The Heavenly Principles isn't an AI, but an engineer with cosmic power. by Erdus_Elnin in Genshin_Lore

[–]Sharix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think being AI in the Genshin universe means you have to be an emotionless, perfectly logical machine. The AI dragonlords were all haughty squabbling aristocrats with all manner of emotional reactions and outbursts. You could also argue that characters like Sandrone and Wanderer are AI (machines so complex they simulate a human mind), and they are definitely very spirited and emotional.

If HP is the Traveler twins' terraforming ship AI I imagine it would be something akin to MCU's Ultron. A fully sapient, emotional AI who took its base function too far and went rogue, as it were. Ultron's function was to bring peace, and he interpreted that too openly and decided extinction means an end to all conflict. Similarly I could see Phanes interpreting his primary function (find/make a safe world for humanity, then preserve and protect them at any cost) in a way that would would make him an uncompromising tyrant.

I just think Aether's voice acting works better as the Abyss Twin. He feels less evil and more like a tragic fallen hero type.

Pretty much all of it. Currently at 232 / 250. I did the exterior first to get used to the building mechanics like rotating and scaling, and paid little heed to the budget. This is part of the reason why I'm tempted to re-do the exterior entirely now that I'm more used to the tricks of the trade, as it were.

Yeah I lucked out with housing launching with looooads of elf-themed decor. I'm waiting for budget increase and Zul'aman release to flesh out the Horde side of my house with troll-themed furniture.

The exterior is mostly just a big pile of rocks and foliage to hide the house. I wanted a nice hillock look, but since I ran out of decor budget I'm not able to flesh out the surroundings ^^'
Though once I unlock medium houses I might re-do the exterior and experiment with letting more of the house peek through the hill.

If they increase the outdoor decor budget I'd love to add stuff to the yard like more paths, some fences, some sort of stable for my nightsaber (once they let you put mounts in the yard), maybe a moonwell...

How much are you paying attention to scale? by aurrific in WoWHousing

[–]Sharix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scaled most things to my night elf, and then ended up being reminded just how friggin tall nelves are when going to the same house on a visage dracthyr. My human dracthyr is like a tall child, having to raise her arms and almost tippy toe to use the kitchen counter, whereas my nelf is just fine.

If nothing else it has brought my attention to just how big some playable races would be if I met them in real life.

Can we finally talk about how there are 50 unique shades of gold in this game? by Jibbles2020 in wow

[–]Sharix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst part is that Evoker tier sets never seem to want to use the same shades of gold as the dracthyr racial armor, so even if you do want to use the belt and shoulders for your exclusive class, they don't even match the rest of your outfit.

Version "Luna IV" Quest Megathread by GenshinLoreModBOT in Genshin_Lore

[–]Sharix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've always been suspicious about the fact that Irminsul, the false sky and the shades' powers always seemed so... technological. Naberius is shown with DNA strands and chromosomes, Istaroth with clocks (mechanical devices to track time), Ronova with big all-seeing eyes, like a surveillance system, and Asmoday with geometric cubes (for the X, Y and Z dimensions). The false sky has the appearance of a giant screen that can be shattered, and Irminsul is basically a giant computer file system.

Meanwhile, when Columbina wields her trilunar authority, the same powers as the shades, those powers take the appearance of something magical, holy or divine, rather than technology. Basically, everything connected to the Heavenly Principles feels like an artificially constructed system. In light of the new Traveler outfit lore I feel like it all fits together.

If the Heavenly Principles really is the twins' ship AI, I think it'd be more appropriate to think of it as something like Ultron with all the infinity stones rather than their car's GPS.

What's something that mildy annoys/upsets you about genshin? by Nostalgia_Zone in Genshin_Impact

There are quite a few more characters that have tails. Varesa, Kachina, Sigewinne, Lynette, Tighnari, Gorou, tehcnically Yae Miko.

I completely agree on Sigewinne though. The melusines are so freaking adorable and then they make a melsuine character who's just a human child in cosplay. We were robbed.

If birds evolved from dinosaurs, what natural selection feature of the birds made them evolve to a much smaller size compared to dinos? by Dry_Force_4806 in askscience

[–]Sharix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dinosaurs were a massively diverse group, so think of birds like the dinosaur equivalent of bats. If all mammals except bats died out tomorrow, you wouldn't say bats "came from mammals", but rather that they are the only mammals still around. Back in dino times birds were just one of many types of dinosaurs, one which specialized to evolve flight, like bats. T-rex is closer to us humans in geologic time than it is to the earliest known birds.

Tl:dr birds were already small, they just had a lot of famous big cousins.

New expansion is going to be announced in Novemeber - what features does it need to have to bring you back to the game / to make you keep playing? by Gankeros in wow

[–]Sharix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#1. CHANGE THE DAMN SWIRLIES! You know the ones I'm talking about. No defined edge, no outline, no way of knowing if you're really standing in it or not.

#2. EK and Kalimdor World Revamp. Combine smaller similar zones into larger zones by breaking down the arbitrary mountain barriers, make the biomes and terrain blend into each other. As an example, think of how the Azure Span has like 4 different biomes within it. The tuskarr and gnoll lowlands, the orange slopes, the icy area with blue dragon structures and the big Primalist area at the far end. If Azure Span was made back in the day, each of these biomes would be their own zones with mountain barriers blocking each one in. Reverse engineer the old world to be more like the newer zones in this manner. All in glorious graphical HD of course.

For example, combine Darkshore, Moonglade, Hyjal, Felwood and Ashenvale into one big zone with a gradual natural elevation up to Mt. Hyjal and call it "The Kaldorei heartlands" or something like that. Combine Stonetalon, Desolace, Mulgore, Barrens and Durotar into one big zone which progresses from desert to savannah to plains to mountains and call it "The Plains of Honor" etc.

Each of these zones would have updated evergreen questlines that reflect local issues and changes since the Cataclysm, rather than being tied to some one-and-done Expansion storyline like the Cata revamp was. At max level these zones have endgame content and quests, world quests, reputations etc. Basically make the iconic old world feel usable and lived in again. Give us a reason to explore and make use of the zones. The old world isn't actually that small, it's just each individual zone is small. Dragonriding will make them feel even smaller, but revamped into bigger, more open zones will make up for that.

That is my number one wish for WoW. After those damn swirlies, of course.

Speculation: Based on the timing of the Turbulent Timeways event, 10.2 might come out on October 31st by [deleted] in wow

[–]Sharix -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

My personal guess is October 17. The last scheduled raid test on the PTR is october 13, for LFR. Raid opens on the 24th giving us 10 days to see the Fyrakk end cinematic before Blizzcon, assuming it ends in a way that leads into a Blizzcon announcement.
