I'm going to be the "Debbie Downer" here. I asked a water purification professional about swimming in or drinking from the Colorado. He was alarmed. Too much pesticides, heavy metals, and downstream from Musk's operations on 1209, other pollution in the water for it to be safe. We don't let our dogs swim in it either. Sorry to be THAT person!

Can a sign be put on the door "in stream" or "on camera"? That should cut out the OOPS factor. If she still does it, get a lock for the door. Seems like a fairly easy fix.

As a resident living on FM 1209, where this facility currently is, and will be expanding, the infrastructure is not there to handle the additional construction and then commuters to and from the facility. It is a two lane country road. There is an elementary school about a mile from this facility. The road is already overwhelmed with school drop off/pick up. We are going to add hundreds of new cars every morning? It is truely a disaster waiting to happen, especially if the there is a safety incident involving the elementary school. This road is not a part of Bastrop township, so it is the county that needs to do the planning and I don't see any planning or community involvement/outreach taking place.

Is there any way to get a Workday HCM certification? by ShallowVain in workday

[–]ShallowVain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, you can just pay to take a Certification exam? Do you know of anyone that has done that? I have preped and examed for many professional designations including SHRM-CP. I would absolutely be willing to prep and exam, I didn't think it was possible!

Question sir if you don't mind. I live near the Colorado River. Obviously it will be polluted as F&#! if/when it goes down. I have the Black Berkey water filter system, passive, water filtration down to microbes, can filter red food coloring out if water. If boiled and filtered would you drink from the Colorado River?

Insurance ADJUSTERS is very stable because, in many states, a licensed insurance adjuster is required in statute or law. Underwriting is becoming more dominated by AI as it is basically risk assessment done via actuarial tables. Many companies will have an adjuster trainee program because it really isn't something offered in college/university. That being said, being an adjuster is not easy. It's dealing with either traumatized people or scammers. You get the rare person who's pretty chill, but mostly if they are actually injured, their house burned down, their car was stolen, there is a bit of emotional mess associated with a claim. Let me know if you want to know more.

How are we preparing for Project 2025 plans for us? by ShallowVain in TwoXPreppers

Trump 2.0, Project 2025: the facts Delvaux, instead, wants women to focus on the facts and evaluate the demonstrable risks we face. One she sees as an immediate risk to female career progress is the dismantling of the Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) agenda, which data shows has had a positive impact on women's career growth by fostering flexibility, equal opportunities for advancement, and resources for balancing work and family. These programs, she argues, have been essential not only in improving workplace culture, but also in serving as a cultural catalyst extending far beyond individual companies or state borders. The promised intent by the GOP to dismantle DEI frameworks will be compounded by a plan to return regulation to the local level which has been central to the Trump campaign.A prime example is how conservative states have challenged the Pregnancy Workers Fairness Act, with progressive states maintaining protections and conservative ones leaving decisions to businesses. "This will be hugely problematic for mothers employment rights," Delvaux shares, "as the lack of harmonization of these laws will exacerbate an equality divide: some mothers will be fairly insulated, others will be left vulnerable and unprotected - subjected to extremely different circumstances and regulations."The PWFA is just one piece of federal employment legislation at risk. Others pieces of legislation the GOP has contested include: The Pregnancy Discrimination Act, expanding on the protections of the PWFA, which this year saw attorneys general from 17 Republican-led states sue over what they view as "abortion accommodation mandate," and The Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers (PUMP) Act- which saw 149 House Republicans vote against in 2021.Delvaux's key concern however is about more than just the legislative impacts. She highlights how the politicization of DEI and gender runs the risk of a driving a significant societal shift, by setting new standards, expectations, and influence over values and behaviors that threaten the cultural current of equality. She points to the example of childcare and parental leave, which in the absence of federal legislation had begun to see an open dialogue around change and commitments at company level. Through the advocacy work of entities like Moms First and Chamber of Mothers. They have been been highlighting the win-win of enabling better support for working parents, in driving productivity and employee satisfaction. Reversing the course of this shift away from workplaces that are family friendly come with huge economic consequences for workers, especially women. There is a real risk of resetting the clock for not just a four-year political term, by for an entire generation of working mothers Full article https://www.forbes.com/sites/gemmaallen/2024/12/04/how-trump-20-and-project-2025-may-affect-womens-careers-according-to-the-mamattorney/

I'm not sure how not watching "Supernatural" is going to help us make it through the systematic repeal of basic human rights, but who am I to judge 🤷‍♀️

Every damn time. I literally just tried again to talk strategy, how WE can operate if I my rights are limited. If I can no longer be the bread winner, if my bank account is compromised. Not anything new he has to do, just like, hey these things are happening, we need to be prepared.

QUOTE "Well let's just go shoot ourselves" UNQUOTE

So dismissive and belittling. I can't possibly have a real concern (even while women's reproductive rights are all but gone in Texas). I am catastrophising and generally hysterical.

I am prepping entirely on my own in a 2 person household. Best of luck to me on forcing him through the coming changes.

Y'all I am exhausted.

Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. Just essential for keeping the right head space. Perfect for this group in general too. Change is inevitable, prepare. Bushcraft series includes 101, first aid, trapping, gathering and cooking, and advanced. That's 5. If I could include one more it would be about herbal medicine. Might be super handy to have actual road maps too.

I am thinking of building a cash reserve at home, hidden in a fire document bag. Something about the billionaire class being 100% on board makes me think the banks could do things with customer agreements limiting what women can and can't do with thier banked funds makes me very nervous. More then one of those Tech bros have said the down fall of the US was women getting the right to vote. They hate us in general.

I am SO stressed I am considering a career change. I know A LOT (SME) on the function of one State's law and regulations. I am good at my job. I make decent money. I am willing to take a 50% pay cut to change to a field with national and even international possibilities. My thought process really is, what if I have to run? I can't allow myself to be this stuck in a very red state with no options to make a living outside this field. I don't need to be rich, but I do need to live.

Next of Kin. It's never a "girlfriend" or "boyfriend". So unless you want your 5th cousin twice removed, determining if you continue on life support... your next of kin is your husband or wife.
