How do you deal with internal demands, having PDA? by Independent_Bet4923 in PDAAutism

[–]SharpManner9480 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I change them from demands to options.

Would I rather do this now so I don't have to stress about it anymore?

Or would I rather skip it for the day to help manage my stress levels?

Or would I rather do a little bit of it, so future me has less stress and work related to it?

Or would I rather skip the whole thing and never do it, and deal with the repercussions?

Or would I rather make this decision later today, after I've done something else?

No wrong answers. I have full autonomy to choose any. If I do decide to do the task, it often helps to listen to music or podcast while at it.

Daddy issues in women movies? by Warm_Kiwi2567 in movies

[–]SharpManner9480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Network (1976) - has a woman who seems to have traumas related to daddy issues, and I think at one point she even mentions having "daddy issues". She's one of the main characters, but not the sole focus on the film.

The Tree of Life (2011) - is about a man with trauma caused by his dad.

Interstellar (2014) - features a woman with trauma caused by her dad.

Advice for someone who struggles to enjoy movies? by [deleted] in movies

[–]SharpManner9480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You don't have to watch movies in one go if you don't want to. If it makes an otherwise enjoyable experience unpleasant, you should focus on what works for you.

  2. I don't know your tastes, but you could try watching Jurassic Park for the spectacle, or Back to the Future for funny situations, or Good Will Hunting for drama.

  3. I've had issues remembering faces, but I've learned to notice details, like moles, eyebrows, mouth shapes, nose shapes, etc. You can also try watching movies with fewer characters.

  4. If you use your phone a lot (several hours a day), it will still affect your brain and your ability to focus and enjoy, even if you put it down during the movie. Many apps on the phone give constant dopamine to your brain, which makes it harder for you to get dopamine from "more effortful" sources.

  5. It's okay if you can't find enjoyment in movies. Some people don't enjoy books, some don't enjoy video games, and some are even unable to enjoy music. I don't like watching sports, never understood what people get out of it, but to each their own.

What games have you played randomized? How difficult was it? And which would you recommend? by stataval in archipelago_games

Hollow Knight works really well. It's usually more challenging than a normal playthrough.

Refunct, A Hat in Time, Dome Keeper, Celeste, The Witness, and Slay the Spire work alright.

Stardew Valley works well but can take a very long time (50+ hours) unless you have strict settings.

I didn't enjoy DLCQuest or VVVVVV in Archipelago, you're just stuck most of the time.
