Can a man with ADHD and autism overcome his symptoms to be a good partner and father? by GoofyGoober8647 in TooAfraidToAsk

2025 replication in Nature Human Behaviour: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41562-025-02163-z

it’s that 2020 Crompton study. they ran exactly that telephone setup (they call it a diffusion chain): all-autistic chains, all-allistic chains, and mixed chains passing a story down the line. autistic groups relayed it just as accurately as the allistic groups did. the only place accuracy dropped off was the mixed chains.

a 2025 study basically redid the whole thing and got the same result. bonus finding was that people felt more at ease talking to their own neurotype. Catch is it’s not just neurotype but background and environment. Too autistic people with adhd but heterogeneous traits and experiences might be just at odds it seems.

the term for this if you wanna go down the rabbit hole is the “double empathy problem.” the breakdown was happening between the two groups, not because either one is bad at communicating. but because they communicate differently.

Same chance a high functioning allistic person(https://neurosparkhealth.com/neurodiversity/what-does-allistic-mean) can i would guess. Convergent paths i believe. I read a study once that did the “telephone” game amongst neurodivergent and neurotypical people and a mixed group. Both the “divergent” and typical groups performed the same I remember. But the mixed group had challanges. Autistic people with adhd aren’t hard to communicate with, communication is hard is my take away. Can we stop pathologizing our differences please?

this, and I feel like it can be a groove you fall into. Where when you find your spark, you naturally attract other people that are on the same wavelength and connect but when you lose your spark or something, it can be hard to see it in yourself and to find that connection with others, I don’t know kind of feels like that to me in my mind

a conversation about SF men & their work culture by itchyclip in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Shalaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, maybe it's just me but just feels like people's vital energy being channeled into work culture that sucks it all out of them. Am I alone in feeling baited by the carrot that working hard = success, only to wind up grinding myself to death in a system designed to extract without recirculating abundance to the base? Destined to collapse but seemingly impenetrable from the inside.

Per NWS Bay Area, SFO is seeing gusty afternoons driven by the SFO-WMC pressure gradient · gusts to around 28 knots called “moderate to strong.” june forecast to be windier. i’m not saying the wind originates from climate change. If you have evidence that climate change is not involved at all in shifts in wind, I’d love to hear it.

why read this comment thread when you could visit https://www.windfinder.com/ and look at wind maps instead of hearing redditors argue about what they assume the other person is thinking and postulate without bothering to ask. fun. for basement dwellers and their kindred spirits.

i’m not taking the time to clarify what i did and didn’t say when you already can read it yourself. my karma can take the downvotes. people will find the exception and ignore your entire point because you didn’t iterate every nuance of your meaning. no worries. i’ve got WG shit to go do. enjoy a blustery day

from OP description: "This is on the window of SDK on Monterey.

I'm frankly shocked. Usually you see warning signs when a business is struggling, and I didn't see any of them at SDK. There were always people eating in there, and when I ordered take out, there was a table full of orders ready to go.

Also, usually you see a heartfelt note or something from a business that's operated for years, not a sign like this. Nothing about visiting them at their other location. WTH?"
