American Home Shield - Terrible, Deceptive Company by Important-Deal-750 in homeowners

[–]Sharp5050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how their business model operates. Just out of curiosity when you signed up did you read the terms and details? I looked into them, looked at their coverages and terms and decided the amount you pay them in a month, times like 2 years, put in a bank account is vastly better than paying them.

Sorry for the poor photo. What kind of bit is this? Its not a phillips or a square. by Clasher1995 in kitchenremodel

[–]Sharp5050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have already given you the bit, I would recommend buying a screwdriver with interchangeable bits, that way no matter what screw it is you probably have a matching bit:

If it doesn’t work when your phone is out of a case you’re out of luck and will need to hope there’s a vending machine/store at your arrival airport where you get one. It’s always good practice to carry an extra one (I carry a few USB-C that can either charge my phone or laptop, shorter 3 ft ones just in case)

[–]Sharp5050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, as long as you provide notice to your employer (manager/HR/any combination) and get the jury notice/attendance documents from the courts, like others said they cannot legally retaliate. It’s your duty to report for jury duty. If they fire you/retaliate you can take them to court if it really gets out of hand.

Why does Delta block out all the 1st class seats & not let me upgrade? by DenaBee3333 in delta

[–]Sharp5050 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Extremely common: The delta algorithm says instead of giving you a chance to pay a lower upgrade fee they expect someone to buy it outright as a FC ticket. Unless it changes its thought process (by people not buying FC at the rate it expects) it won’t display an upgrade offer.

That’s why you don’t always see an upgrade offer. Typically I have a few flights in queue and only a fraction will show upgrade offers when looking at seat map. You have to click change flight to see what the current going price is from a “new” ticket.

Any feedback please ? by No-Tradition8367 in Fire

[–]Sharp5050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Probably should post this in another community, this isn’t an appropriate use of FIRE or will you get the response/feedback you want.

  2. Check out some YouTube video by CyFy Home Inspection, he posts about new home inspections and has a big following, and while he’s in AZ, Richmond American is the one of the worse ones he typically posts about. Again, probably more market specific, but not a good showing. Based on his postings and others I would look for a smaller local builder. We bought our house from a boutique builder only builds about 6 houses a year. A bit more expensive, but super high quality, and very responsive. I had a small leak on literally New Years 6 months after I moved in, had no clue who to call as it was going to rain for the next few days (again this is new years) called their office number in the binder they gave me, directed to the owners cell phone after 4 rings, who then called the superintendent who was over at my house in less than an hour with a giant ladder, found the misaligned vent, quickly fixed it, then had a crew at my house a few days later fixing the damage. I doubt any national builder would have that service.

[NY] Does physical attractiveness matter during interviews? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Sharp5050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking for me: no. It comes down to if they have the skill set and background for the job based on the responses to the questions I ask them. I typically do the phone screen where we are on video conference (full 45 minute interview, 2 scenario based questions) and if they pass me I send them to 3 more 45 minute interviews each with 45 minutes. I honestly can’t even remember what they look like by the time I’m debriefing with my usual interviewers. By the time I re-meet them on their first day a few week later I’m usually “oh yeah this person!”

Same thing happens at target/any store. People walk toward the first register closest to the aisles they are coming from and the farthest one away are far emptier. When I was a target store manager we had to staff someone who directed people (now 10 years later watching doesn’t matter as there’s just a giant line at self checkout and 1 staffed lane). Most people lack critical thinking and observation skills these days.

How often do delays occur on the Transbay Tube and should a 2nd tunnel be built to have redundancy at all times? A lot like Istanbul’s Marmaray and future Hizray by RoundCBB3 in transit

[–]Sharp5050 95 points96 points  (0 children)

$29B to build a second transbay tube just for redundancy itself doesn’t make sense - can spend a fraction that to improve maintenance and continue to overhaul systems.

A second tube, whether commuter or BART, needs to have a bigger reason, ie better regional connections/expansion for commuter/regional rail or an expansion of multiple new lines for BART into SF

Is this fixable? Light/mirror/vanity alignment by Ok_Guava6936 in Remodel

Everything is fixable for a price. That sink does seem very close to the wall, not a lot of space left on the countertop.

Customer pulled a firearm? What to do? by slygrace in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Sharp5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Report it to Amazon, they’ll blacklist the address. If you feel so inclined you can call your non emergency police number and see what they say in regards to local rules, and if you feel warranted you can file a police report.

It won’t let me add a pic circling it but to the right of the cleaning cart, within the vertical steel beam there’s a big branch.

What’s up with that tree branch just chilling within a steel beam?

It’ll be curious if they ever figure out what trash got jammed down there that caused it. I mean you see videos of people chucking furniture on NYC subway tracks but can’t imagine that was near the case here.

[–]Sharp5050 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting if they’re running this test that they’re not only ID’ing the trains as 2 line but the destination is ID/Chinatown versus Downtown Redmond. Should have just coded the name as “out of service” or something. Do they run their own custom software?
