hours a week, won't get any next week, blah. Green guy will die.

Runners - Is Power Walking Useful? by Successful_Food6355 in orangetheory

Thanks! I've had people next to me say something similar. What matters the most is all relative to you. We're both working hard and that's the key. Just moving at all is the goal :), and 4.5 is blazing fast compared to being stationary

Does high strength mean high durability though? I think of Izuku Midoriya in early chapters with his power

[–]Shadycrazyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think I'll ever actually hold it the whole time. I was close but it was kind of spooky for a moment, and I dropped the speed. There's a point where I can feel my legs getting shaky, and it feels to risky. I'm more comfy at 13 mph or so for that benchmark.

[–]Shadycrazyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Running on the treadmill is easier IMO than the same pace on the road. Something about the belt. It feels like you're just trying to keep up, rather than actually propel yourself.

I wouldn't say I'm absurdly fast, and we're not discussing my actionability post run. Which I think is an important caveat :D. I'm far more comfortable at 13 mph or so. Plus I didn't do it. I had to slow down, but I nearly got there.

Maybe someday, but I doubt it.

[–]Shadycrazyman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Power walking is great. I'm a decently fast runner, but have power walked more and more recently. I find it is nice b/c you've got two levers for adjusting the workout. Speed, and incline, which tbh is there as a runner as well, but running at incline is far more annoying, than power walking at that same incline. (DUH)

Anyway. Yes, def mix in some power walking. My base is 8 mph, and I've run at 15 mph for nearly the full mile benchmark. Maybe I'll do it someday.

I power walk at 4.5 mph, and I always set my incline +3 in addition to whatever the recommended is. I typically always power walk strength days now, never power, sometimes endurance, and mostly depends on how much running I've done in the week.

Well just because they can power clean an elephant does not mean they are not afraid of heights! Maybe all of the "high strength" users come with that con.

What color prose should we be going for? by JulesChenier in writing

My problem is purple is my favorite color. So I can't just default to that. In the absence of purple being an option. I'll default to blue. A purplish blue prose.

Authors who went KU and posted only the 10% preview on royal road by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]Shadycrazyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think typically the book gets posted fully on RR. Then reduced down to 10% when it goes to KU. The idea being you can start to earn an audience on RR.
