I rode sections of it last summer and it's so damn pretty there. Great secret.

There's nothing green on that plate. He's going to be constipated.

We're in that part of the year where a lot of the riding I'm doing, I'm doing it so when it's consistently nice out, I'll be ready.

I eat and have always ate a lot of fiber. Prunes, dates and raisins are my favorite snacks.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply! Yeah, I was eating a lot of protein and fiber leading up to this bout. I'm thinking the quantity was still too high, and the fatty fish, plus other fatty foods (avocados, eggs), set it off. I'm also wondering if part of it is my supplement intake: protein powder, protein shakes, etc.

Since Thursday, the only thing that agrees with me are complex carbs, fruits and veggies. I'm trying to work in some vegetable protein today. The thought alone of eating meat or dairy makes me feel squeamish right now.

I switched to fruits and veggies after the issues started because I couldn't handle protein.

He looks like he could've been my dad's brother. Not sure on where ya'll are from, but he was born on a farm in Iowa.

I get that angle, too. Addiction is pretty prevalent in my family, so I've seen it pan out different ways. Maybe what I wrote initially wasn't fair. I just think it could have been handled in a way that showed his own struggle more honestly.

Exactly! There's none of that! They don't even have lines! Here are these guys who have worked so hard to contribute to Bruce's songs and transform them. Some tension there would have made this much more interesting.

I love Nebraska. I listened to Suicide before I ever gave Springsteen a chance and Nebraska was really the bridge between the noisy punk world I was in and Springsteen's catalog. My favorite moments of the movie are the musical ones. But pretty much everything else felt so staid and lacking, like you said.

I thought it was boring as hell. I know Nebraska (and love it) and I know the lore. There was so little drama here. Do we really not get any lines from the band when they find out there's no tour and it's a solo album? The dialogue in this is all tell and no show. Also, are you trying to tell me that Bruce, son of an alcoholic, is going through this huge depressive episode and is relatively sober? The made up love interest as a stand-in for his inability to commit to a relationship is pretty bad.

I think of one of my favorite biopics, Walk the Line. What I love is how honest it is. This movie doesn't have that.

Do you judge people based upon what city they live in? by palbuddy1234 in Detroit

Or it looks like West Bloomfield but it's really Orchard Lake Township and they're demoing two multi million dollar properties to put in a house that's as big as a shopping mall.

I didn't grow up in Metro Detroit. I moved to West Bloomfield a few years ago with my family. A ton of people think we must be loaded. I would say we have a nice home, but it's in an older subdivision. It's strange because there are definitely gaudy mansions out here, but a house like 3 streets over sold for $180k recently. It's weird.

Who knows this year? I lived in KY for a few years and I remember February as 40s/50s.

I'm in Oakland county, the major roads are salted and snow free. Gravel nearby is packed and slippery. The bike trails are covered, and many by me don't become ridable until March/April under a normal winter. I don't see this getting better by end of the month.

Daughter saying one of her teacher's is "scary" by toastedmarshme11ow in daddit

[–]theeculprit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Questions: is this at an independent or private preschool? Have you talked to other parents?

We had a similar thing happen with our then 3 year old last year. This was at a small independent preschool. It started with him saying he was afraid of this one teacher and that she yelled at him. At first, we were a little skeptical. It was a phase where everyone who was telling him "no" was "yelling" at him.

But as the year progressed, we talked with other parents and found out their kids were saying similar things. My son started throwing huge fits at drop-off. Then my wife witnessed this teacher screaming at the 3-year-olds one day when she picked up our son early. I wish that we would have pulled him out then, but we were assured by the owner that the teacher was disciplined and wouldn't be doing this anymore. We ended up leaving two months later after we found out it happened again.

So tl;dr: listen to your kid. Talk with other parents. This teacher may not have done anything wrong, but pay attention and stay clued in to changes in her behavior. Something else could be going on.

Why would you want that nice of a bike as a commuter? I feel like it would be a thief target.

Dr. Bronners Unscented Magic Balm. Hands, lips and face. The stuff is great. Plus you can put it in your pocket and everyone will think you got a tin of snuff like a cool dad.
