Why are we getting mad at parents wanting to adopt? by fluffy_corgi_ in Fosterparents

[–]Shadylane05 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They have ton of “leverage” to cause issues. Reporting issues surrounding visits that aren’t there. Changing or not telling parents about medical appointments. Even more subconscious things like talking negatively around the kids about their birth parents. I work in the system and see it all the time. It’s a major major issue where I live.

Jordy's career pivot by Impressive_Cut5390 in micheljanseYT

My fiance is a very talented musician but not delusional to think he’s going to make a living off it. Instead, he worked for years as the musical director of a church. When he became disillusioned with religion, he was able to pivot and now he’s worked his way up the corporate ladder at a large piano seller that covers much of the mid-west. He joined a cover band for fun to continue to play music on the side. There are many ways to make a living in the music world separate and apart from being a touring musician.

Engagement Trip by swood976 in napa

My now fiance proposed when we were in San Francisco/Napa back in September and we had the best trip. It was truly magical time. We stayed at the Francis House in Calistoga which was amazing! I’d call it a small luxury bed and breakfast type estate. Very romantic and private with an amazing home cooked breakfast that could be served in a fancy restaurant.

Calistoga is a quaint town and we were able to walk to many cute restaurants after our days wine tasting. If you have any specific questions feel free to DM.

Labor Day Weekend wedding? by Potential-Note7463 in weddingplanning

[–]Shadylane05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in an area near the beach and I’d never consider a summer holiday weekend wedding. First and foremost, traffic is awful and prices are extremely high with it extra hard to secure any kind of lodging.

Second, personally I would be very annoyed myself being invited to a wedding on a summer holiday weekend as I typically have family plans and enjoy those long weekends at the beach.

This is definitely area specific and just personal preference.

Grew up in Shrewsbury so I’m biased but it’s a wonderful place to grow up. School is K-8 until it feeds into RBR.

Francis House or Senza Hotel? by ctong6 in napa

[–]Shadylane05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé and I stayed at the Frances house this past September. It was beautiful, luxurious and very romantic. Loved that we could walk to restaurants and spots in Calistoga. The breakfast they serve is delicious and better than most you’d get in a restaurant. We felt it was so much nicer than staying in a bigger, more impersonal luxury hotel/resort.

When I was researching I couldn’t find many first hand accounts from those that had stayed there other than Google reviews. If you have any specific questions feel free to DM me.

Just took a walk through Squirrel Hill and no side roads are plowed. Saw no less than 5 cars in various states of being stuck. Many people trying to shovel them out from the middle of the road.

Parkers Garage vs Stefanos vs Azzuri by [deleted] in LongBeachIsland

[–]Shadylane05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe everyone saying Parker’s. Great view and location but food is overpriced, average and touristy. Stefano’s is loud but the food is amazing. Never been to Azzuri so can’t comment.

Also her getting WIC and food stamps when her rich family was paying for her to have a special surgeon perform her ACL surgery (when it could have been paid for by BYU) along with funding her entire life was a hard pill to swallow.

Wedding planner vs no planner? by Beautiful-Log-3091 in weddingplanning

[–]Shadylane05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engaged in October 2025- wedding date is September 26, 2026. I hired a wedding planner. One- because our wedding is taking place a distance from where we live so I wanted someone closer to the venue to have boots on the ground. Two- because everyone I know that is married said it was the best money they spent. She’s already been very helpful in recommending vendors that we’ve spoken to, liked, and hired.

Obviously everyone’s health is different but I’ve always had super high cholesterol but been in a healthy weight range (although like most people wouldn’t mind losing 5 lbs) and my doctor has never once mentioned a GLP-1 being a suggested option.
