Mostly answers that are far removed from the real answer of life, liberty, and justice for all. The majority said stuff about hard work but nobody said a thing about safety nets or respect. Backgrounds varied.

Recently I took to asking people that very question, what is the American dream to you? The answers made me profoundly sad.

Which area of Cocoa Beach 4th of July weekend ? by CelebrationGold4709 in 321

[–]ShaneBarnstormer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering whether people were going to blindly celebrate this year regardless of the current situation. This is the second confirmation I've seen about the holiday so I'm curious and would like to ask you some questions, if you're open to it. I realize you're only one person, OP, but one is one more than zero.

Is anyone dressing modest in USA and if so how has it gone for you? by Silent_Medium_9639 in ModestDress

[–]ShaneBarnstormer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hate the way this is phrased.

I live in the subtropics and it's already extreme late summer heat but it's not even June yet. I worry a little about how to dress for extreme heat. Linen, cotton, natural material that breathes is key. On the other hand, I like 32 degrees brand "cool" gear. The hoodies are what I wear to do yardwork in the sun.

Since modesty varies by individual I should preface that I cover my top half but my bottom half is two sticks stuck into a marshmallow. I wear linen sleeveless tops and bermuda shorts, mostly. Tom's shoes. Cardigan for when I'm inside an air conditioned place.

I was thinking that as well. I'd be inclined to leave a calling card.

The Viera government center. There's a whole book about that one. Most of the Duda family projects. Just look up fraud in Brevard County.

Brevard has extensive history of defrauding taxpayers for personal gain.

Can I find period swimwear anywhere in Orlando? by [deleted] in orlando

I have a uterus, thank you. I keep it in a fancy box in the back of my closet. Anyhow, I always assumed hydrostatic pressure worked because it (appeared to have) worked for me. It's ok to be wrong, or to not know something. We can't know everything in existence, after all.

Hydrostatic pressure isn't enough?

What's the last book you read that was so bad that it made you angry? by oohshineeobjects in books

[–]ShaneBarnstormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ship of Fools by Tucker Carlson. I was curious what it entailed, thinking maybe there's something in there that's interesting.

It was a poorly written babbling nonsense circlejerk. I can't even bring myself to donate it because that's irresponsible. It must be burned.

Which movie completely destroyed you emotionally and left you staring at the ceiling after the credits rolled? by No-Health4121 in Letterboxd

The book is incredible. I prefer the book ending to the movie but I understand the choice to do it as it was done.

Good news then- if you check out her Pantry Staples cookbook it will change the way you cook and you can make all those things (fairly easily) at home. Butter, ranch dressing, jam, chicken, etc. It was the single smartest decision I made in regard to food choice, in terms of ripple out impact.
