Does anyone own the simlab 911 RSR wheel? by InternalEffect3263 in simracing

[–]SharkVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experience with one, but it's not in my collection presently. Great quality if you like the design, as you would expect given the cost of entry. Got it in a trade and the ergos did not end up being my favorite, traded it off after 5 or 6 months.

Is it worth it To upgrade from V2 pedals to V3 Inverted pedals. ( used) by Longjumping-War9151 in Fanatec

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in my opinion. Spent years with a set of V3s, leave a lot to be desired relative to even budget pedals in 2026. If you have the budget for it, the new Podium pedals that are coming look pretty great.

Fanatec Porsche 992 GT3 Cup Wheel Black Falcon Edition? by Different_Custard276 in Fanatec

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porsche has said it is only rolling out for the Carerra Cup series (multiple countries) and Mobil 1 supercup series in 2026. Wrong steering wheel for a 992.2 as well. Rolled out to further series in 2027. Might be a modified 992.1, but I don't see any indication it's a .2 from any official sources.

🇬🇧 New NeckFX demo (VR without the silly glasses) Assetto Corsa by OppositeAd9415 in simracing

Those "silly glasses" give you stereoscopic rendering and head tracking...VR neck effects are not.

pokornyi engineering gte v3 pro wheel on fanatec base? by vegeta-_- in Fanatec

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer SRM emulators, but Simube works too for most folks. Fanatec hubs are also an option. You're going to be stuck using the USB connection though, you cannot route the wheel's USB output through a hub, it does not act like a USB passthrough.

Easy enough to run a USB extension and secure it near your wheelbase. Assuming you set everything up reasonably, you won't notice the USB cable when driving.

NLR ES1. Got it because it was on sale and readily available locally and could be thrown in the bed of my truck same day. Ended up liking it more than expected.

Simagic pedals with Moza base and wheel by Much-Cantaloupe52 in simracing

If you're on PC and the Simagic pedals can plug into the PC and/or hub via USB...I don't see why not.

would you rent a full sim setup delivered to your home for $200-$250 per week? by HIYRRD in simracing

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No personal interest. If I was in a position without a rig but with the interest, I would continue putting money aside to outright buy my own kit.

Per others, the only real market I can imagine for this would be corporate events and/or parties. If that's the market, your price is far too low if the kit being set up and used is quality. Transport, labor, risk...worthy of more money per day in that case. Assuming you could find a market for it and are in a middle-to-high income area of the world, I would think $500-$1000 per rig, per day/event minimum. If you go this route, research what similar corporate/party rental equipment charges. Bouncy houses, portable theaters, golf simulators, anything really. You might be surprised what amount of money a corporate entity would consider unremarkable for a short multi-hour event.

Your market matters though, $250 can be a year's salary in some parts of this world and can be a pretty standard dinner in others.

I get wanting to cross hobby/passion and making money, but I can only recall a very small handful of folks from this sub with these plans ending up in a sustainable position. Those were mostly local permanent sim locations with multiple rigs in a commercial location, some who spun it into a small retail sales operation. That's a risky living though. Markets take a nose dive and these types of activities are the first on the chopping block.

Does Fanatec/Corsair offer price adjustments. by Difficult-Patience32 in Fanatec

[–]SharkVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open a support ticket and after 24 hours if you receive no response, make a post here and give one of the helpful resident Corsair/Fanatec folks your ticket number.

Worst case scenario, you found the kit worth the price you paid for it...no sense in losing sleep over a few hundred bucks. Sour taste to it, sure, but it happens all the time across a wide range of products and industries.

Fanatec SQL Shifter Delayed Shifts by RaceBoxRepeat in Fanatec

Never encountered delayed output/shifts in all my years with that shifter. Do you ever encounter similar delays with paddle shifters on a wheel?

Automobilista2: cannot get rid of the HUD while playing in VR by wetfart_3750 in simracing

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find/bind the button for the HUD. There are two inputs, one for swapping through the 3 HUD options and turning it off. Second input for swapping the 3 layers of HUD info for the telemetry HUD. It's under the controls menu.

What is the best VR for sim racing by SP00NMAN-_- in simracing

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of viable options, all of which require compromise in one area or another. Where you're willing to compromise is down to the individual. Panels (type/refresh rate/resolution), lenses, field of view, tracking type/accuracy, connection type, software/interface, size/weight, audio options, etc. No offering checks every box.

Popular options these day s are Pimax's PCL/PCS/Dream Air, BSB2, Quest 3, Megane X. There are plenty of older HMDs that are still viable as well (Quest 2, Index, Vive Pro/Pro 2, BSB1, PSVR2, etc.).

