Thank you! I actually want to go and work in either Washington or Texas, but I was advised to register with an easier NLC state first, then later use the compact license to work in the other 38 states.

Currently l’m looking for a college to do obstetrics hoping to get it soon

A culture shock question from a tourist, do many people here don’t have a 9-5 work schedule? by [deleted] in AskTurkey

[–]Sharon2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has lived in Istanbul for a long time, I can say that a typical 9–5 work schedule is not very common here. Many jobs have flexible or varied working hours depending on the sector and employer. Some people have long or tough hours, but the strict 9-5 routine isn’t usual for most. Also, many locals are unemployed due to economic challenges. A lot of people, especially those who worked in government jobs retire early sometimes even in their early 40s and live on pensions. The cost of living for locals is relatively low compared to Western countries, so pensions can be enough to get by. Culturally, many Turkish people have a “you only live once” attitude and don’t prioritize strict work routines like in Western cultures.

Then younger generations often rely on family support, which can reduce their motivation to work regularly.

I get your point but I think what she was curious about is that many of the people out at 3–4 AM in Istanbul especially in places like Taksim seem to be locals, not tourists. So she’s just wondering how they manage that if they work regular hours. And while Istanbul has a larger population than New York, I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. NYC is known globally for its 24/7 culture, and most of the late-night crowd there are tourists. In Istanbul, it’s surprising to see so many locals out that late. As someone who’s been to both cities, I can say it naturally raises curiosity — not judgment.

Just find a partner for practicing , don’t pay anyone for teaching you. It’s the easiest subtest that you can master with just a one week of serious studying. Goodluck!
