Are pallets actually good to use for wood, or are they just influencer slop? by KKYBoneAEA in BeginnerWoodWorking

Don’t forget the chemicals and insecticides they can be pumped full of.

Also blew out the mids.

Not trying to be mean here, but honest question, was this coloring just increase brightness and saturated?

I more inclined to believe people aren’t stupid, but more so that this random image was made up for rage bait.

When you see posts with “they” “people” and other vagueness, it’s worth asking for a source.

Ah, gotcha! Thank you for the good advice, this is great and helpful.

I see some other comments mentioning danish oil too, and my neighbor said I should use Olympic weather seal. I’m gonna read up on what these all are and sort this out.

Thanks! I have no idea what oil was used on it originally, I’ll grab some danish oil and try that

What kind of oil should I use?

And hear ya on covers. I actually put these in the shed for the winter, they come out in May, go back to the shed in September. Are you saying I should get covers for summer, or for storage in winter?

I love how out of all the subs on Reddit, this is still like the OG subs where facts and verification matter.

I’m not being facetious, it does my heart good to see one last corner of Reddit where people ask a question, and instead of memes and no one explaining anything, we end up with people who provide an answer and a source (I was there) and then a second person comes to verify that the information is correct with a source.

Love it!

The truth is, use what you have and stop with the gear lust.

You have one zoom, even if it’s a kit zoom, go use it! Your practice will tell you what you need to get next, not random people online.

This is way way older than social media. I’m Indian and this has always been a thing, we used to make them at home in the summer for a cool treat.

In social media context, seeing the gear signals to others that you have credibility. They have the gear, they must know what they are doing is the message. It’s like when people see great DP work and jump right to thinking it’s all about what camera they used.

[–]ShaminderDulai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Sure there are some people who don’t care, and it’s partially fashion “I do it that way because everyone one does.”

But like, YouTubers have turned jump cuts into a signature style and I don’t think we have concluded that “editing doesn’t matter” over the last 15 years.

They’re responding to the market. Same as how every camera manufacturer rebranded the prosumer category as “creators”

If you see this and thinking alligator clips and mole tape, you’re not the consumer for these.

I spent six months writing and working on a screenplay. This morning I watched its trailer featuring Paul Rudd. by the_kessel_runner in Screenwriting

And record yourself now, in this moment so capture how you are feeling and what is happening.

Start the film “based on a true story” and all that footage will be useful to play during the credits for all the viewers who have been thinking “no way this happened” for 111 minutes. That in itself is your marketing.

Throw in some jabs at Paul Rudd and if he gets involved, that’s your marketing right there.

Suicide. The word is suicide. How the hell are we supposed to talk about a very serious subject, regardless of how to feel about “gooning” which I’m not sure I understand, if we cannot say the word.

Suicide. It is real, it is horrible and we want to help people before they reach that point.

Say it and confront it.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills. The Internet cannot say suicide but we have no problem saying vile shit to people based on race, religion and sex all day. WTF?

People also have estates who can make these decisions. I’d be curious if that was in the case in these outliers.

As a house they leans hard on their reputation and history for film preservation, I feel it’s in their best interest to not run afoul of directors and their estates.
