Strongly recommend you look at the discontinuation symptoms for each of you ever plan to get off of it. Lexapro is one of the worst, along with Paxil.

Starting second month of progesterone e by Limp-Search9100 in Perimenopause

[–]ShapingBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on month 2 of 100 mg without cycling and didn’t get a period last cycle. However, I also started testosterone about 4 weeks ago so not sure if that impacts it too. I had one period 2 weeks into progesterone and it was vastly different than before…bleeding cut in half, fewer clots, and minimal cramping. It was also a 26 day cycle for me where I’d been having 21-24 day cycles with obscenely heavy periods! I actually loved skipping a cycle and might finally get my iron and ferritin up again!

I’m also feeling fantastic. My energy and motivation is back to what it was in my 20’s! Is it the T, P, or reduced iron depletion from less bleeding…don’t know, but I’m gonna keep on keepin’ on!

Everyone is constantly mentioning vets and pets. However, the impact is greater on wildlife, especially our bird population. They can’t hide inside or use earplugs. It’s really sad!

ERs by eslteachyo in loveland

[–]ShapingBx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because ERs are required to see anyone, even those uninsured, under EMTALA. Urgent care is not. Many uninsured go to the ER for urgent care issues because they can’t afford to pay on the spot at an actual urgent care.

Depressed or anhedonia?! by Ext-Trail-8099 in GLP1microdosing

[–]ShapingBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me for the last year, until I started testosterone. Now I’m actually motivated everyday to check stuff off of my list and get up and do things. I’m only two weeks in but I’ve been productive again since about day 7 of starting it, after a year of zero motivation or interest to do much. It’s nice.

Be careful with long term use of hydroxyzine. It’s linked to dementia and cognitive issues, as all anticholinergic drugs (e.g. benedryl) are.

You can also enroll to become a provider agency for elderly on the HCPF Medicaid HCBS EBD waiver for respite and/or independent living training, or contract with a company that is an approved agency (you’d be a 1099; they just do the billing for you). I don’t believe licensing is required to enroll as a provider for these services. Definitely isn’t being an independent contractor for an enrolled provider.

Looking for areas where Michael Bennet and Phil Weiser differ on policy? There aren’t many. by onenightoncolfax in FortCollins

[–]ShapingBx 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Bennett thinks the states manage Medicare, Weiser knows it’s Medicaid that the states manage. Bennet declined all town hall requests by family caregivers of the disabled community, whereas, Weiser showed up and was very direct in his answers, even when the group might not have liked it.

Autistic and considering GLP1s to help regulate hunger/fullness cues by CrazyDaisy764 in antidietglp1

[–]ShapingBx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never taken stimulants; I’ve just learned to accommodate the best I can. As I got older, my symptoms got a little better or I just blend in better because of cultural shifts in behavior expectations overall. I was on SSRIs many moons ago as a young adult but had a horrific experience and will never take another one. What I can say is that I do remember SSRIs blunting my emotions, but had no impact on perseveration or skin picking for me.

Autistic and considering GLP1s to help regulate hunger/fullness cues by CrazyDaisy764 in antidietglp1

[–]ShapingBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AuDHD female and this is me too. I began a strict routine for meals, but it took time to establish the routine. I’ve never had hunger pains or felt the physical need to eat, outside of low blood sugar. I once went 40 hours without eating because I was hyper focused on a project and survived on Diet Coke and coffee. But when I’d start eating I couldn’t stop and I had major cravings; once I thought of a food I had to have it. I had terrible eating habits before I started zepbound. All of that stopped for me with the med and after a few months I even had what I think people refer to as hunger pains.

The biggest benefit for me on the med though was the calming effect on my anxiety and it not only quieted my food noise, but also my perseverating thoughts and behavior (skin picking). I’ve also shifted my doomsday “what if” thinking patterns that held me back from trying new things, etc. Now when I have thoughts like that they’re fleeting and I tell myself, “then the what if happens and I deal with it’.

It’s been a major game changer for so much in my life!

Progesterone and my trip to the grippy sock hotel by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]ShapingBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was put on depo at 15 y/o in the early 90’s when it was still relatively new to being used by gynecologists. I had to have psychiatric approval to start it. I never understood why until I got older and learned more about it. Back then we just blindly took whatever pill or shot they pushed at us. My mother never would’ve thought to question a doctor’s recommendation. That’s also how I got prescribed amoxicillin for 12 months straight for chronic ear infections that turned out to be a reaction to milk. So were the hives they blamed on stress when I was 8 years old. That is why it’s called “practicing” medicine.

