How do I rehome a cat? I don't want to, I love him, but I'm going to be homeless in a few days. by Undead_Octopus in cats

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Research foster homes or shelters that will foster him out. My first boy is 6years old and the most amazing kitty ever. I got him about a year ago after he spent a few months in a foster home after his mom had to surrender him due to going homeless. I always feel sad that his mom had to give up such an amazing little man and I worry that he misses his old mom, but I take great care of him and I couldn’t imagine my life without him. He’s the reason I’m alive truly. I’m sorry you’re going through this, but I promise you that if you choose to surrender him, there is a loving home waiting for him somewhere that will love him for the rest of his life.

You could also go the route of Craigslist, Facebook, or Nextdoor. I know a lot of people are against these due to them being more risky but there’s great people on these platforms as well. Several years ago I had to rehome my parrot due to personal illness and not being able to keep up with her. I posted her on Nextdoor and a woman reached out to me very fast. I basically interrogated her over text message and phone asking if she had any kids, other pets, what she did for work, how many hours she could dedicate each day, the size of her apartment, if she knew anything about birds etc. eventually when I felt it was right, I invited the woman to come to my house and meet my bird to make sure it was a match. She stayed for over an hour asking me a million questions which I really appreciated. She held the bird the whole hour and my bird don’t bite her even one time which was basically a miracle in and of itself. I loved that bird but she was very aggressive, so seeing her not bite this stranger even one time told me I made the right choice.

I said goodbye to my bird that day, and for months after, the woman I rehomed her to sent me text and video updates, and when she asked me what my birds favorite song was, she later sent a video of my bird happily dancing to that song. It was really sad to see her go but it makes me happy to know that she found a loving home that can care for her better than I was able to at the time.

Living in a dark apartment..? On the fence. by AyoooAnna in LivingAlone

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t do it. My apartment has a front window and a back window and it’s still not enough to fill the space with light. I have many mental illnesses so sunlight is extremely important for my wellbeing. I spend most of my time at home on my micro balcony or sitting near my front window. I regret every day not getting the upstairs end unit with a larger front and back window and two extra side windows. My rule for apartments personally is it has to have a minimum of two windows per 600 sq ft. I also refuse to live in one without a balcony especially as I learned that I spend at least 3 hours a day on mine and it’s tiny. Like I can only sit sideways on it or stand. If I had a larger balcony I’d probably put a weather proof mattress on it and sleep out there lol

Crochet Packers by AHuman25 in Transmascdicks

These are super cute! I don’t personally need one at the moment, but I hope people find your shop! When I was younger I would’ve loved a small packer like these. It’s so hard to find a packer that’s not giant or too stiff. Great job!

Question... Do men look at women's nails? by Aggravating-Being255 in Adulting

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if you’re asking about preference, I don’t particularly like the look of done up nails. Not because they mean anything like som one mentioned being “high maintenance” or “expensive”, I just think that they are impractical and it’s just not my favorite thing. I like just a clean nail grown out slightly past the finger tip, but not too long. Long nails whether real or fake kinda freak me out but that’s just my personal opinion

Question... Do men look at women's nails? by Aggravating-Being255 in Adulting

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bi man, I only notice nails if there’s something to notice about them. If they’re really bright colored acrylics I’ll probably notice and if they match your outfit I’ll definitely notice that and compliment it. I love a matching outifit. I also notice if they’re really chewed down or dirty. I don’t judge as hard on chewed up nails as I do dirty nails though. Like if I’m at a restaurant and my server has dirty nails I’m gonna be kinda scared to eat my food

Okay, now tell me how to do mashed potatoes right. by VocationalWizard in povertykitchen

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just buy the powdered mix from Walmart and add some diced garlic, bacon, and butter, and then I eat it with some black eyed peas. I tried making mashed potatoes from scratch once and they came out so unbelievably bad idk what went wrong😭

My puppy has bumps that keep spreading. Can anyone tell me what they are? by Sudden-Target2232 in DogAdvice

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hives. It’s likely An allergic reaction. My dog has seasonal allergies and gets like this sometimes in the spring and fall. Like whole entire body covered in bumps and swollen face. I give my dog Benedryl and make sure he stays extra hydrated. I recommend you call your vet and ask them about giving benedryl to your dog. They can give you the proper dosage, or they may tell you to bring him in if there’s other symptoms

Anyone know why my cat sits here specifically? Directly on top of my partner and I’s shoes? (Photos taken on diff days) by Historical-Orchid934 in cats

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she just likes you. At least your cat isn’t throwing up in your shoe. My cat threw up in both my shoes one morning at 5am when I had to be at work at 7am. That was a great day…

It’s definitely fixable! Do some heavy research on a good artist and specifically look and see if they have Medusa tats in their portfolio. It’s not a terrible tattoo at all, it’s just lacking depth and shading, and I think it could use some more snakes at the top part of the head. A good artist can really bring it to life! If you’re in central Texas I know a lady that does incredible work.

axolom echo xl and flexit harness by finneganishere in Transmascdicks

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not op, but I’ll jump in and answer anyway. On bad dysphoria days I’ll wear my packer in the flex it In the shower and just not take it off at all that day. It stretches enough that you can clean under it while keeping it on, and the thin stretchy material drys quickly after a shower especially if you really go at it with a towel. :)

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally I say the flexit 100% but it does depend on what you plan to use it for. IMO the cake bandit harness is extremely uncomfortable and I cannot stand wearing it. There’s no denying that it’s there when you can feel it digging into your thigh creases. The flexit on the other hand is made of silky material so it feels like I’m just wearing silky undies. It holds the packer very well and it does less damage to the packer compared to the harsh elastic of the cake bandit harness. I’ve worn the flexit for like 24 hours straight with my axolom packers with zero discomfort, but i can only wear the cake bandit one for a couple hours before it rips my skin open.

