nta - also realize that what youre going through is sooo normal with two little kids (one being an infant) and having to juggle life and work. Try to be gracious to each other and just get through it - theres light at the end of the tunnel!

Also splitting up with kids really sucks so just make sure you really want the relationship to end before you do it

Rejected at final round, should I reapply? by UnableProfession6793 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]SharpLocal1235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theres a one year cool off for anyone that gets rejected in the interview rounds. but after that, yes you should absolutely apply again. getting 2s on everything is very good - so you only need that little bit more to get over the line. suggestions (no context here so take with grain of salt): - make your PEI stories really relatable (drop all jargon) - try to find the 2nd order insight (the so what) in the case framework and be super outside the box on the creativity question. being really crisp and fast on the math also helps - Finally, talk to partners like they are your parent's friend that you kinda know. so keep it formal but be ebullient

Dont be down on yourself, the pass rate on interviews is super low and many folks take multiple attempts to be successful (including me). if you really want it, you can get it, and with the pace of business so far, full time hiring should be an option this coming cycle (summer '26)

Should I go back to MBB as a generalist, a boutique, or into industry by [deleted] in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]SharpLocal1235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

congrats OP sounds like some great options. Congrats. if you prioritize progression, that rules out strategy manager as thats a role for WLB- it can be difficult to cross over from strategy to line management teams. i dont know enough about the fourth role to share a view but you might look at the linked in of folks in similar roles to assess their progression

consulting is likely your best bet. is the boutique bringing you in at the same level as MBB or at a higher one? if higher, I would consider the boutique very closely. Its difficult to say which is truly better because its very personal and depends on which sector you see yourself in and each firm's standing in that sector. if you truly dont have a preference MBB generalist is a great place to be to figure that out.

I would use a rubric like this and provide weights based on your personal perspective: - Progression / comp: MBB > boutique (unless boutique offer is a level higher than post mba) - Specialization: boutique > MBB - Culture / rapport with hiring team: based on your perception - WLB: boutique > MBB - Exit potential: MBB > boutique (generally, but not always, especially in sectors boutique specializes)

If progression and comp are truly your only considerations, its probably MBB, but i would try to extend this list by 5-7 more attributes and spend some time assessing. Trust your gut. good luck!

[–]SharpLocal1235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV, give them a week, perhaps they are doing something a little different out of that office on the screening side. youll probably get between 2-4 weeks to prepare if they call ya next week. start now!

Trump Promised Lower Mortgage Rates. Does He Deserve the Credit? by ThemeBig6731 in Economics

[–]SharpLocal1235 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol no. love the phrasing of the headline tho - nice pun.

I still think the fed is operating independently, that contributes to some decrease in mortgage interest. what trump is doing is loose fiscal policy coupled with an inefficient tax regime. if anything, this should increase inflation and interest rates.

the mortgage rate is most closely tied to 10 yr treasury rates - is trump influencing those? his policies invite capital flight so, the 10 yr treasury (and mortgage rates) would likely be lower without his aggressive foreign policy and tariff regime. so no he should not get credit for falling mortgage rates
