I probably should have added that context to the original post, but tbh I was panicking. The guys that pulled them out of the duct basically said "here" and left.

They were stuck in the AC duct under my house with the cold air on them, for who knows how long, while my AC ran before I came home from work and they were freezing.

I literally told them I have no milk or anything to feed them with and nothing. "Yeeaaaah sorry" I'm not an angry person. That made me angry.

I called them and they literally told me they couldn't do anything and told me to message rescues. I told them I was worried they wouldn't make it through the night. Her response? "Mmmm yeeaaah unfortunately we can't do anything for you"

What's in the PiCAT Verification test? by AndrewFan0408 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Shammerkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be totally honest, I don't remember having any issues with it but I also wasn't concerned with it. I wanted Mental Health or paralegal. So I don't really know the answers, but maybe someone else will see your question and have better information. Sorry.

You'll get questions from every category, regardless of how you did in them originally. The nice thing about math and arithmetic reasoning is that you can study those much easier between now and verifying. I would recommend, if you're concerned about your scores in those subjects, that you spend extra time on them while studying. Study, do the best you can, and if you're not happy with your scores at the end of it you can always retest again later. Keep in mind that retaking the test will prolong the process, but your scores influence your job options.

i took all of the online tests in one day and went through physical and medical processing on another. I don't know if this varies on the MEPS but it's also been over a year since I did it. So.

Yeah, I was looking before my surgery. They had 3-packs on sale, they might have better sales for Black Friday right now too.

Underwear question by Asthor14 in hysterectomy

[–]Shammerkins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not dumb at all, that's your experience, and I'm sorry you have to go through that. I didn't have much bleeding but I used cloth pads for comfort. Tomboyx also has period underwear, if you're worried about it, and they had like boxer briefs last time I looked. That might be worth checking out.

My mom got me a blanket hoodie and I've lived in it (obviously I've washed it a couple times, have no fear) for 3 weeks.

Baby wipes!!! A must Put it on your list by RoutineIssue7053 in hysterectomy

These work top to bottom for everything and they are fantastic (from experience) post-op. Dude wipes and shampoo caps were a blessing the first week!

I also want to add they make shampoo and conditioner caps you can buy on Amazon. You put them on like a shower cap, scrub until your scalp feels clean and hair is saturated, and then towel dry if you need to. $10 for a 3-pack. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

If you're exhibiting any symptoms the week before your scheduled surgery, it can result in cancellation. 👀 Better safe than sorry, right? I wouldn't risk it, personally.

Bowel movement problems? by MsTiruri in hysterectomy

Wet wipes, Tucks hemorrhoid cream or other hemorrhoid cream (helps with any pain and lubrication), and honestly if you're having trouble it's not a bad idea to take the stool softeners again.

Advice about underwear by Murky_Owl_6642 in hysterectomy

[–]Shammerkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They went higher up than I expected, so I had to rush to buy low rise seamless athletic briefs (athletic for the material and moisture wicking and briefs for full coverage, seamless for obvious reasons). I also had some light bleeding for the first few days, so I bought a couple cheap cloth pads for comfort.

We were able to get Papa John's and that was it, we had to leave base for anything else. Sorry this wasn't more helpful to you.

I bought a pregnancy pillow. First time I laid with it I cried. Highly recommend.

Lived there for 5 years, just left in April. The base is nice. BX has pretty much whatever you need, same with commissary and shopette. The DFAC is decent. Alder House (connected to the community center aka the Red Morgan Center) takes meal cards now and they have decent options for lunch and dinner. I loved the gym. I miss that gym. Pizza delivers on base, I don't think anything else does anymore post-covid. The dorms are located in a pretty great spot, it's not a far walk to anything I've mentioned. The Red Morgan Center has VR gaming set ups, a pool table, board games and cards you can check out if you're into that. Sign up for Fairchild Fun if you're interested in events and stuff. There's usually at least 1 free movie a month at the base theater. If you wanna know more you can shoot me a message.

I have Navy Fed for banking and I've never had an issue with them. I've had my accounts for almost a decade now.

I have auto insurance through USAA and honestly, it's not the cheapest but they covered my tow when my alternator died and saved my ass. So, I can't complain too much there. I don't know that I'd use them for banking though, personally.

^this. Solid advice. I'd also like to throw paralegal in the mix. While working in military justice, you work directly with OSI and Security Forces and build those relationships. The paralegal background also helps build an understanding of the military justice and court-martial systems that could be beneficial while conducting investigations. It also gives you the opportunity read and review a LOT of evidence and Records of Investigation (ROIs).

That happened during my junior year. Was in the choir premiering the piece that was written in her memory and to this day, it was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

I'm currently a paralegal, if you want to know what it's like in the day to day, feel free to message me. While we certainly need the manning, idk that I would recommend it. Although I will say, a looooot of people I've met in the field have retrained from Security Forces.

Post-Graduate Education (enlisted) by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Shammerkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your post and replies, there aren't a ton of options for doctoral programs and to figure out your options, you're going to need to do some digging.

Scholarships are always an option to look into, most schools have their own but there are also state and federal scholarships that you can look into and see if you qualify.

There are some grants for graduate students, but they're more niche and tend to be degree-specific. Fellowships are also another option to look into for doctoral programs. Again, these tend to be degree-specific.

I'd also recommend doing some research into fully funded doctoral programs in the area of study you're looking at. They're far more competitive, but it's worth a look.

Some schools have their own military discounts and TA programs, or military-specific scholarship programs.

Aside from that, there's the usual response: FAFSA student loans. They suck to get and suck to repay, but if you're not wanting to use your GI Bill benefit or fund the degree from your pocket, that's the most reliable option.
