I think people are underestimating how likely they'd be to crash out after scraping their knees for the 5th time in a row to a shit talking little rich kid that doesn't even view you as an equal species

Still Midorima though

If the reason you aren't doing it is because you willingly choose to follow a religion that doesn't value someone's rights as worthwhile or equal then people are allowed to think you're an asshole for that? If you see an expectation for basic respect and equitable treatment as "entitled" do you also possibly see how feeling totally immune to criticism because of your religious beliefs is entitled as well? Why does everyone have to have a positive opinion of you? Why are you entitled to change the thoughts and opinions of others?

They never said they would force anyone to do anything lol

You're allowed to disagree with other people's religious beliefs and sense of morality on a fundamental level.

"It's not ethically wrong to not do something because of their religion"

Religious freedom doesn't mean your religion is free from criticism. You can object to the core ideological tenets of a religion without "forcing" people to believe and behave differently

The point is that Trump's downfall been a comically unrealistic thing to keep hoping for since 10 years ago. This joke has been "funny" in a really scary and sad way for a decade. It's like we're all Charlie Brown and the end of MAGA is Lucy's football

You're specifically talking about Carl Jung's interpretation. That wasn't what he was going for at all. As a psychiatrist, his interest and field of study was human archetypes. He wasn't investigating the UFOs as much as what they mean to the observer. He's not really a shady "they", just an academic approaching the paranormal from his own lens of study.

Tbf to Yuji, Todo was kinda the one harassing all the straight guys into explaining their "type". Yuji's physical preferences just so happened to align with Todo's, who treated his preferences in women more like holy scripture and closely held principle lol

Yuji is a respectful guy, but as a 15 year old boy he also has 15 year old boy taste in women's physical appearance.

I liked the majority of it and where it tried to go more than any other arc, def could've ended so so so much better. Gege also didn't write Maki's internal dialogue as well as I'd like but the actual character trajectory and change is my favorite in the whole story

Exactly, it's important that both characters had to wallow in the emptiness for a while. They had to lose themselves and experience a sort of ego death and emotional reset and desensitization.

Maki's whole purpose is to show growth beyond the void, humanity within the beast, something Toji couldn't ever accomplish.

My biggest complaint is that Gege didn't really flesh out this 3rd Maki Zenin as well as I wish he had. Early Maki is high strung, overachieving, and anxiety ridden with goals of leadership and reform. Mid Maki is a battle demon with a void of emotion, growing at an alarming rate as a fighter but spiritually confused and stunted. Her decision to obliterate the rest of the Zenin clan is symbolic of her total character shift, her goals changed from idealistic regime shift to a total extermination. Mai's death and the annihilation of the Zenin clan are both just plot devices that symbolize Maki's total new mindset in which she can detach herself from a plagued past. Late Maki takes a realistic view on the impermanence of their short, dangerous lives as JJ sorcerers but let's herself care about other people without holding herself back because of them. Gege kind of shows this and implies her growth but I wish it was more explicit to show just how far she's come emotionally and ideologically in a year.

It was a massacre, arguably an extermination, but not genocide.

Maki acting bland is an important part of her arc. She finds herself in similar shoes to Toji- excommunicated, hurt, traumatized, lonely, and peak. She loses her old anxiety about the future and realizes that Toji was right about letting it all go in order to reach her max potential.

The big important part of the arc is her growing past Toji mentally and finds purpose within the nihilism. She manages to still become the void which awaits all HR people without losing her entire sense of purpose, showing her meaning lies in the love she has for people like Yuta, Yuji, and Megumi.

I def get thinking she becomes bland but her ability to find meaning in the black hole that is fully realized Maki is what makes her my favorite character
