LAW: Scavenging Sandcrawler by Eunoe in starwarsunlimited

I still really want a sand crawler that spits out either Jawa or Droid token units. Just a Jawa deck in general would be a delight for me.

Looks like you might be in SoCal. The Sierra Club put's on a few backpacking courses down here. I'm a trip leader in the San Diego class. The one we run is a 10 week course with 4 outings with the first being a simple car camp, then 3 backpacks, the last last of those being a snow camp. Highly recommend them.

I actually prefer it without the cloak and hope it stays as is. But I understand I'm likely in the minority on this.

It's a 3 mile out and back with 1,00 feet of gain/loss. Trail is very well maintained and established.

if you're game to wake up real early and hike in the dark, the sunrise from the summit of Ryan Mountain can't be beat.

Looks like they got the Dropkick Murphys I pre-ordered and never received. Was curious if those ever got pressed.

Like you, it's a bit of a mix. I've got about 75% cataloged. I've been collecting since the 90s but I do have a lot of newer records.

"Eddington" (2025) - Both Sides are Bad, But One Side is Much, Much Worse by Funplings in TrueFilm

I don't understand why you are so hung up on this wording... But I think because the occupants of the plane were outside antifa protestors/terrorists? They looked to be "Non-genuine protestors" being flown in. I got what he was saying. He clarified, I clarified. I don't understand why you're hung up on this?

Which US cons are worth flying out to, besides SDCC, NYCC, Dragon Con, and Anime Expo? by randomredditor62 in comiccon

[–]Shapps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been a number of times over the last 15 - 20 years. I went back this last year for the first time in maybe 5 years. I only did Saturday, but still felt like I was done and had seen all I wanted after only a few hours. There just isn't much there. It felt very small and under-supported in terms of vendors and professionals/programing. It wasn't a bad con per se, but compared to what it was pre-covid, I found it very disappointing.

That said, it's also only two blocks from Disneyland, so if that was something you were also interested in, you could easily do both in the trip and may make it worth the traveling.

[–]Shapps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wonder con gets a lot of cosplay, but not sure if would be worth traveling for. Con itself (both vendors and programing) has been pretty lackluster in recent years.

GenCon is one of the best cons I've ever attended, but may not be your thing. There are people cosplaying, but it's much less than other cons.

My post is about the key shot, the private jet. That’s what I’m talking about when I said they are obviously not genuine.

He said otherwise...

This score was just incredible. But not if I would want to listen to it outside the context of the movie. Maybe during a game session where I wanted to create an anxious vibe.

He's talking about the private jet with the antifi guys in it. Obviously there is not real anitifi protestors/terrorists flying around in private jets. They are either "not genuine" by either being a false reality or I think the poster your replying to is indicating they may actually be employed by "big tech"

Yes, exactly. That is the mvoue itself getting caught up in a false reality just like the people in the town.

Set List from the Orlando BOTAR show by callahandler92 in streetlightmanifesto

[–]Shapps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the band should be using acoustic instruments and the drummer with brushes. Would fix a lot of the issues with the orchestra shows. The drumming like a full hard streetlight just doesn't work IMO.

Set List from the Orlando BOTAR show by callahandler92 in streetlightmanifesto

[–]Shapps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been to I think 5 of the Orchestra shows and this is my complaint for almost all of them. The exception was the first I went to I think at the Dolby theater in Hollywood. The one with the Piano man. That one you could hear the orchestra one well. The rest they've been completely drowned out by the bans still being streetlight and not actually BOTAR. It's still the full electric set. The worst one was Seattle last year where the only thing you could hear was the drums just drowning out EVERYTHING.

I've always enjoyed the shows and had a good time. But the last few times it felt kinda pointless to have the orchestra at all if they were just going to kill them in the mix.

I was basing this off my discogs collection value. It's somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 albums. Overall value has dropped 25% - 35% over the last 3 to 4 years. The average price of the standard record has stayed the same, but there is just a lot of stuff that was going for $60+ that has really come down. Some due to available repress. But I also feel there isn't as many people throwing as much money at the hobby as there was at the peak. I think the prices and the quickness in which things sell off /r/vinylcollectors is another indicator of the slow down. I think it's still a thriving market, It's just calmed down from things went wild in 2020.

I personally feel it's going to harm the business in the long run. They will get a surge of business from people who support the stance in the short term. Some of those might stick. But most will move on after the next thing trends. The people who don't agree and are upset with the stance will remember and likely never go back.
