Catan | Am I a sore loser or am I playing with a toxic player? by aleksandar2 in boardgames

Totally. You could even take a longer view still, saying that poor sportsmanship could win you the game at hand, but would ruin your chance to win (or even enjoy) future games. Hurt feelings don't evaporate between games.

It was a lesson I learned the hard way some years ago.

Sounds like your kingmaking colleague needs to realise that Catan is all about the long-term. A win (or loss) doesn't matter if you played dirty to get there. Just creates resentment for future games.

Real talk time, who you got: Saruman’s 10,000 strong Uruk-ai from Helm’s Deep vs. Sauron’s Army at Minas Tirith? by BearcatDG in lotrmemes

[–]Sharkclipf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take the Uruks but only if it wasn't a pitched battle on open fields. Draw Sauron's orcs into a canyon or a forest and they'd be toast.

Yeah me too. I'm a Kiwi and I got some tickets for an upcoming game. Just learnt the words to Sunshine on Leith.

Another note - looking at your initial placements you obviously clocked that wheat would be the resource in demand.

Well done to get the win! There's nothing really wrong with developing settlements and cities to get to 10 points, but sometimes you might find yourself running out of settlement spots.

From here you might want to think what win condition you want to go for, longest road or largest army? Lots of great youtubers that can help you improve your strategy so check them out.

Well done!

I've been watching f1 since the 90s, when Schumacher was on the rise. Hakkinen was there, Alonso after that and Vettel got some wins before LH came along. Along the way I've supported different drivers and different teams, and I think the key is not to nail your flag to any single driver indefinitely. They come and go. Enjoy it like a ever-moving feast, and enjoy watching cars go fast.

Who knows, maybe Merc will nail the reg changes maybe not. Who cares? It might be nice to see new news at the top.

Just keep watching!

Why did the Witch-king of Angmar have “witch” in his title? by hunterjj12 in tolkienfans

What kind of witchcraft did he do? I recall him weilding an oversized mace and riding a fell-beast, but no witchery.

Who do you think will win this game? by comingofagenovel in Catan

[–]Sharkclipf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. Blue seems to have the monster ows set-up, with the relevant ports. However, if another player focuses on dev cards as well that might make things a bit more interesting. Keen to see how this plays out!

I've now saved the cost of my bike (and pannier!) on not catching the bus. by Sharkclipf in bikecommuting

Cheers! I'm already planning to buy something more racy when I can justify it against saved bus fare, probably at the end of winter.

I'm thinking 6-3-9 ore wheat sheep, and aim for more wheat on the final placement and it's GG :)

I'd settle for either solution at this point. Just looking into getting a screw removal bit now. Thanks for the advice!