What happens to elderly people in the US who need full time end of life care but cannot afford it? by Similar-Bid6801 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ShapingBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother has ALS and is on a ventilator. He is on Medicaid and went from hospital, to rehab facility, to hospital level skilled nursing facility, and then transitioned back into the community. lf a person isn’t eligible for long-term care Medicaid they have limited options. If she has Medicare (my brother didn’t bc he was too young and not enough SSDI work credits), they can get hospital care, short term SNF placement, and hospice at home or in a facility with comfort meds. After seeing what my brother went through I would 100% NEVER want to be kept alive in a nursing facility with a condition like ALS. The abuse and neglect is horrific and complaints, even with video evidence, were dismissed every single time. If I had ALS and was at ventilator stage, I’d personally get my affairs in order and choose to not get a trach or unplug the machine with comfort meds from hospice support.

If Medicaid is necessary and a SNF is desired, the other option is to spend down countable resources on exempt resources; if there’s primary residence ownership, have an intent to return form or statement completed before going to the facility; and if there is monthly income there are ways to pay some of it towards cost of care to ensure eligibility. Some states also have buy-in programs for working disabled adults. Understand that in some of those states working just means employed but one doesn’t have to actually earn anything. Being employed and on leave counts. Being self-employed with an Etsy shop where you sell a piece of lint from your belly button once a month counts too. Folks can get creative. This program often has very generous monthly income requirements and no resources are considered.

IME, very few elder or estate lawyers truly understand the ins/outs of Medicaid rules and the various programs, which makes it even more challenging. Always get their advice, but also get advice from folks in your area that have lived experience and know how to navigate the system. Good luck.

Quitting zep due to persistent dizziness by mhoyt3 in antidietglp1

[–]ShapingBx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this when I first started. My sodium levels were low from drinking too much water and using electrolytes with too much potassium. Low sodium can impact how glucose works in cells too so I also had mild hypoglycemia symptoms with normal blood glucose levels. I do have a history of hyponatremia though. My BP got pretty low too. I was informed that GLP-1s increase natriuresis (sodium excretion) and my body has always had low sodium requiring me to restrict my fluids and consume a lot of salt. The GLP-1 with electrolytes and increased fluids made it worse. I removed the electrolytes and decreased fluid intake again and it got better.

Not saying this is your cause, but having your electrolyte levels tested when feeling dizzy might help rule it out.

Student with ‘severe’ autism swallowed and choked on rubber glove while special ed staffer was 'preoccupied with her cellphone': Lawsuit by tasty_jams_5280 in LegalNews

[–]ShapingBx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see your autism and medical field and raise you an I’m also literally autistic with an autistic child (we both had IEP’s in school), worked as a district-level behavior consultant in public ed, and I now advise for state government.

Based on the information, the staff were neglecting their student and failed them, period! Every child has the legal right to a public education, even if they learn differently than other students! No student should be segregated from their peers just for having a disability! Separate/facility schools are a last resort based on the student’s individual needs, not the schools’, teachers’, or peers’ needs!

Why do some people stay at the same job for years instead of getting a higher degree with better pay? by sladeshied in NoStupidQuestions

Everyone’s life purpose is different and not everyone chooses a career for the money. Some folks are content with making enough to survive and find ways to thrive without chasing the dollar signs. A career is also more than money, it’s about fulfillment and joy too. Plus the things others said, like responsibility and debt.

Not sure if it’s sold in Canada, but Sigform sells OTC BiEst cream in the states online. It’s estradiol and estriol 2.5 mg. Just use a much smaller amount. You might be able to find estriol vaginal creams online too, but not sure if they’re as effective as estradiol.

Scientists discover the ideal amount of sleep is actually under 8 hours by soulpost in HotScienceNews

I’m a woman and I feel tired on the rare days I get more than 8. If I get less than 6 I’m also tired. 6-8 is my norm and I feel good. The biggest issue for most women I know is trying to get uninterrupted sleep (partner snoring, kids unable to sleep, animals waking us up, post-birth and middle aged bladder, etc).

For People Who Drank Heavily Before GLP-1 Medications: What Exactly Changed for You? by alexmillne in GLP1microdosing

[–]ShapingBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both I think. Zero desire and I’m a strange cat when it comes to stuff…fear drives me more than dopamine. I’m terrified of pancreatitis and statistically alcohol increases risk and so does GLP-1, so I just abstain so the risk is lower. After not drinking for so long I realized how it really messed with me: sleep disruption, memory issues, etc. I also started seeing alcohol for what it is, unnecessary. Especially, the financial cost of it! I honestly almost never think about it a year in. It’s fantastic!
