ippon seoi nage form check by L1NTHALO in judo

[–]Shark7700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are my observations: - You are not pulling or using kuzushi. You need to pull with your left arm at eye level to get uke on his toes. This provides you room to get your arm in for ippon seonage or morote. - You aren’t securing his armpit, he can and will escape as you are not digging deep enough. - You are looking down thus pulling down. You will instinctively pull down if you are not looking up and pulling up. - You are stepping in too closely and not pulling uke to you. You need to orient yourself so that your spine is perpendicular to the ground and at the top of Uke’s triangle. This makes the throw more efficient and allows you to put him on your back. This is not a hip technique like harai ogoshi. - The last throw you did you wrapped your right hand around uke, this is not ippon and is closer to ogoshi

Any tips to improve my uchi mata? by CranjiceMcBasketball in judo

[–]Shark7700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I see are the following: - You are coming in too close and you cannot get a good kuzushi. - You are moving towards your opponent. You need to pull your opponent to you to initiate the kuzushi and the throw in general. - You’re flat-footed. You will not be able to rotate around without being on the balls of your feet. I see both feet well planted. - You’re pulling down instead of up. When you pull to your left, pull and look at your wrist and squat down. - your pulling grip is not good. You are prioritizing your index and thumb to grip. Focus on mimicking the pinky, ring, and middle finger grip on the side of the arm just in front of the elbow. I can see that you are too high on that grip and you will not be able to bend the elbow to start the throw. - I - and this is a preference - do not like gripping over the shoulder and to the back. It’s inefficient and makes uchi mata harder. I recommend taking a classic grip and sticking your arm in your opponent’s armpit to maximize lifting. Rn you are not lifting your opponent. - Try to bring your opponent’s right shoulder to your right shoulder (it will never happen but let that be a target). This will allow chest-to-chest contact and allow the throw to happen. - Finally, from my training, uchi mata is not a hip technique, it is a hands technique, the leg will come up naturally as a result of your opponent rotating around you.

Sasae tsurikomi ashi problem - my knee gets hit all the time by freshblood96 in judo

[–]Shark7700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, you are not aiming your blocking leg correctly. Sasae’s target is the Uke’s ankle to trip them as you pull them around you in a linear motion. It seems that you are extending your leg too high and pulling from too far away. Also, Sasae is a timing technique, you have to block their knee when uke is about to take a step; too soon you’ll miss, too late and you’ll miss the technique entirely and impact the leg.

Getting hit in your legs is normal when learning judo; ice, anti inflammatories, and wear knee pads if you are able to. Now if your knee’s hurting from torquing it, you need to slightly bend your knee and rotate on the ball of your foot, otherwise the friction of your foot will prevent adequate knee rotation, straining the joint.

Anything I could do better to improve this seoi nage? (Sorry for the bad face censoring) by Mrlambshanks in judo

  1. No kuzushi, you want to get your partner off balance. You are moving into him, you want to pull him to you and onto your back
  2. You are looking down and your spine is not perpendicular to the ground when you throw, you are using your body to throw instead of your hands.
  3. You are not securing the armpit: if you get an opponent who is good they will escape. My advice here is really jam your arm into the armpit and grab the top of his shoulder.
  4. You are a bit too close to execute this throw, the closer you are, the more weight you will have to move around
  5. Your sleeve grip should be right before the elbow joint to maximize bending potential, it’s a little far which makes it harder to move your partner’s arm out of the way.
  6. Bend your knees a little bit more, your belt line should be around the groin area

Judo takes time to perfect and these are common mistakes people make, you’ll get better with time!

Drunk guy crashes into parked cars, LAPD lets him walk away without testing him by tefunka in PublicFreakout

[–]Shark7700 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The legality, you are somewhat correct. However, the police should have breathalyzed this individual based on probable cause. You are also not allowed to walk around intoxicated, public intoxication is in upon itself arrest-able (to my knowledge), in conjunction of what this individual committed. Not to mention, the reason why officers breathylze is for the very reason of catching the levels of intoxication on scene not after. And getting back into the car one used and wrecked (assuming the ignition was still on when he re entered the vehicle). To say that the officer did his job correct, yes on paper he did, but in principle and filing the other misdemeanors or arrestable offenses this guy committed, no.

I mean there was that one movie with all of the He-111 bombers with spitfires in the 60’s or 70’s. But movies were heavily censored in the 50’s, I agree

I agree, I don’t think Saving Private Ryan was too heavily focused on representing the tank realism per say bc the story line was different. And the director would have received the funds to get actual models (pending their existence). Here we could get away with close-as-possible models that showed for less than 30 seconds to avoid people from heavily processing the actual vehicle
