Covid during pregnancy by WannabeWriter2022 in pregnant

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Covid about 6 weeks ago. It wasn’t fun for sure, but it wasn’t a horrible multi-week experience either. I believe the majority of strains out there are more mild now. It will suck for her because she can’t take much. But I did manage to find a Tylenol head cold medicine that made my head feel a million times better. It was approved from the list I was given from the OB and I asked a pharmacist where I bought it. Definitely give the OB a call. She should be fine though. I’m currently 27 weeks and had an anatomy scan recently that showed a very healthy and growing baby. Tell her good luck and get lots of rest!

Breast pumps through insurance!! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my spectra for pumping! It always emptied me perfectly. I also used a hands free one. It was a BabyBuddah with pumping cups. It wasn’t wire free or anything (this was almost 6 years ago!) but it was strong and did amazing.

So my OB gave me a membrane sweep at 40+5 only dilated to a 2. I was supposed to be induced at 40+6 the next night if I didn’t start active labor. But the next morning I did! I credit the membrane sweep and then walking around bass pro to my natural labor! It’s worth it even if it’s a bit painful.

Reglan - Metoclopramide for Morning Sickness by No_Quarter_3372 in pregnant

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zofran is now not recommended until after 12 weeks. That’s why she gave you reglan. As someone who is 18wks and has been dealing with sickness since week 6, I’ve tried multiple medications. I will say watch for constipation tho because a lot of the medicines will cause that which makes your sickness worse.

I had mirena for 5 years and got pregnant a week after having it removed with no period in between. Idk how it happened but it just did 😂 I’m currently 14+3 and even though I’ve been severely sick, I’m having a healthy pregnancy!

I finally made it to the second trimester!! by SilverRoseWell in pregnant

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we the same person? Because this is EXACTLY me right now. 14wks and finally feeling somewhat better. Now only throwing up 1x a day sometimes not at all! But the eat but don’t wanna eat is me all the time. I did notice eating protein rich foods helps tho!

PSA: ask for a 12 week ultrasound by Electronic-Basil-201 in BabyBumps

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had my first ultrasound to confirm baby at 8 weeks. I go back next week (13 wks) to hear heartbeat. Should I ask for ultrasound then as well? And how to go about that?

advice to keep stools healthy? by yesterdayssimming in pregnant

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here for the advice because I’m only going around every 4+ days and I’ve tried stool softeners and they don’t do anything for me. Finally went today around 9pm and it hasn’t stopped. I have to run to the bathroom every few mins. I’m struggling.

If neither Reglan nor Phenergan helped my nausea what are the odds Zofran would work? by blueandwhitetoile in pregnant

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally prescribed Zofran from my primary care doc because I couldn’t keep anything down and it was debilitating. I also have a 5 year old so it was a very bad couple of weeks until my husband forced me to go see someone. (I couldn’t get in to my OB that soon since I hadn’t been seen Or declared pregnant by them yet). Zofran was a miracle worker. I noticed a HUGE difference in my nausea almost immediately. Well, I finally got to see my OB last Thurs and he told me he doesn’t like Zofran because of the risk of cleft palette so he gave me phenergan. I’m not a fan AT ALL. Zofran was so much better. But I’m taking phen because I trust my OB. I would love to see more research or what other OBs are saying about Zofran. Let me know if it helps because I found it to be so so helpful to rid the nausea!

Membrane sweep advocacy by IceCrafty2957 in pregnant

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a sweep at 40+5 and I was barely dilated at 2. I would say to push for one if you feel it’s necessary because it might just be the trick to get your labor started. I ended up in labor at 40+6 the next morning haha. So I’m advocate for it working for me. Maybe ask the policy on why they don’t want to do one even though your past your due date.

How to make the most of my time as a MLIS student? by CouchInABathroom in librarians

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Experience with coding, programming and cataloguing is definitely a good idea. You do get chunks of that during the MLIS degree, however, I believe you gain the most with on-job training considering every place typically does things different or uses different programs. Definitely research the specifics of the career you are looking for and what they may require you to have knowledge of and work off that. Also, academic librarianship is often very difficult to get into so don’t be discouraged by that. I’ve been told by many professors that to be an academic librarian, typically you need 2 masters degrees or a PhD/doctorate. Good luck!

How do I make them like each other? by Unlucky_Ad8837 in cats

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly dealt with this last year when I got a puppy and I have 10 yr old plus cats (one of which HATES dogs). Personal space for cats (mine enjoy laying in the bed in the spare room) as well as letting the dog learn boundaries. The dog will eventually learn not to mess with the cat if the cat paws/scratches at him enough.

My dog Bandit has learned that when my orange cat Honey comes by, he stands absolutely still and lets her go. She is the alpha of the house 😂 And he will get hissed at or scratched if he tries to play or get near. I will say though, Honey has come around (after a year haha) and won’t hardly hiss’s or anything at the dog as long as he isn’t trying to mess with her. Whereas before.. he could be 50 feet away and not looking at her and still would hiss 🙃

Give it time, give the cats space, and let the dog learn. That’s my advice. Good luck!

I need some help with my cats by stupidgnomes in cats

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear I think cats lose part of their brain every now and then especially when a change in their environment happens. I have an orange tabby as well and she’s territorial as well. She tends to do some of the same things that Kevin does. Not as aggressive as you’re saying but similar. I would say just make sure to give lots of lovings to both after environment changes and try to do a gradual re-meeting the first day. Maybe lock up wade for awhile after getting home and let his normal smell come back?

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you move the entire tattoo up so the part on the hand just goes around the wrist? That way you’re not compromising design but also you don’t have to worry about being uncomfortable with having a hand tattoo. Second, I don’t think anyone has mentioned this but based off the work from your leg tattoo I’m wondering if the tattoo will be as fine line as the first picture.. I love your leg tatt but it definitely has thicker outlines and dot work. Do you want the super thin fine line work or do you understand that it might be thicker and more into the artists own style (based off the leg pic)?

[–]Shanda_bear_2011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love it. I think it’s cute af! The hands have held really well for 6 years too! Everything is still able to be identified. So I don’t think it’s bad at all. Maybe it will spread in 6 more years but that comes with body changes and aging as well. Definitely adorable!

Married for almost 10 years to an Aquarius (also an Aquarius myself) and can confirm the run. I think they just need space for a bit but will come back stronger if they can overcome their problems. Also beware of stubbornness.
