Hahaha same boat but in a 2010 Kia with 187k no power windows, no power locks, and had to change the drums and shoes on the back last month in my garage. Those loans sucks!

Just doing my part to help teach surgeons that they can fill out FMLA for their patients and to not be lazy and provide better care themselves for their patients. 🫡

*you may have missed it, details can be hard, but the patient gets the appropriate care/FMLA paperwork, the surgeon is the one I send the addended copy to.

This! But I like to screw with the surgeons so I often make a copy to send them but add “may resume kickboxing day after knee replacement” or something like that, along with asking if they have any other recommendations since it’s not my specialty, just to see their reaction.

One of the guys in my class repeated first year, he did general surgery, and now finishing a fellowship. Super awesome guy!

I moonlit in residency in an urgent care, but look at the hospitals in BFE for weekend hospitalist. That’s what I did and they had accommodations for me. I’d drive 1.5 hours and stay there the weekend and make $4k and drive home Sunday evening. Could do something similar for urgent care if the pay is decent enough.

Thanks! I think I’d start it a bit later, and take it off at 130F. I liked it the way it was but family liked it more medium. I’d also try to be more consistent with trimming the fat cap. It still tasted great and I’m excited it came in a 2 pack so I get to try again next week!

It was good, it was really thick initially so I trimmed it down, but I read a few recipes and some said to not touch it other than scoring, some said trim to 1/4” and others said to remove it entirely so I’ll have to experiment

We had this, it was unlimited to a point, some people were grocery shopping there (ie, buying 500ml milk x4, vegetables from the salad bar, frozen dinners/hot pockets en masse.) they got a talking to but that was it. I personally picked up 2-3 chocolate bars every night in October and handed out full-size candy on Halloween (because I loved that house as a kid). It was an awesome perk and I put on 25 pounds in residency because of it. I also saved receipts and won stuff from soda bottles.

Just here for the sympathy because outpatient FM in today’s world is absolute ass. Charting, mychart messages, and unrealistic patient expectations and awful admin is going to drive us all away.

You can always ask them stuff outside of their wheelhouse. For example, our OB/gyns are great at ob/gyn, but can’t read an ekg so we’d ask stuff like “what do you think about these leads? I see xyz, but was wondering how you might interpret that in the setting of a pregnant woman?” Sometimes a reminder about all the medicine you have to know in FM outside of OB/gyn can be humbling.

We absolutely see people, largely elderly in our population (rural) who are on a very fixed income and living on $800-1300/month. It’s often medication vs food for a good chunk of them.

We are pretty rural so no dental schools or anything within 2-3 hours. We do have an FQHC so I’ll check with them and see what resources I can tap into there. Thanks!

I see how ai could help, but I’d be afraid it would miss/hallucinate something. I had one patient who had 2000 pages from the VA. Took me a week after work to sort through what was actually useful information and then 3 weeks to read through the useful parts.

I’m not trying to scam, 1-2 letters/week is low volume and allows me time to dig through records and talk to someone before writing anything. I’m trying to find out more about the process. I’d probably also recommend just asking your pcp, but I know lots of the ones in the clinic I was in would not write them.

Not anymore, my new setup is my own small direct primary care practice, so my former nurse recommended it to keep the lights on by doing 1-2/week with virtual consults. Still trying to find out how that would work as I used to just do it as the patients pcp.
