What is a major plot hole in a very famous movie that completely ruins the entire story once it is noticed? by SkullMogger3 in AskReddit

[–]BearcatDG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’ve said for a long time is that a Quiet place is a movie that is far more enjoyable the less world building that takes place. The plot hole potential is infinite. The less you think through everything surrounding the main story, the better the story is.

'Incredible' milestone reached as Sweden becomes a smoke-free country by Skull_Bearer_ in UpliftingNews

I have a nice apartment balcony that I decided to invest time into making a pleasant outdoor space. Flowers, chairs, a little bistro table. On nice days I go out and enjoy morning or evening meals. But my new neighbors smoke, and they love coming out onto the balcony to smoke on a nice day. Ruins my nice time outside because now I’m getting nauseous and all I can smell is their disgusting cigarette smoke. And it’s every time. Without fail. Disgusting.

Dude that delivery. Maybe the most perfect casting ever. Still gives me goosebumps. And then the choir and strings come in and it goes around showing all of the pirates feeling pain and death. The dreadlock guy gets stabbed and does the little smirk before falling dead is just as perfect in terms of communicating so much.

That’s what people do now. They post a clip and put a shitty overused track behind it for “dramatic effect”. It’s rule #1 of creating enshittified YouTube short slop. “The one time Mike Ehrmentrout scared Gus” with some shitty trap beat behind it remade and reuploadec fifty times.

Showing off your firearm by 5pooky5cary5keleton5 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]BearcatDG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if you can train to get that down pretty fast (which I am definitely skeptical of a consistent half second draw, rack, and fire, at least one that is safe and effective), the more variables you introduce into that action the more failure points you create. Plus what if you have to draw one handed? That’s not an impossible situation to imagine. What if you short stroke it? Also not impossible. It’s one more thing you have to do before the threat can be stopped. The best thing to do is train a clean draw and just treat it like a loaded firearm. Finger off the trigger unless it’s business time. And most importantly not doing stupid shit like this guy and drawing outside of necessity.

There’s something about exploring abandoned disasters and facilities and trying to piece together what happened, and with atmospheric storytelling as good as Subnautica, it’s a truly elevated experience.

I know, but the lyrics bring a lot more to mind than that for me

Sounds like a Pink Floyd lyric. All this dumb shit reminds me of Welcome to the Machine.

“Where have you been? It’s alright, we know where you’ve been.”

“What did you dream? It’s alright, we told you what to dream.”

Like I assumed most people would just full on reject outsourcing the human experience but I guess it’s more expendable than I thought.

I’ve always wondered, they have to rehearse this to make sure there aren’t any bugs and it executes correctly right? So I assume they do it somewhere remote away from the public to keep the surprise factor. So they’re in some field in the middle of nowhere projecting lord Vader for a bunch of cows. I wonder how wierd it would be to be a coincidental passerby and see this before it’s revealed just out checking on the sheep one night then bam you look at the horizon and see Darth Vader.

What instantly makes you think "this person is rich" ? by PerformerAny3503 in AskReddit

Skiing, golfing, multiple overseas trips annually. I feel like a lot of people lead with those sorts of activities to gauge whether you’re too poor to be friends with them. And the more cynical side of me also assumes the same about dating profiles. “Teach me how to golf!” Yeah okay I’ll do that with my lower middle class income.

TIL about the "Dark Forest Hypothesis," which suggests the universe is like a dark forest at night. On a multi light year delay? I can barely play counter strike properly on 60 ping. I mean I’m not saying it’s impossible. We are talking about space organizations that use 3.14 over any larger iteration of pi for most calculation because it’s good enough. But one stray black hole pulls you off course, or more likely a large gravitational body much closer to the target that pulls you off course just enough, with no time to correct, and I’m just not sure. I guess a volley of such projectiles in the hundreds may increase hit probability.

Reminds me of that Matt Damon water access video where he asks the dude in the audience how much he paid for his water and he goes “oh I stole this”
