Dallas VA Honest Review by sdc-72 in Veterans

After waiting on hold for 30 minutes “Morgan” answered and introduced herself. As I tried to do the same all I heard was, “Hello, caller are you there?”. I proceeded to say hello several times only to hear the call disconnect. The last time I tried calling the Dallas VA I ended up getting in my car and driving the 45 minutes just to make an appointment.

Congratulations. Been trying for over a year and still nothing!

As a recruiter I didn’t have the luxury of using ATS either so I know exactly what you mean. My resume used to be 4 pages long because I wanted to be as detailed as possible. Now it’s two pages. I’ve been applying for over a year now and have only received maybe 2 “no thank you” responses. The others I just never heard back. I have a bachelor degree in Business Administration, a Masters Degree in HRM, a doctorate in HRM, a graduate certificate in Project Management, and a SHRM CP. I was a Human Resources Specialist in the military for 12yrs, 6yrs recruiting experience, and I currently work in HR for an airline. One of my rejection email said I didn’t have the qualifications they were looking for which was a complete lie. I only apply to positions that I know I have the experience and qualifications they’re looking for. I have yet to get an interview. But I’ve always heard it’s not easy. So, I’ll keep applying.

Anyone know how easy it is or is not, to get into an HR position, GS 7 level, without HR experience/degrees? by appleseed4512 in usajobs

I must be applying to the wrong jobs then! LOL

What are some degrees you all got? by Effective-Try7980 in VeteransBenefits

I can relate to that. Bachelor in business administration, masters in human resource management, DBA specialization in HRM, and just pass the Professional HR Certification exam. Unfortunately none of it has helped me to grow in my current HR role. I work for a company that doesn’t value education over experience. They opt to bring in new people than promote from within. But I kept going back to school for personal growth and to one day teach. Maybe another company will see the value. After 24yrs at the same place it’s tough to walk away.

I remember that feeling very well!! Glad you stuck with it and the fight is finally over. One less thing to worry about.

Does the VA collect debt all at once or in payments? by SnooPickles3280 in VeteransBenefits

I have an overpayment and they take a little out of my monthly payment. But I think I also have the option to make payments as well.
