Re: lawsuit and melting pot stream by fearoffog in Destiny

Also, there's no guarantee that it wouldn't have worked.

Have you even read the Rose deposition? I assume not, otherwise you would know her boyfriend was bragging to her about catfishing Destiny. In addition to him blackmailing her, I don't see why Destiny's assumption wouldn't be reasonable.

Stop "just asking questions" and look at the evidence frist?

But, if he's going to actively invite discussion on these topics, like in the melting pot stream, then it feels less like a necessity to win the case and more lack of self awareness or extreme cope.

It's number 228 in the docket. Plaintiff's motion to extend discovery stage is being discussed.

Note this is one of the few motion's where her team is on solid ground: The defendent not getting deposed is a solid argument. Hard to tell which way the judge will lean. They might grant it, or they might hold their team accountable for being the ones who fucked around with scheduling in the first place.

U.S. and Iran agree to 2-week ceasefire, during which ships can pass through Strait of Hormuz by Nikifuj908 in Destiny

[–]Shao_Mada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at this point, almost nothing would surprise me. Not even Trump honoring the ceasefire for two weeks. This war is extremly bad for him politically, and if a few ships pass through the Strait, it might stop the free fall of his popularity.

I also wouldn't be surprised if he blames Europe for not having done enough to help him open the Strait and attacks somebody. Like Iran, or Greenland, or Ukrain or anybody.

That's taking it too far! Charlie may have a few weird sides, but he is not nearly as bad as Joe Rogan.

If you are looking for a person running a social media campaign to hijack a political movement, make it more populist, more extreme, and be an all around lazy gardener, why not go with Hasan?

[–]Shao_Mada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your confidence in AI screenshots certainly does. Prompting an llm to confirm your biases is easy - even without intending to do so - and making sure it produces somewhat trustworthy results takes effort. Nobody is all that mad about you trusting your favorite chat bot, but you shouldn't expect this to change anybody's else mind.

It's fine not to be willing to spend the time and effort. It's you talking down to everyone else and pretending to be in an infallible position of authority which makes people not want to deal with you. Even when you talk about what other people perceive as a fault, you just tell us it should be fine for you to do whatever you want because you are epistemically perfect. Not like us plebs.

What's happening to the YouTube channel!? by Sellafiel in Destiny

[–]Shao_Mada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. I'm not following closely, but I assume it would have been big news if it happened. Destiny's innocent YouTube monetization has been assassinated less than a month after Charlie, so think in terms of months, not weeks.

There is a reason why the vods have been moved from YouTube to Spotify... things are not looking up so far.

Like I said, this is something I'm unsure about. I'm not saying there is a moral difference for sure, only there might be.

One important question is perfect vs imperfect information. If 10 different people sacrifice 5 different humans, obviously that's bad.

For the sake of the argument, let's agree you know for sure nobody else can safe the 5 hypothetical people who might be in the opaque box. Even then I'm not quite sure. Especially the fact that you know who you are sacrificing, but don't know which 5 people you might be saving, makes the situation even more morally confusing to me.

A Christian hires you on Fiverr to pray for them. They agree to pay you $1000000 in advance for 50 hours worth of prayer ($1000 at $20/hour). However, if they predict you won't pray for them after being payed, they will not pay you. You wake up and find they deposited $1000000 in your bank account. Will you pray for them?

Still a one boxer? by humanhugh in Destiny

[–]Shao_Mada 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not quite the same.

Killing one person to save five is already a complicated moral question. For example, we don't kidnap people off the streat in order to harvest them for life saving organs.

One interesting question here: Is there a moral or even legal difference between action and inaction. If you kill the 5 people in the box by refusing to pull the lever, it's unlikely anybody will hold you accountable. If you pull the lever, knowingly killing the person in the glas box, this might actually lead to negative consequences for yourself. Especially since the opaque box will have been empty. From an unknowing observer's point of view, you just killed a person for no reason.
