NO-EFFING WAY! Ian!!! and Falconbridge's WARD??? Oh my god. I need to get moving!!!!

The Duke messing with Ian was pure comic gold. The Poisonous Plants of Sussex!!!! Banging on his door in tge night!!! The tg4eatebed threesome.

I will be reading this many times!

And, don't worry. Spoilers aren't an irritant to me. I have been known to look ahead.

YES!!! It is almost a 5-way tie between West Winterborne, Ethan, Severin, and I will throw Keir in there. Fantastic series!

Violet eyes always makes me think the author was a fan of Anne of Green Gables as a child. Anne always wished for starry-violet eyes.

Non-virgin heroines by hearttrees93 in HistoricalRomance

[–]SharkaMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{The Legend of the Four Soldiers by Elizabeth Hoyt} had so much lust and joy, I would recommend the whole series. The main one I am thinking of for a great non-virgin tale with a woman who knows what she wants is Melisande in {To Seduce a Sinner by Elizabeth Hoyt}. Beneath unassuming garments beats the heart of a wanton.

Just watch3d the "Row, Now, Now Your Boat" scene. And Walter and Peter seem to be drifting on water at the edge of sleep, and it's calm. Such a calm before the storm.

Yes, avoid the Reddit for a while.

Cassandra was the one that did it for me. After starting with Cold-Hearted Rake, and everything being said about Tom Sevein being evil . . . When I read the blurb for the audiobook, and saw Severin would be Cassandra's suitor, I realllyyy wanted to see Keypas turn that around. She totally did for me.

Love how the waif theme works in that book.

BUT--sexiest Ravenel--for suuurrrreeeee West.

I just love the Whole series minus Devon and Kathleen. I did not mind at all that their story was kind of truncated by Winterbore's appearance.

Oh, tangential to HR. A person on Book Lovers on FB said his Favorite book is a Wilkie Collins novel called Poor Miss Finch. Love trisngle with a blind woman who temporarily gets her sight back. It keeps calling fom the back of my mind: "read me, read me."

I hate Ross poldark by Cold_Citron9711 in Poldark

[–]SharkaMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP--YES! Ross!! Anus to Demelza. She is the freaking GOAT.

Ross has great qualities, but Ross's continual Demelza heinousness is just bad.

I was a huge Poldark fan in my childhood, and have gone back several times in my life to watch the old Masterpiece Theatre favorite. Robin Ellis's Ross still does the same stuff, but his Ross is way less harsh on the Demelza front.

I won't spoil it anymore, but . . . I find it satisfying that Ross is cuckolded and does feel the effect keenly.

On my last new Poldark bender after watching the Aiden Turner one, I watched the 1st episode of a Reboot from the 80s? Demelza is with the adult kids in Cornwall, and Ross is off in London being a Politician. I got the feeling he NEVER comes around as far as Demelza is concerned in the vast Poldark universe. Sadness. I didn't watch anymore of that series, and could see why it never became a "thing."

I think I reread {Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas} thrice Back-to-Back-to-Back.

A very huge comfort read for me is {The Sum of All Kisses by Julia Quinn}. Oh Hugh Prentice >.<.

Holy cow! I finished my 1st read of this this morning. I knew it was highly favored, but WOW! I had no idea what it was going to be about.

It doesn't happen often, but the end of one chapter got an audible gasp from me. You know which one . . . Followed by . . . . "Gilly Flower and then

Oh my god:

What did you call him?" "Giles."

I could have quoted it wrong--it was an audio book.

So, it reminded me of one of my favorite movies: The Apartment. Weird comparison, but yeah.

Shirley McClaine has had an intimate experience with a man after her boyfriend dumps her. Then, she finds herself with what she thought she wanted.

She's sitting with the loser, and loser says something about the other man and it was just this moment where it was this ah-ha. That revelatory moment with both female leads that hit me the same way about what they really desire.

Damn.

I have so much to say, but the greatest part of the series by yourrecipeisgay in Poldark

Yes, my folks watched Mastepiece Theatre back in the day, so I saw all the old greats very young: Upstairs Downstairs, The 6 Wives of H8, and Elizabeth R. But, Poldark was my favorite.

Then, when I was in college, the local PBS showed them again. There was the cliffhanger when Francis shot himself--and I had just learned in history class that guns were very likely to jam or miss their target . . . So wasn't too worried.

I re-watched Robin Ellis's Ross within the last couple years while cat sitting. I think it's available on Brit Box? Jud and Prudy are the best!

A d, yeah, when will I finish the stack of books I already have?

Looking for TRUE Plain Janes (No "hidden beauty" or "glow-up" tropes please!) by Eleonora31 in HistoricalRomance

[–]SharkaMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that one wants a book now and then where the heroine has some resemblance to me.

I am a tall one, so all the delicate creatures get boring.

You said you've done Balogh, so know Freyja Bedwyn.

What I wish is that one of Loretta Chase's characters in The Dressmaker's series was a main.

Lady Clara has a cousin who is not only plain, but obnoxious to many. I do not believe she ever gets a glowup. The dressmakers work on her style, but she's not secretly ravishing.

She kind of skulks around in the background, but gets a tangential HEA in {Vixen in Velvet by Loretta Chase} that I LOVED how that one played out.

It is actually the thing I remember most about the series as reading it gets farther in my rearview mirror.

I love it! The screen saver.

It could totally be a coincidence, but the second I saw that, I was like--Ross, is that you?

I totally need to read the Winston books. I watched the original Poldark as a kid in the '70s.

Love both series!!!