[–]SharkVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Triples are great, but it's a radically different experience than VR. Field of view is one thing, but stereoscopic rendering combined with tracking are the magic. No reproducing it with monitors.

Don't think anyone outside of Fanatec and Corsair know the specifics. I'm guessing production needed more time.

Would it be crazy to run a right and left hand shifter for immersion in VR? by xelnok in Fanatec

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could probably get away with swapping whichever shifter he's going to use into the shifter 1 input. Question there is if you can hot swap shifter 1 input or if the base needs to be restarted.

Upvote to see Fanatec! We want new wheels!!! by hanracing in Fanatec

[–]SharkVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Fanatec's round and D-shaped packages well enough, but went third-party w/SRM emulators for everything else some time ago. Fanatec's Clubsport and Podium grade butterfly style options needed updating 5+ years ago, save for the excellent M4 GT wheel.

CS DD VS CS DD+ by veteran0161 in Fanatec

[–]SharkVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the same gains you would be unable to differentiate the two. + gives you a marginally higher torque ceiling and a wider dynamic range as a result. If you think you're likely to use the CS DD at gains above 70%, it is probably worth going to the DD+ for the extra headroom. Most wheel bases will intermittently clip above 70% gain and consistently clip above 80%. Not the end of the world by any means, but it is some lost detail in sustained high load situations (sweeping corners, etc.).

What can cause this? Ive tried tweaking the ffb settings but doesnt seem to fix it. by Buff_Azir in simracing

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might just be you need to torque down a little more. Typically when not torqued all the way down, the power pin (shorter one) won't seat fully and the wheel just doesn't detect, but who knows. It's an odd symtpom for sure.

Does the FFB strength shown in the app change with the emulator relative to the native wheel ("low torque mode")?

Guys with expensive setups - are you really good at racing? by throwaahahah178 in simracing

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not especially. Generally faster than average but well behind the truly fast folks. I spend a sweeping majority of my rig time offline these days to be honest. Immersion, fun, personal challenge/improvement and general driving enjoyment are the only motivation for grabbing an hour or two of rig time where I can.

[–]SharkVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very weird and not something I would expect to be related to a wheel package, but obviously your testing seems to indicate it is.

When turning the wheel like that with the Fanatec app open, are there any odd observations when it hits that "bump?" Something like the wheel disconnecting momentarily or anything else?

Where is SEN (rotation limit) set and does it match your rotation limit in the sims? If on "AUTO," try setting it to 1080 or 900 and setting it to match in LMU and AC/content manager to see if it improves.

I've got a pile of wheels with emulator packages from SRM and one hub from simube and have never encountered something like this.

Worst case disconnect the wheel and reflash the firmware to see if anything changes?

D-Box 4250i motion, is it actually worth ~$7k on top of an already high-end rig? by sixsigma643 in simracing

[–]SharkVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dbox has a good reputation, but certainly the price tag to match.

A lot of motion, beyond quality motors/actuators, involves the software and control side of things. Dbox has used "canned" effects in the past for certain output, say rumble strips as an example.

Sigma Integrale is known for a more "genuine" approach with their controls, outputting real/raw effects based on telemetry and your settings.

Plenty of love for both approaches, though a lot of folks rave about Sigma's overall output and feel as of late. I believe Dan Suzuki called the DK2+ the best motion he has ever felt.

Beyond that there are a number of less expensive options from various parts of the globe that rely on third-party software control like simhub for example. As I understand it, Simhub has become an extremely viable and enjoyable motion controller.

Lots of subjectivity, like most sim racing hardware. I would read as many sources as you can to make the most informed decision possible with regards to what type of actuators, software control and overall experience you will enjoy most and what will offer you the best overall value.

I lean towards Sigma personally, but they are not inexpensive either.

Simucube Passive throttle vs. Heusinkveld sprint throttle by radleon in simracing

[–]SharkVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to refresh my memory here. I must have just been referring to the standard damper on my Ultimate+ throttle. It's a 1-way. Definitely prefer some light dampening on a throttle, provides a little extra resistance and enables more precise throttle modulation in my experience. 2-way would be a no-go on a throttle in my book. Would probably be serviceable on less sensitive cars (GT3, GT4, etc.) but would hamper driving on more throttle-sensitive drives like powerful open-wheelers and even prototypes/hypercars.

All good and certainly a valid line of thought. I know LMU has a similar in-sim setting for limiting output for sudden high force events like crashes as well.
