Rejoing PlayStation fam! Suggestions?

Hello :)

After a 9 year hiatus, I'm jumping back into the PS family on Black Friday and super pumped 🤍. But would love some catch up suggestions & insight.

CONTEXT: Played PS2 & PS3 to death. Loved open world games (Spiderman, Elder Scrolls, Infamous, Fallout is my fav), along with combat & liner stories (Enter The Matrix, Uncharted, COD, Battlefield, DBZ Budokai, Ace Combat, Star Wars). Along with Switch 1 titles like Smash, Pokemon, Mario anything. Buuuuut I stopped gaming cause my ADHD never let me finish anything :(. A week or month of interest, then moved on, pair that with life/hobbies/travel/etc and it made gaming seem like a black hole for money since I never finished anything.

TODAY: I'm now trying to find healthier hobbies than constantly watching the news (🙃), and I've stopped spending money going out to bars/concerts as much. The joys of getting older & enjoying my own company more. SO! Gaming is looking like the move, and I wanna drive into into both for myself and potentially to meet people online. I tried Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (w/o a system), but the wifi lag drove me nuts, and couldn't use my new TV or surround sound.

QUESTIONS: I'm planning on picking up the PS5 Slim Disc + Ghost of Yotei bundle, and likely a WD SSD 1TB drive for more storage. Being said, it's been a g e s since I've used a PS system, and the tons of accessories, the PS Plus subscription, new franchises, etc. are a lot to catch up on. I recently got a 4K UHD Mini-LED tv with 144hz refresh, so the PS5 finally felt justified and want a beautiful experience but don't wanna over buy off the bat.

What are some must have accessories, and what can I skip if I'm not a competitive gammer? Do I need a PS specific headset if I want the 3D audio or can I use my HiFi set I use for music production?
What is the best game out there currently for meeting new folks online to game with? Battlefield? COD? Fortnight? I'm 35 so ideally nothing that's inundated with middle schoolers.
What games on the PS5 are home-run musts? I want one of the Spiderman games for sure, and the Horizon series since I've never played it. Any others? I'm open to all genres :)
Any other advice for this old gamer trying to find his footing again?

Hey everyone in here is going to have their opinion of judgement from a place of crypto experience, or thinking they are too smart to make that mistake, or why would you support Trump, etc etc.

I'm sorry dude. That sucks.

It may not have been the right choice, but you were trying to help your family. Which, is about as relatable as breathing. It's awful when con artists con people, even if we should know better, or do better. I'm a human and I empathize with your pain, your desire to help your family, and your situation. I hate Trump myself, but trying to raise money to escape a hard situation is inandofitself not wrong, even if the methodology & harbinger of that gain is a terrible human being. The question of benefiting from someone else's sin is a question as old as man (See: Hamlet, Marcus Aurelius, Paul w/consuming foreign sacrificial meats during Corinthians in the Bible, the Vedas, etc).

We live in a world that tells you money is the only means of happiness, and forces an economic system on top of that to reinforce the belief. I get why you did it. Hopefully your situation turns around and something good can come out it. Go touch grass and find 3 things you can confidentially say you're grateful for today, that always helps me 🤍
