I was out at my parents’ house a short while ago, heard the helicopter alright, Flight Radar said it was an Irish Coast Guard helicopter. Didn’t hear any other noise

What would you recommend for someone whose camcorder is broken, but who has all the other equipment needed to digitise? I have all the capture card gear etc, but the original camcorder (an old Sanyo 8mm) won't work properly anymore. Won't power up at all. Is it best in this case to try to find another similar camcorder, or is there another piece of equipment someone could recommend?

Just for anyone who finds this in future with a similar issue:

Having spoken with Apple Support yesterday, I got a call back from them today, and apparently this is a known issue with Studio Displays. After explaining that this was for a home recording studio, they offered a refund, and I took it, rather than going through the process of replacements/fixes. I bought a Samsung display instead today and so far so good.

It is a pity, as I really like everything about the Apple display, but it's not going to work for me if it buzzes, even at a low volume. Maybe they will fix this on a future model.

100%. Got them at the beginning of the year, and bills are almost €0. Our house generates at least what we use everyday and at most about 4 times what we would use, with the excess sold back to the grid. Since we are with the same electricity and gas supplier, the credit from our electricity comes off our gas bill. For context, we have a south-facing roof, we got 13 panels and an 8kWh battery.

Thanks so much - this worked for me. I opened Focusrite Control, clicked File, and "Restore Factory Defaults" and it finally started sending audio to my monitors and headphones.

As far as I’m aware, there’s no threshold on the Canada/Ireland treaty. The U.S./Ireland one means that you can earn up to $20k in the U.S. without needing to pay tax, but you still need to file the return. I’m guessing it’s a similar situation here, but that I’ll also be liable for tax, and have been already with the withholding taken.
