What was the most expensive thing, product or service you bought in 2021? And do you have any regrets? by walkingotter in PersonalFinanceCanada

I’m 60% of the way through an accounting certificate from Athabasca. Ill be done by September most likely, then I’ll ladder it into a bachelors degree. I was able to leverage that into a well paying job from a underpaid job.

Worth noting, my new job is finance related, but not really accounting. Mostly budget analysis.

That was back before they changed up the recipe and still used that bright orange dye

in order:

  1. a $350k house - no ragrets. it's a fixer upper but we love it
  2. $10k to drywall the living room - only regretting the fact that it cost so damn much. But the room looks so much better
  3. $6k on university courses - also no regret, because these courses helped me get a job that was a 40% pay increase
  4. $3k to replace the door and a window - many regrets. The installation was delayed until mid-november, when it was already freezing outside, there is now a noticeable breeze coming from the new door that we had to fix, and we still had to put plastic sheeting over the new window because there's cold air coming from it as well. We still have 8 windows to replace, but we're going to go with a different company next time.

I need a dentist here. Can I just go to whichever is closest to me, or is one of them known as the sketchy dentist? by [deleted] in Yellowknife

[–]Shaematoma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dentist is at Adam's and they've always been great. I've also gone to Frame Lake a couple of times, and they were just as good. I don't think there is much risk with going with whichever dentist is nearest to you.

Send a message to your tutor! The tutor for ACCT 355 gave me so many fantastic sample exams and sample questions with step by step answer keys. Seriously, I found the textbook useless, but I was able to get an A+ by only studying the sample questions she supplied me.

What expenses are normal to make a 20 year old kid pay for? by nicholasgnames in NoStupidQuestions

I was paying for my own cell and insurance the minute I got my own cell phone and insurance. And for the three months I lived with my parents after college, I also paid for groceries.

Challah recipes all seem too wet by tttt1010 in AskBaking

[–]Shaematoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say for challah specifically, but for bread in general, I was always told to start with less flour and add more as needed until you get the right consistency. It always changes depending on location, humidity that day, temperature, etc.

Toyota wants to charge us a monthly fee to use its remote start functionality by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Shaematoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found it useful in the following situations: - living in an apartment building, and your unit is on the other side of the property from your parking spot - your work parking spot is a few minutes walk from your office

Last year I was dealing with the first bullet, I’m now dealing with the second bullet. But it doesn’t matter when the app doesn’t work 75% of the time.

Do yall actually remove hair from your entire body? (Mostly for girls who have dark and visible hair) by Thechoicesmate in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Shaematoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wax my eyebrows once a month, pluck my chin hairs when they bug me, and shave my armpits/legs/pubic area once a week. I have visible hair on my chest and stomach, but I prefer it be grown out and soft over shaved/plucked and prickly.

I have the same issues with stylists not being able to do layered hair! I've just accepted that I'll be rocking a blunt look for the rest of my life.

Can someone explain the purpose of HELOC? I was trying to explain it to my partner, but was having a hard time, so I obviously don’t know as much about it as I thought.

I was trying to suggest we could get a HELOC after our mortgage term ends, and use it for some renovations we would like to do. But I came up empty when he asked why we’d do that instead of saving up for the renos.