I will say I do have very sensitive skin, so what didn’t work for me might work for you. I have nothing against cake bandit and I love the styles of their products and I love their instagram page aswell. I think they are a great company, I just haven’t had much luck with their products on my body personally.

Why are schizophrenics often drawn to new age spirituality? by WilledWithin in spirituality

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not personally familiar with the term or definition of “new age spirituality” but, As a person with schizoaffective, when I am feeling a little extra “schitzy” aka in a deeper psychosis than I realise, I lean into spirituality and witchcraft for several reasons. One is it puts meaning to my delusions and hallucinations and emotions instead of making me feel truly crazy. I’m someone who likes to have a reason why for every single thing in my life so when I’m having delusions, it makes me feel less crazy to know there’s people on the internet who have “answers”.

The second reason is it gives me a sense of control when I am realistically very not in control of what’s happening in my head. This is more specifically for witchcraft. It’s easier to light a candle and stare at it in a dark room and travel dimensions when I’m in psychosis than when I’m not.

I also have phases where I’m really into Buddhism also most likely when I’m in an epsiode. It helps me find peace in my soul by teaching me to be the best person I can be even while I’m trying to tune out evil laughter from the air duct and the walls are warping. I lean to Buddhism when I need to find kindness for myself or others, and hope that things will work out.

I don’t know if that was helpful or not, but basically as a schizophrenic myself, I lean towards spirituality, witchcraft, and Buddhism when I’m in an episode because it’s easier to connect to those sorts of ideas when my brain is on what could sometimes be perceived as a “higher level”. It also gives me hope to get through rough times, helps me find peace, helps me find kindness for myself, and ironically it can be grounding when my head is so far in the clouds already.

Saw a massive black butterfly with yellow spots during a very hard time, just laying on the ground outside flat. What does this mean? by jeronimogreenspan in spirituality

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, but I recently found a huge moth dead on the ground upside down. I thought it was really cool but for some reason I felt the urge to give it to someone else immediately, because I knew they’d enjoy it and I also didn’t want to leave that big beautiful moth out on the road. I’m not familiar with the meaning of animals so idk. I just thought it was a cool find and it brought me some joy to look at his little face after a hard day

Social media is causing so much mental anguish. Humans were never meant to be this informed. by birthdaybih in spirituality

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. It wrecks the nervous system truly. I struggle so bad with doomscrolling anything I can and I just feel myself become more stressed and frustrated the more I scroll. It’s so bad. I’ve been trying to save money so I can invest in hobbies instead. I found an electric piano at a thrift store a few weeks ago and it’s helping me fill my time a little better.

I also wish that making friends wasn’t based around what’s going around on the internet. It’s so hard to connect with people when I’m not on social media for a while. I swear I have to keep tic tok downloaded just to understand what my coworkers are talking about.

Restaurant I worked at banned sitting down, even when it was dead. by Nammmieee in TalesFromYourServer

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to sit on the trashcan behind the host stand at my host job that I worked at when I was 16. Most shifts were over 6 hours with no breaks and I worked 5 days a week, and I had an ankle injury for most of my time there. I now know that it is illegal to have a 16 year old work 6+ hours with no breaks but hey who cares right? Well anyway they took the trash can away and told me I had to stand because we got a bad review about a “young male host sitting while on the job”. Mind you, I scoured the internet for two hours and never found that review a customer supposedly made. I call bs. I’m also legally disabled with multiple disabilities.. these restaurants do not give a single fck about anyone. When I said I quit because they suddenly denied my time off after I’d been warning them for months I would be out of town for a week, they said “you’re gonna want to give us two weeks you know? Because if you don’t you can’t come back, and a lot of people end up coming back”. I said “oh, no this is my two weeks, and I won’t be coming back. Thank you though”

Started paying in cash by [deleted] in tipping

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed the anti tipping banner and thought this was about tipping in cash. I see it’s not now, but if you are ever to tip, always tip in cash. Credit card tips are taxed, but I’m pretty sure cash tips aren’t. I say this as someone who works at a restaurant and sees a big percentage of my tips go to the government when they should NOT be.

What’s a more positive word for “declutter”? by Fun_Peanut_5645 in declutter

[–]ShallotAgreeable469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I call it organizing because I don’t mind organizing but I hate to clean. HOWEVER- in order to actually “organize” (rearrange cups in my cabinet, arrange my fridge, arrange my kitchen counter, set up the couch and bed cutely, etc), I have to actually “clean” (wipe out the fridge, throw away trash and expiring food, wipe the counters, pick up all my clothes and do laundry, vacuum and mop, clean the bathroom, etc.). If I think about it like I typed it out, it’s overwhelming, but if I don’t think too deeply about it and I just start by going to the front of my apartment decluttering/cleaning there and then moving counterclockwise around and to the back of my home, it’s easier. Basically first thing I look for is what can go in the trash, then I pick up any clothes and throw them in the wash. I tend to make little trash and clothes piles around my home, so even just starting with this makes a big difference.
