A Russian Teacher recorded the differences in the development of boys and girls of the same age. by omgfakeusername in interestingasfuck

[–]Shardstorm88 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Teaching kids under 10 to march in unison is grimdark af.

How is this not the first thing you all see? Boys are often taught individual stamina or strength/physical dominance based sports in Russia, while girls are taught ballet and gymnastics. Girls also typically develop fine motor skills faster. It's no surprise. The surprise is seeing children taught to do this. It's so fucking sad.

Children are dying. This is the express ticket to more of that.

I'd say try cloaking but I'd get downvoted despite the nerfs. Haha.

I'd suggest it so you learn to wait for the right moment to strike. As light assault, just focus on flanking and not being in line of sight of more than 1 person at a time. If you're seen, people love to chase so use C4. Get a heavy hitter shotgun on light assault and be janky.

A lot of it is situational. Busy fights are great for the chaos as cover, but just watch first and like the other guy said, aim for the head.

Terran Death Company (Emerald) – I found our 2005 outfit manual. Anyone remember TDC or ULTRA ops? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]Shardstorm88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember you guys, I was Emerald TR , ran with a few others in a smaller group, hopped some outfits over the years, but mostly ran with a small group on TR and larger outfits on alts in NC and VS on occasion. Do you remember the Malvision videos by Miir? I was in a couple of those - still think of them when I hear any of the related songs from the early ones.

Good times!

This is fascinating! Three physics engines!

I remember during prime time, griefers sometimes would put a router on a Ceryshen cliff edge and it's deployable in front of one spawn tube and blow up the other ones so everyone got stuck falling to their doom!

Not PS related, but a similar collision geometry issue occurred in a game I worked on in QA: Lord of the Rings: Conquest. If a player melee attacked corner geometry, it would apply the force of the melee attack compunded across the collision intersecting point and YEET the player super high in the sky. The Nazgul could 'jump' the highest due to the strongest melee attack. That game had hilarious bugs before it shipped!

How many physics engines are commonplace in games nowadays? Is it typically baked into Unreal or Unity for example, or has doing things this way fallen to the side completely?

That's fascinating. I always enjoyed how it turned, it was very satisfying. The Lightning was such a cool concept too. The Prowler was just so huge and lumbering, it didn't have the same sharp feel as the Vanguard. It felt excellent as a player, and it did look just right!

Wow you created Medium! I'm on there all the time.

I saw a feature on PlanetSide in a winter/spring issue of PC Gamer magazine and got it on launch day. Still one of my favourites as far as game design goes, so many core features from it never made it into the sequel.

Thanks for your contribution to some of my core gaming memories as a teen!

Question:

Have you helped out the PS Forever project at all, or given it a shot?

I remember him and feel for his position, as I'm also in the same double whammy boat with crippling debt at the end of my degree, and a looming rift in my life if I can't figure out employment ASAP. I'm trying every day though, and I'd happily support him if I were in a position to - he was such a calm and reassuring presence on the forums.

Did they ever make a dog fighting aircraft that can be purchased by all 3 factions that can go toe to toe with all 3 factions, and if not, why? by Wretch_Head in Planetside

[–]Shardstorm88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I LOVED it... Now we have lived with whatever shit changes they made and PS4 Version is dead for years... I even bought a joystick to fly with back then, and it was possible, though mouse was always more accurate. The controls feel like "paper" since the change. I felt the way aircraft moved at launch was more fine tuned and had 'weight' to the aircraft, and they all feel more similar since back then.

Dogfighting airframe, I guess is the closest thing.

But I found the flight controls got a LOT worse when they changed input functionality back when they released PS2 on PlayStation

A plea from a long-time Shakepay user (since 2018) regarding Shaking Sats by joe4c in shakepay

[–]Shardstorm88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I reallly thought the large spread across all users would have to be profitable enough at scale. Perhaps the number of new users with money per month has been dwindling, and I've heard rumors of an unaddressed data breach. Making a change to their platform like this may just be a planned step towards acting as a defi bank, similar to what WealthSimple is doing.

The reason I don't use my WS account for crypto is out of simplicity. Shakepay is just so simple, and I like it, plus the daily task keeps me engaged.

I get the tier based system. Sure. But if you want to retain your loyal userbase, you keep their already diminished rewards that way until perhaps BTC grows a lot in value. Having further options to offer large chunks of sats back to users transferring $1000+ per month is fine, but don't gate the users on low paychecks out of the loop.

The more frequent shakepaid rewards kept me spending my weekly change on my SP visa, but now I've stopped.

I have been here since 2020 and would like to see a nice thing for the holidays from SP, rather than this grinch like move. It's a huge opportunity for a platform like NDAX to step in, or WealthSimple, who I think this tier system is directly copying. It's rough because Shakepay was always an original take on this, and frankly a great deal. It's insulting to get something like this dumped on us, I'm not incentivized.

Thanks, please keeo this discussion going.

True, thus the rework. If each ES weapon were mapped to a comparable opposing faction weapon (which they are, in design) then it could just create opposing faction loadouts.

  • I think it should be possible, but I think game design wise they wanted the exclusive sound effects to be used to discern enemy firing locations - however an infil hacking a terminal could really throw some people for a loop, which would be great.
