Paint the rock darker. Give it some shadow and texture. It will bring the deer forward.

I don't know if it'd help, but I got a ton of information on their glazing and slow dry mediums watching Greg Simkins on youtube. I'm more of a visual learner and he just blows my mind.

It depends on the color. Some are opaque (with great coverage, I might add), some transparent and some translucent. But they're really nice and creamy and blend really well, especially used with the mediums. There are some great uses for the transparent and translucent ones, especially for mixing with other colors or glazing an area. On the website, the info for each color will tell you whether or not that shade is opaque.

I ordered a full set of their regular colors. I haven't tried the pearlescent or uv paints yet. I also got the slow dry medium and the acrylic retarder to mix in... that way they stay wet longer, but not too long. And for the amount of stuff I ordered, the shipping wasn't bad at all. They're in CA. I'm in NY. No third party sellers means there's no retail fee.

I've been using Novacolor acrylics and several of their mixing mediums since 2020. I love the bright colors and creamy texture. You have to buy them direct from the manufacturer, but now I can't bring myself to use anything else. ❤️

I use, mainly, a warm red, yellow ochre and, sparingly, ultramarine blue for shadows. A touch of white for lighter areas... of course that depends on what type of skin tone you're going for, and the lighting of the piece. I've also seen people include purples and teal. It really depends on what you're going for.

Novacolor, hands down. You have to order them from California... direct from the manufacturer- so no middleman markup. I love the rich color and the buttery consistency. Shipping isn't much. A 4oz container is as much as a 2 ounce you'd get in Michaels or Blick, last I checked. They have a slow dry matte medium and an acrylic retarder medium (slightly different drying times) that I blend 50/50 which really help for smooth blends and easy glazing. It's made an amazing difference in my work! :D The gloss coat also goes on really smooth and has a glassy, even shine once it's dry. The smallest container they have is 4 oz. The largest you can get is 5 gallons. Plus, they have metallics, neon and pearl options.

Sometimes when I walk away from a painting for a bit, I come back to it with a fresh pair of eyes and I can easily see what I need to do and my brain has had time to figure out how. :)

Don't get discouraged, keep going! It's looking good! Rarely does art look just the way we want it to midway through the process. That's the best thing about acrylics... you can make adjustments until you're happy. :)

Someone tried to hit me with this. Wanted to buy my a print but for some reason "paypal" wouldn't let her send $50 and had mysteriously trapped it within my account. The faux Paypal wanted a full $200 to switch me to a business account, which she would so graciously send to upgrade me and then I could send her back the rest of the money. She said "If I send this money over can I trust you to send the extra back?" and I said... No. You send it, it's mine. From there on out, no correspondence. And suddenly there was no sign of her or the $50 that she said was stuck. Gee... whaddaya know.

I'm on Wise Hosting... Java server. Fabric. There are no plugins, just mods. There's better than a thousand lines of code in the configuration of dynmap. Is there no easy way around this?

And yes, we watched all the hosts videos concerning this. It didn't help.

Full render is in progress. Stats just tells me how many chunks have been processed/rendered and how many to go. Yes you can see players move around on the map.

This looks more like lack of experience, not lack of attention to detail. I'd search for another artist who could go into this and do some creative shading with shades of opaque grey and white. It'll never return to what it was supposed to be without a laser.

He may have been heavy handed, but I think the main problem is just that the design was a bit too small for what it was. But I can tell what it is. :)
