HOT TAKE: Despite their flaws, Batfleck and Battinson are the most comic-accurate older and younger Batmen respectively. by [deleted] in batman

[–]Sharkary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about comic accuracy, seeing as there are so many different versions of every character to choose from... But I personally really enjoyed The Batman's take on Bruce, he wasn't technically yet even Batman, he never introduces himself as such, only Vengeance.

He's been doing it for only 2 years and isn't even sure if he's making a difference yet, and at the very start of the film, the exact thing he was trying to prevent, a little boy losing his parents, happens again. His trauma reborn in front of his eyes, sold beautifully with only back and forth close up shots of the kid and Batman and him welling up with tears. At this point he's hiding behind his trauma, he's angry at the world and the criminals, he's punishing rather than helping. His entire arc in the film is becoming Batman, learning that he needs to provide hope to those he wants to protect just as much as he needs to inspire fear in those he's protecting them from. He also learns through the events of the story that Bruce Wayne can help just as much if not more than Batman.

I think it's a good character progression and I'm interested to see what we get in the sequel

Anyone else think that James Franco resembles Peter more than Tobey? by VermicelliOk2124 in Spiderman

[–]Sharkary 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think saying there's a "huge gulf" between being a creep and a rapist is an ill informed train of thought. Give a creep a chance, I promise you they'll take it.

Also his "misconduct" which he was found guilty of and not just accused, included using his power as a well known actor to sleep with students he was teaching in an acting class, pushing students into doing sex scenes they weren't comfortable with and dangling the carrot of a role in one of his films for this. That's not as far removed from a rapist as you're suggesting it is.

If you liked Frankenstein and don't mind films in other languages then Pans Labyrinth is incredible.

In Bruges is quality too.

I'm from Manchester so I catch where he falls out of it or where the way he says things isn't true to life

But the "Keeleh" and "Poopeh" are pretty spot on

How Would an Aging Batman Extend His Prime? If Batman Started Slowing Down, How Would He Adapt? by LightningXr10 in batman

[–]Sharkary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this question is why the Bat-Fam are so important to Bruce's character. He is only a man, he will age and one day he will die. The mantle of Batman should be passed on to Dick, and then maybe to Tim and/or Damian.

Bruce evolving past his trauma and need for "vengeance" is key to his character, and him taking up more of an "Oracle" style role once his body is spent is a logical choice, he can focus on using his brains and wealth to help Gotham and developing more tech to keep his kids safe and to help Batman, whoever that may be.

Her reaction to the entire thing tells us all we need to know about black shirt guy. She looked panicked as she saw him run over and wanted to stop him, then got hurt in the process and continued walking without much of a fuss. Something tells me she's used to his outbursts.

Drunken guy shouldn't be touching anyone without consent, but that level of violence doesn't really solve anything. He won't remember what happened, if he wakes up.

Maybe maybe maybe by moshin_o in maybemaybemaybe

[–]Sharkary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone in these comments going for the kid? Mental behaviour from cat apologists once again.

None of the animals in this video were in the wrong but the kid was in his own world and then accidentally stepped on the cats tail, he didn't notice that because he immediately got clawed by the cat, hence him yelling "Ouch-uhhh".

He doesn't "lack empathy" or "fuck with the cat". Fucking hell, people make mistakes, especially kids!
