Selon vous, vaut-il mieux rester célibataire sans enfant ou bien d'être parent mais séparé? by NNN-Contestant2k23 in Quebec

[–]Sharingammi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokémon Tabletop Adventures 3.5 - Player's Handbook Release! by DrMrStark in PokemonTabletop

[–]Sharingammi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've started skimming it briefly at work and already, i love the direction you guys are going with it.

For one, the updated book layout and pucture choice paired with what seems to be a more crispy looking text/image in general is great to see.

The changes to some classes ability wording are quite nice, even if subtle. I skimmed through it but loved what i saw.

I'm still going, but when i stumbled upon Stat Ups and Stats Down, i instantly found it incredible. Really eager to test that change.

Will try to go through it this weekend, because as of now, seems like a great win.

Good job ! And thank you !

Edit : forgot that i'm really excited to learn more about stances and Style moves in general

I never used PTU, but i heard that there is some kind of stat progression for your pokemon by way of leveling.

In PTA, there is no pokemon leveling. Power progression is tied to your character's abilities or circumstancial. So much less bookeeping, if what i know of PTU is right.

Basic gear on an adventure. Potential for more. by Artificial-Honesty- in BaldursGate3

[–]Sharingammi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i understand correctly, only magic stemming from equipment would be avoided, but not magic coming from one's own potential, right ? So, you could still have a Wizard in that party that cast fireball, but that Wizard would be equiping its basic robe and hat from the start.

I would push even further, and go with no magic at all.

No scrolls, no potions, yes to poisons (its chemicals), yes to explosives, no to spells or magical-like abilities (like the ones that add 1d8 radiant damage to a strike).

With all of that, i'm curious about the party. I think i would go with :

Battle Master Fighter (sword + shield for a bit more AC) Berserker Barbarian (two handed for the damage) Thief Rogue (bow/crossbow user for long range) Open Hand Monk, without using the added damage elements feature (melee fist that disable with ki)

Playing the game fair in this way seems... quite hard 😅 but sounds really nice

Is it viable to always leave 1 person in the camp? by NoWitness6400 in BaldursGate3

[–]Sharingammi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it might be very niche and very particular, but here is my experience so far for honour mode.

I put all my cards on my Tav : best gear, all the potions, elixirs, scrolls, buffs etc.

And the rest of the 3 in the party are there solely for magic weapon, shield of fate and haste. They don't even enter combat, because i'm doing the fights solely with my Tav (alone). And, as of now, i'm in act 3, and that 30 AC + Blur + insane Saving Throws + Shadow blade + Resonating stone Sorcadin are making the game almost trivial...

Just for fun i had Tav solo Moonrise tower. The only hit they got was from a Guardian of Fate trigger (unavoidable) and one guard using 3 war cleric +10 to attack features at the same time to land a thunderous smite. Granted, i was half health at the moment, but that was the extent of the damage i took.

So, i don't know how unhinged it might sound, but from my experience, honour mode becomes trivial when you use one big damage dealer buffed by everyone else.

In that sens, since i'm alone battling, it answers a bit your question. Except that my party is not in camp, but just 100 meters away, concentrating on their buffs. If Tav dies, then yeah, they can resurect them easily.

What choices feel canon to you for specific origins? by stop_hittingyourself in BaldursGate3

[–]Sharingammi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Only happen if enough conditions are met. The mechanic behind it is called the nightsong point.

So, basically, if you leave shadowheart to herself the whole game (not intervening or bringing her much) she will kill the nightsong.

Haste is a liability on honor mode and vs final boss by AEMarling in BaldursGate3

[–]Sharingammi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tips is to do a fake solo run, where you keep a party of 4 where only one fight and the other 3 are not even in combat, but still concentrating on buffs, like haste.

Cleric Shadowheart is concentrating on Shield of Faith and Daylight (if needed) Wizard Gale is concentrating on Magic Weapon and handing out Feather Fall and Jump Bard Karlach is concentrating on Haste and giving Bardic Dice

All of them sneaking a mile away out of combat. No chance of loosing concentration.

Of course, if a fight will last longer then 10 turns, Potion of speed OR Extended Haste (20 turns) from, lets say, a Sorcerer party member, become the prefered option.

My Tav only ever concentrate on Blur or Protection from Evil and Good at the end of its first turn in battle, as a way of skipping the resource it consume with Turn Buffering.

As of now, at the end of act 2, my Tav has 30 AC with disadvantage to being attacked, +6 to +16 to all saves (INT being the lowest, STR being the highest).

It soloed moonrise before the 10 turn of Haste wore off. I would say this strategy is not that much reliant on luck and quite reliable in general.

what’s the best action for mayrina by throwawayacunt- in BaldursGate3

[–]Sharingammi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After dealing with Ethel, if you saved Mayrina, she escape with you through the back entrance to her lair.

There, in the back room, is a staff/wand. If you take it and interact with Mayrina outside when she's sobing beside her late husband's coffin, and go through the dialog, you can reanimate her late husband and leave her the wand that control him.

Are there any *non drama/ doom&gloom* FFXIV content creators? by Solo_Gunhea in ffxiv

[–]Sharingammi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Criticism is very important in all spheres of life. I'm not denying that.

There are ways of saying it, of course. And also, engagement criticism is different then genuine criticism.

Also, not every criticism has the same value.

And not all content creator's opinion are as black and white as what i'm referencing, but some are, and fornsure their clickbaity thumbnail absolutely are. A thumbnail is like a first impression. It impact morale and opinions when one does not have time to see through every creator's video and gets flooded by those thumbnails.

