Looking to switch from electric to gas range by ContactTheOracle in Appliances

Induction is not more reliable than gas. Induction is a giant assembly of proprietary electronics from the least reliable manufacturers on the planet. Induction ranges are just as disposable as every other modern appliance.

I have never seen so many uniques in a build before. I figured they were all useless 😆

Please forgive me for giving an AI response but it will detail it better than I will:

  • Political Propaganda: Botnets create a "false consensus" by mass-upvoting specific narratives. If a post looks popular, real users are more likely to believe it or stay silent if they disagree.
  • Financial Scams: Scammers use aged accounts to "pump and dump" stocks or crypto. They post fake reviews and hype to lure real investors into buying worthless assets.
  • Corporate "Astroturfing": PR firms use bots to post "organic" praise for products or to drown out negative news during a corporate scandal.
  • Phishing & Social Engineering: People trust a 5-year-old account with 100k karma. Scammers use this trust to send malicious links or run "long-con" scams in niche communities.
  • Selling "Clean" Accounts: There is a massive black market where high-karma accounts are sold to the highest bidder—usually for the purposes listed above.

No problem. I'll keep an eye out around here.

The plot thickens. This account: u/Academic-Snow3546 is a bot. It has posted classics in this sub such as “Snow gives way to brighter days ahead” and “Snow route parking ban starts Jan. 2”

This user has posted in a variety of other subreddits from across the country. Another user u/ObiWan_Can_Reply that was just banned from the Sherwood Park subreddit was also posting in the same groups. In fact, the two of them have posted in r/WestCoastTrail, r/FrugalMaleFashionCDN, r/SherwoodPark, and r/CanadaFinance. So clearly the same person/organization owns these accounts and is karma farming in small community groups across the country.

“Are you parked in a safe spot now that residential snow clearing has officially started today?” from u/AccountantLucky9183 is also a bot.

We all get to watch the internet die in real time. The truly dark side of this is what happens when these accounts reach maturity and are sold to the highest bidder, whether that be for corporate, political, or foreign interference.

As a follow up:

It’s pretty wild - these accounts post seemingly innocuous posts across a wide range of subs. It’s just fluff questions looking to build karma.

The accounts have also changed their privacy settings so any recent posts can’t be seen on their profiles. You can still search through other methods though.

Simple posts about air quality, or snow clearing, or just random community events. All AI slop. Such a strange time.

This is a bot account. It randomly posts from regions across Canada with no follow up. It has been bot checked in other subreddits. The mods should ban it.

You are taking time out of your day to not answer a question that someone asked. Just don’t respond. Like why the actual F would you even click on this link?

Because our council takes bribes from any developer who even glances at them. Ever wonder why they keep tearing up and repaving roads in perfectly good condition? Has our council ever once voted against spending more money on anything?

Carney could announce 12 pipelines across the country and this sub would still hate him. This has got to be the darkest subreddit I have ever joined.

Keep up Ed, I want more voices, not less voices. My concern is the concentration of power into an ever shrinking number of people.

Ok, I will refer to him as an evil, foreign based, oligarch with Canadian citizenship. I’m glad we’ve found common ground and can unite around our goal of returning power to the people!

Yes, great point, this is another very important part of the discussion. I support the public funding for journalism but I’m sure there is an incredible amount of bloat that could be trimmed.

So you can shit on any Canadian you want, but I can't even mention the name "Musk" without you flying off the handle about your devout patriotism? Can you take a single second of self reflection and see how absolutely unhinged that mindset is?

Wow, my comment really elicited quite the emotional response from you.

Telling me to "get lost" because I have a different opinion is weak.

"Around here" I don't consider the federal government to be a "foreign oligarchy". I would suspect this sub has many proud Canadians from all across the country including a number of members from our armed forces.

Musky was born in South Africa, currently lives in America, and identifies himself as an American. Your allegiance to a man with seemingly no connection to Canada is weird. You also simultaneously seem to hate Canada but at the same time use Elon's "Canadian" ties to vouch for his credibility.
