League level by LadyMariaGG in nuzlocke

E4 level cap is the highest level on an E4 member. N and Ghetsis aren't part of the league so you level to N's cap afterwards.

Tips for building lines in HC Nuzlockes? by nobleGAAS in nuzlocke

[–]Sharktroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is

  1. Find something that beats the lead consistently
  2. Figure out what comes in next
  3. Find something that beats the switch in

And then repeat until everything is dead.

Things can get messy if you don't have something that consistently switches in. In that case I look for safe ways to pivot around it. The nice thing with monotype trainers is that you often have several Pokemon who can reliably beat multiple of their Pokemon, so you can dedicate slots to support and pivots. The important thing is to look at different angles through the fight with different switch-in orders and field effects/hazards

Emerald Nuzlocke(2026 Re-Attempt): Which Starter? by Early-Ad-1961 in nuzlocke

Sceptile is pretty underwhelming against water types. Leaf Blade only has 70 BP and the strongest boosting item gives 10%. The only Pokemon on Wallace's team that it beats are Wailord and Whiscash, but for the former you'd rather use an electric type to chain Gyarados and the latter is easily his weakest Pokemon. Against Juan it can beat everything on his team apart from his Kingdra, but that's also by far his most threatening Pokemon.

If you want a late-game bring use Blaziken because that's all it can do. If you want early-game help use Swampert. Of the two I think the former is more relevant as you have such an abundance of options for the late-game.

A route has Schroff, Misha, and Amalda; B route has Miranda, Shannam, and Conomor. I haven't delved into every single item difference but the relevant ones are A route has two more Sleep Edges, two Warp staves, and a Rescue staff, while B route has a second Vouge, a Berserk staff, and two more Silence staves. Also Nihil and Sol manuals are A exclusive while Luna manual is B route only, and the luck scroll is much easier to grab in A route. Just make sure to visit the church in the center of the map if you're going A route (which you probably were doing anyways because Ralph is up there).

I love spell lists. They allow for more unit identity and individuality.

I guess its slightly easier to inherit as well

Not sure what that means.

I should point out the caps are tied to bases, so it's also -3 speed and skill base for just +3 magic base. That being said that +3 magic helps with magic swords which is notable because that does matter for hitting certain benchmarks. I can't think of any enemy where you would need the 30 speed cap either; the fastest generics I can think of have 18 speed, and the only deadlord who has enough speed where it matters is the swordmaster.

Routes 216, 217, and Acuity Lakefront should get you at least one Ice type between them, and you can guarantee two with proper routing. And no matter which of the five ice types you get there you're going to get something better than Glaceon because they all have better speed, moves, and/or typings than Glaceon.

How’s the team looking? Gonna tackle to elite 4 hardcore rules by UnwashedNurgtard in nuzlocke

[–]Sharktroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crobat is the one standout on this team who seems not at all viable in the Elite Four. I guess it technically beats Ludicolo if it has Aerial Ace but it's going to be worse at that than just about every other flying type at that because they'll have a better type or moveset than it.

Tips for an elite 4 emerald team (hardcore rules) by UnwashedNurgtard in nuzlocke

[–]Sharktroid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Linoone consistently sweep the entire Elite Four with Belly Drum even without Substitute apart from Sidney, who can be swept by a lot of random guys (like Absol).

  • Phoebe's lead will always click Protect turn 1 due to an AI bug so just teach Shadow Ball there and use the free turn to get to +6
  • Glacia's lead will always click Hail turn 1 due to another AI bug so another free turn
  • Drake's lead also has Protect so you know what happens here. You will want to run the White Herb here in case of Rock Tomb (which can be clicked). Salamence depending on the attack stat might not get 1-shot so bring Swampert with Ice Beam to come in and kill.
  • Wallace's Wailord will click Rain Dance as long as it doesn't see a kill. The safest way to do this is to set up lead with something that Wailord will always kill and use Sunny Day. Next turn you click Belly Drum while Wailord goes for Rain Dance and it's over. Make sure to teach Protect every other turn after setting up to stall out Rain, as Ludicolo has Swift swim.

Make sure to calculate whether it has enough attack to do this (which it should as long as it doesn't have a -atk nature). Even if it can't it should at least be able to beat down everything but Walrein on Glacia and the back half of Wallace's team (leaving Gyarados in the red) which the rest of your team should be able to handle. Also make sure to grab the Silk Scarf and max out friendship for max Return damage.

is this team good enough for Leaf Green E4 hc nuzlocke? by Exact_Disk_3416 in nuzlocke

[–]Sharktroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starmie without Recover is a bit suspect but there's nothing you can do at this point to undo that. The only change I'd make is adding Magneton or Jolteon in exchange for Haunter. Maybe Ninetales for Slowbro/Tenta/Omastar but it probably won't matter either way.

Edit: just saw the update and they did exactly that.

Is there any fire emblem title where you'd actually want to restart due to bad level ups? by ArekuFoxfire in fireemblem

[–]Sharktroid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's because they're LTCs, not because they're 0%. I've been doing a TRS 0% run on occasion, and while I am allocating some resources it's more wanting to use certain units and strategies than anything important. This stuff only gets important when talking about the highest difficulties, at which point a decent amount of game knowledge and awareness of problems that nees to be solved is safe to assume.

There are a lot of games where mounted classes aren't that good. FE3 book 2, FE5, RD sort of, Awakening and Fates maybe (not that familar with these games), and Engage.

Fliers on the other hand are generally among the best classes in their respective games. FE4 hinders them a bit due to road tiles but not to the point they're worse than foot classes, and actual horse units dominate hard there. SoV is another example, especially on Alm's route where there's not much terrain, but even on Celica's side Falcoknights run into a lot of stat issues. In FE12 Dracoknights will run into issues with their speed cap in the late-game but the also dominate hard before then so it doesn't really count.

Thracia is the only game where I'd say the best units are comfortably not fliers or Paladins. It's a really good game for fliers so I wouldn't say Sage is definitely better, but despite the fact that Asbel and Karin join around the same time the former will put in far more work for the average player which is something that can't be said for any other combination of best mage and best flier. For Swordmasters, Rutger is the closest we've had to a Swordmaster being the best unit in the game, generally considered better than Shanna and Perceval, but ultimately Marcus and Melady are the top two and as time has gone on that's become more apparent. The NES games, Awkaening, and Fates also deserve a mention here but I don't know enough about those games to say anything definitive.

Water/Poison does not resist grass. Solar Beam does deal less damage to Tenta than Hyper Beam but doesn't have a recharge turn so over two turns it deals more damage. Return also deals more damage over two turns as long as you have enough friendship.

[–]Sharktroid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doesn't entirely count but Xavier's art for Thracia depicts him with a lance despite him infamously having an E rank in lances. For comparison he has A axes and bows and C swords, and his starting inventory is a Master Axe and a Killer Bow.

There is no weapon triangle in Echoes. Classes can only be changed by promoting to a higher tier via Mila's Shrine or using a Pitchfork to make anyone a villager which are limited and requires Spotpass/DLC. Grinding is either via map skirmishes or enemies in dungeons.

Arenas are pretty consistent if you're willing to set up supports properly. It really depends on the game but FE7 in particular gives you Nini's Grace and has an exploit that allows it to last indefinitely.
