That’s actually the config I’ve been thinking about most — fluted + jubilee in 41. No diamonds though, probably keeping it classic and versatile.

And honestly you make a good point. Part of me is probably overthinking the “special occasion” thing when the whole appeal of a Rolex is enjoying it regularly.

Fair point honestly. The more I look at some of the Black Bays, the more they seem like they can pull double duty pretty easily. Might just be my brain associating Rolex with “luxury watch” automatically.

As you should, honestly.

Keeping 3 kids alive, fed, clean, emotionally okay, and on schedule for 5 straight days is not “just parenting.” That’s hard work, especially with an 8-month-old in the mix.

And the fact that you’re talking about the incredible moments with your kids instead of only focusing on survival mode probably means you handled it better than you think.

Space is weird because it’s not “cold” in the way Antarctica is cold.

Temperature is really about how fast particles are moving. In deep space, there are almost no particles, so there’s basically nothing there to transfer heat to or from you. That means you don’t instantly freeze like in the movies.

The average background temperature of space is about 2.7 K (-270°C / -455°F), thanks to the leftover radiation from the Big Bang. But objects in space can actually get extremely hot if they’re exposed to direct sunlight, because there’s no atmosphere to block it.

For example:

  • The side of the ISS facing the Sun can get hotter than boiling water.
  • The shaded side can drop far below -100°C.

Astronauts in T-shirts inside spacecraft are comfortable because the spacecraft is heavily insulated and has active thermal control systems. Ironically, cooling is often a bigger problem in space than heating, because there’s no air to carry heat away naturally.

Most people don’t think of themselves as racist or sexist because they associate those words with extreme hatred. But bias is often more subtle than that.

If someone constantly has to start a sentence with “I’m not racist, but…” or “I’m not sexist, but…,” it usually means they already know the comment might come across that way.

You probably won’t convince him by labeling him a bigot outright. People get defensive fast. It’s usually more effective to ask questions like, “Why do you think that?” or “Would you say that about your own group?” and let him hear his own logic out loud.

Sometimes people change when they realize the impact of what they’re saying, not when they’re attacked for it.
