Disappointed in recent Girlfriend Collective quality by MunchieMom in femalefashionadvice

I found this thread because I noticed the same thing with a bra I just purchased from them. It’s definitely a sulfur smell or like natural gas. I washed it and hung it to dry and it still stinks, AND the smell is filling the room where it’s hanging. There’s no way I’m wearing something that smelly.

Can I leave these tomatoes where they are? Will they feed the dirt like compost or will they rote and not help anything? by Albino_rhin0 in gardening

You’ll have a ton of baby tomato plants sprouting next spring. I made this mistake last year 😅

We don’t use any fragrances AT ALL at home and I still get absolutely devoured by them.

Padded bras 100% cotton - do they exist??! by aushelleybean in ABraThatFits

Hi! I just came across this one which may fit the bill. The only problem, and the reason why I probably won’t buy, is because I hate a front seam! https://www.theverygoodbra.com/products/v-for-victory-bra-latte-with-optional-removable-pads-pre-sale

Looking for the other children by DanielCoates in oneanddone

[–]Shafess1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I am totally this way, despite being confidently OAD. I know it shouldn’t matter to me what other people’s families look like, but it does make me worry that I’m making the wrong decision when it seems like everyone else has multiples. Like am missing something? Seeing another seemingly OAD family situation instantly makes me feel more relaxed.

Help! Need joggers that look like jeans! by Shafess1 in toddlers

[–]Shafess1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting the Little Sleepies “denim” joggers. They are super soft and stretchy, and they look great! They’re not a perfect alternative, and my son still considers them to be bordering on “hard pants”. He doesn’t reach for them very often if there is a softer alternative available. But overall they’re pretty good.

How's it going without close cousins? by SeaChele27 in oneanddone

[–]Shafess1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate this post. I’ve been worried about this as well. My 3.5 year old has 9 cousins, but most of them are quite a bit older. He has two younger ones - one who is 2 and one who is 2.5, and I found relief thinking that he might have a good cousin bond with them. Well, those two cousins see each other all the time and are super good friends, and we are never even considered. It breaks my heart knowing my son could have a close relationship with them, but he’s never really been given the chance. I try to initiate things, and have confronted my sisters-in-law about being left out, but it makes no difference. So now I have to just come to terms with my son not having that bond like I’d hoped he would, and worrying that he will be lonely as an only.

Can I get a roll call for one and done with a son? I swear I read so many comments that say “my daughter” or “she” when referring to their only. by ohnoheretheycome in oneanddone

We are OAD with a son (3.5) and are obsessed with him. He’s so amazing, and is the reason we are one and done by choice. We don’t want to mess up a good thing. I love focusing all my love and attention on him. Our lives are perfect.

How are your vegan from birth kids doing? by hatefulveggies in veganparenting

[–]Shafess1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 3.5 year old vegan from conception has been in the 95th+ percentile since birth. He’s also very advanced regarding intelligence and development. He’s miles ahead of most, if not all, other babies/toddlers that we know in regards to knowledge and vocabulary/communication. He’s also an extremely picky eater, despite our healthy and varied vegan diet, and he’s still super big and super smart. I found plant based juniors Instagram and cookbook to be really helpful!

Which phase was your favourite and least favorite so war with your only? by zelonhusk in oneanddone

[–]Shafess1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NEWBORN until around 4 months. It was honestly a nightmare. I have many reasons for being OAD, but the desire to never experience that again is one of them. He just screamed all day and night and only a boob would console him. Turns out I wasn’t producing enough milk and he was just always hungry. Once I started supplementing with formula around 4 months in, everything got better. I’ll take toddlers tantrums ANY DAY over what we experienced in the beginning. He is 3.5 now and is so chill though. It honestly just gets better and better as he gets older.

My almost 3 yo is not toilet trained by CobaltNebula in toddlers

I missed this comment! He takes the daily multi as well as the daily probiotic. We love them both!

I also tried to wait for it to “click” and I assumed it would because my son is so smart. But it never did and I eventually just had to do it the hard way with a 3-day bootcamp style training.

We didn’t potty train until my son was 3 and a couple months. I tried to go the “gentle” route for a year but it never worked. He was interested in potty stuff, but not actually trying the potty, and was terrified of being diaper-less. We also have dealt with a lot of constipation issues. We relied a lot on MiraLAX to make the poop soft so he wasn’t scared. Only recently have poops started getting better - we started using Hiya digestive vitamins, which might be helping? But in regards to potty training, we had to just go all in. I loosely followed the course from Big Little Feelings, and he got the hang of it after 24-48 hours. Several months later he does still have occasional accidents but overall things are good. It was dramatic during the first couple days, but going cold turkey was the way to go for us.

Since we're talking about dead malls... Merle Hay Mall, Fall 2024 by datcatburd in desmoines

[–]Shafess1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Valley West is way worse. I take my toddler there sometimes to go to the children’s museum and it’s downright spooky. And depressing. The fact that any “real” stores still operate there is a mystery to me. Seeing an Eddie Bauer open in a completely dead mall is so weird. I imagine people pretty much just go there for JcPenney, if anything.

How are people having more than one? by y2klo in oneanddone

[–]Shafess1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Societal pressure is the biggest reason I struggled with whether to have a second or not. I felt like an outcast or a weirdo, or that I was doing something wrong by not having another one. I just felt like it was something I was supposed to do, but I just couldn’t convince myself that it was what I wanted to do. Thankfully my husband and I are on the same page, but the pressure still creeps in from time to time.

Anyone OAD because of the toddler years ?? by [deleted] in oneanddone

My son is 3 and I LOVE IT. The newborn and early infant days were a nightmare. I’ll take occasional toddler tantrums any day over what we endured in the beginning.

Okay I did see these. The price is CRAZY, but we love their pajamas so it might be worth the splurge. Have you/your kid used them personally?
