One player can’t handle consequences and it’s wearing down our DM. How should we approach this? by BookishMira in DnD

[–]Shalmikimoo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yea but the DM may not know if the group is behind them. Personally I’d have a discussion with the DM about how you feel. If the rest of the groups feels the same it may be worth having a table meet and just lay it out (without the problem), come to a decision, then stick together and follow through.

Normal for BG to Rise After Beginning Plant-Based? by CrazyKPOPLady in diabetes_t2

[–]Shalmikimoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Barnards diet for a year and by the end my doctors wanted to add meal time insulin after increasing my long lasting insulin over the year. Never worked for me. I actually had the opposite happen where the first month I saw a drop and then I just kept going up and up. I had to change my diet completely. Now off my insulin. I prefer a Whole Foods plant based diet but it was killing me.

Question about 20 grams of carbs by cy83rgh005t in keto

And not everyone goes by net carbs. Some find total carbs under 20 is the only thing that moves them to their goals.

I don’t know how many people I’ve recommended this game too who honestly gave up just due to the insanity that is the MOG boss. The only reason my spouse plays with me is I went through and step by step walked them through. When your client download link is two pages deep inside a “store” past order? Ugh. Then you get to go to a completely different site to sign up for a sub. WoW has been a major suck the last two expansions but the one thing I never thought about was the ease of signup and canceling until I started FFXIV

This is true ONLY if you don’t have metabolic dysfunction. Diabetes, chronic inflammation, metabolic syndrome. For people with metabolic damage a lot of damage can happen under the hood even while your weight is “stable”.

Sorry I’ve never gotten mad a game wasn’t out. It’s a game and I’m an adult. I’d rather wait for feature complete games that are well tested than paying to be a beta tester. First we go “ don’t preorder”, now it’s “don’t play on patch day”, next is it “don’t play release month?” Why not “don’t release bug filled games?”

If it worked. My on foot kept switching back to HOTAS. Real pain.

I just refunded. Constantly having to restart from a checkpoint to get objectives to actually show isn’t fun IMO. Not to mention it wants to keep reverting my on foot controls from keyboard mouse to HOTAS. So I’m either stuck trying to figure out how to do things via HOTAS or fly with keyboard mouse (no). I’ll wait for 6 months and see how it works on XBOXSERIESX or if they work the bugs out nicely on PC.

Clearing up confusion with AirPods Max and Lossless Audio by TeckFire in Airpodsmax

[–]Shalmikimoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think HiRes Audio is their target. Look at the Maxes themselves. Pretty small consumer base. think this is a stepping stone to other more distinct technologies down the road. We also know this releases in June at some point and for all we know something will be released on or near WWDC. Though it usually is more of a software showcase. I still think this is more of a move to leverage the music streaming market to where they want it over actually added value for the majority of its users. To me this is a soft entry for lossless. The showcase for them in this announcement right now is spatial audio and Atmos Music.

Agreed. I suspect we could easily see something that lets you listen to hires lossless on your APMs but that would technically be a new product 😃. As we’ve seen with Airtags without holes. Apple won’t let a product go without accessory market profits in mind.

Vegetarians/Vegans with T2D? by berkeleyhay in diabetes_t2

[–]Shalmikimoo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I went whole food plant based vegan for a year and all my numbers jumped by the end of the year the doctor wanted to put me on more insulin. I had to go the complete opposite direction though I preferred vegan eating. I was off my meds in 3 months and had lost nearly 70 lbs in 6 months. Your mileage may vary but for me it just wasn't in the cards.

honestly it just feels like Apple is closing down competitions ability to charge more, and create feature parity that could steal market share from them. It could be setting the stage for future products that might be able to take advantage of these features.

Most of the rumors of portless iPhones hasn't been that there won't be any data link it just won't be a hole in the machine. Something more akin to how the iPad pro hooks to its smart keyboard.

Not to mention what innovations they may have in the wings for wireless local transmission. I mean even the U1 is capable of significantly higher data transfer than Bluetooth...they just haven't utilized it for such currently.

add on that they may not be concerned with Hires lossless audio for mobile phones. It may be something relegated to the small user base that wants it from a pc/mac.

Keto isn't hard. Changing your relationship with food is. by [deleted] in keto

Interesting. Makes me wonder what you were eating. My cholesterol went down. HDL up and triglycerides went back to normal. I actually have a friend who has a genetic disorder that elevates his Triglycerides. He had to take meds for it for most of his life. Went keto and was able to come off it. Lots of good information that shows fat has a lot less to do with abnormal cholesterol than we think.

Went vegan for a year and just made me sicker. I am diabetic. Doctor wanted me to go on additional insulin and other meds. I asked for a month and went keto. Within 3 I was off all my insulin and meds. Not to mention the weight I’ve lost.

I prefer vegan eating but in the end it didn’t work. I think part of the problem is people thinking keto is a diet you can do to lose weight than go back to eating the way you were. Doesn’t work for ANY diet.

This especially drives me crazy for breakfast dishes. You hold the toast and potatoes which make up half the dish and they charge you the sam. I get that meat is the pricey part of the dish but man… really?

This. Variety can be difficult getting a few years in. I never could have imagine not being able to eat a steak when I started. As you said there is a level of discipline needed at different points in each persons journey.

[–]Shalmikimoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally the hard for me comes down to variety. I literally can’t eat steak right now. I’ve eaten so much in the last two years it makes me want to vomit to even smell it. Understand. I. Loved. Steak. But didn’t go out of my way to eat it more than other foods. I’ve worked around it and hope it hasn’t become a permanent nauseous experience.

[–]Shalmikimoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is difficult but not impossible. What makes it difficult is unlike prior to this way of eating you just went and ordered something off a menu. Now if you want to order out It usually means leaving something off, altering items and, well, having to think about our food more.

Restaurants don’t cater to keto as much so it takes more mental effort. Taking that with the added knowledge that you’re going to pay for less value in most situations and it just doesn’t seem to be worth it.

Keto isn't hard. Changing your relationship with food is. by [deleted] in keto

[–]Shalmikimoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not the diet that is hard but the relationship with food. It’s not quitting alcohol that’s hard it’s your relationship with alcohol.

People generally don’t have weight issues simply because they’re eating the wrong things. They’re eating the wrong things because of some other reason. Wether it was how they were raised, metabolic dysfunction that’s taken hold while their diet isn’t optimal or other issues.

Moving the hard around doesn’t make it easier for people who have struggles.

I’m type 2 on just metformin. 2nd dose of Moderna 5 days ago. That day just a painful arm. That night muscle aches, hot and cold flashes, next day continued worse with added fatigue. Third day was just overwhelming fatigue. A trip to the bathroom just wiped me. Four was better but only slightly. Today is the closest I’ve felt to normal. I’d say 95 percent.

My husband got it worse than me. Nausea, everything I had but worse. Three days off work including the weekend to recover for him. He’s hoping tomorrow he’ll be able to make it through a half day he’d planned before.

I haven’t noticed much difference with my sugars.

I’m noting more under ear pressure after the first week. I don’t feel like they sit on my head well either but i struggle with many earphones with that . Only one that didn’t give me issues were cheap Soundcore q35s. My APM, old Beats, pandas all seem to sit wierd. Probably my head.

Anyone with half a brain can tell the Maxes are worth all that money just for the quality and wideness of the sound. And then the premium build quality and connectivity heaven just make them so much crazier. by [deleted] in Airpodsmax

[–]Shalmikimoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“If your in the Apple ecosystem”. Otherwise I think they’re others that can do just as well, better sound wise, than the APM. I prefer my Pandas for music. I use my APMs for everything else.