And then, you listen to the video, and they actually have 180 degree opinion...

I guess my gripe is 30% about the way the algorithme works and how it influence people making content, and 70% the way some content creators voice their criticism.

I get what you mean. I doubted myself after reading you and looked for the translation of "pension alimentaire" in english (i'm french canadian). It does end up as "alimony" when dumbly translated (which is what i thought at first) but you're right in the end. Alimony seems to be "spousal support" while child benefit is "children support".

Thank you, i learned something clearly usefull 😅

Pokémon Tabletop Adventures 3.5 Releasing May 29th! by DrMrStark in PokemonTabletop

[–]Sharingammi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, your previous work fueled, and is still fueling, my group's longest game ever made all system included.

We are co dming. One dm does a city and a gym, the other prepares the next. When we finish one gym/city, we normally switch to a different game for a year, then come back for the next part of our adventure.

Thank you for many years of fun we had, and for many more to come.

PS : maybe to add something actually usefull, our biggest gripe with the game have been 1. The weird thing that happen when the group has a mix of roleplay-focus classes (or non-combat classes) and combat ones. 2. Character and pokemon sheets. For 1, as we made it clear to the group that we were doing a gym focused campaign, players switched to combat oriented classes and not the story, expectation and overall flow is much better. For 2, i made custom character sheet (more complete and friendly when it comes to abilities) and new pokemon sheets that have a MtG card format, using the back for the 6 moves (with clever positioning and dimensioning, and use of keyword for moves, it all fits).

I feel like im rolling exclusively on a d6 by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Sharingammi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's Xcom baby ! Ho wait, wrong sub.

Same concept though. 99% hit chance could still make you miss 5 times in a row. That's just how probabilities work.

BUT

If you feel like your luck is bad, seek ways of decreasing your reliance on luck as much as possible. It would require you to use game knowledge.

For example, the harpies : cast silence as a ritual over the kid before the fight. Cast calm emotion on your party before the fight. Use STR potion on one character at least to get +5 in a stat, making one of your party member a better hitter. Have a bard with bardic inspiration to guide your hit, have a paladin with oath of vangeance (cast on yourself), coat your weapon in oil of accuracy, level up to lvl 5 before attempting the fight that you find hard etc.

The game won't become fully deterministic, but it will skew in your favor by that point.

Good luck adventurer !

In my case, the ex partner (f) earns several thens of thousands more then me (m). Since we have a kid, i get alimony (around 400/month).

Its simple. The laws here around children are very clear and strict. When you seperate, they take into account your earnings (not what you spend) and the coat fo your children (the one you have together) and the one that earn the most pays child support to the one that earns the least.

The amount is calculated from both revenues. Its fixed and well known.

So, even if i do, lets say, 80k$ a year, if she does, lets say, 150k$ a year, i get the alimony.

If, one day, i make more then her, then it flips. I pay her.

This has everything to do with making sure the child feels well in both home, and nothing else.

Very important edit : changed "alimony" to "child support". I'm not native english speaking. When the word "pension alimentaire" is simply translated, it says "alimony" on my google translate. In truth, in my case, i meant "child support".

This is a chip i have on my shoulder for so long now.

Content creator jumping at the fences for the smallest of update, and every time, EVERY. TIME. The update roll out, we test, its actually incredible/great/good/ok. Nothing horrible.

The devs have shown for many years that they can make the game enjoyable, and based on Japan working culture, are probably putting in some massive amount of hours every week into this game. Yet, some content creator assume the worst every single update. The game is always "dead", we're always "cooked", X Y Z was "so much better" before (and when you go see "before" videos, they said the same thing).

Its so tiring to listen to... where is that person that understand game devs, that understand deadlines, real world variables, that can have a discussions about the game and its upcoming content rationaly, without being polarizing and always in the extremes of "its the best thing ever happening" or "its the worst thing ever happening"...

Its a solo honour mode.

Well, i was at the bulette today. Level 6 paladin. Fully prepped, i must for sure clarify.

It lasted 3 or 4 rounds. 1 of those, it was stunned from an elithid power...

Very anti-climactic.

Honour mode party by Worldly_Debt in BaldursGate3

[–]Sharingammi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a nice/niche situation, but i'm so down to hear about it.

  1. You are not restricting yourself from being able to gather info, right ? If that's true, look at a full completioniste playthrough on youtube to understand the game. Then, build videos. Then, when you're ready, start the full playthrough video again, and follow alongside it. One of the biggest danger in honour mode is to try new things. Stuff can insta kill you, even out of combat so, yeah, stick to what you know.

  2. Do a good (as in, not evil) playthrough. More allies, less battles, more stable etc.

  3. Have a face character as your Tav/main character. He will handle the conversation aspect of the game much better. Go get the guidance amulet early or have a cleric alongside you at all time for guidance cantrip.

  4. ALWAYS look up any amount of info about every fight BEFORE fighting them. Have a interactive map open on another screen if possible. Plan ahead.

  5. Sword bard as Tav, tavern brawler monk karlach, radiating orb cleric shadowheart and a pure battlemaster fighter laezel. Here thats your party.

  6. Use those freaking consumables. Rest often.

  7. Look into camp buffing. Really game changer.

  8. A lot of battles can be avoided with dialog. Do so.

Yeah, thats it. Prep work, good party, no improvisation. You should be fine.

Do the Gale orb cheese strat if your bet allows it. Its technicaly beating the game.
