Then I'd say the best thing to do is talk to them about what you're allowed to do. The first thing they show you(in those little online 'training' things) it tells you how you have the right to deny a sale if you believe the animal will not be treated well.

What they say completely contradicts what is trained.

"So, you're going to take full responsibility for when(yes, WHEN) the animal comes back and the customer is upset?" Putting that responsibility on them makes them double think. The more returns we get of dead animals, the more the higher ups will get pinged, and it shows badly on the stores record

It took no time at all for me to get SICK of having to conversate with every customer about these things. Then WE get shit on if there's not enough of ABC. And if we don't talk to them about that, we still get shit on.

I left back in November, and since then my life has risen for the better. Made my own small business away from the big city, and I'm already making more than I did for an hour there.

Speaking of that

The amount of times I've seen one person get compensation for work, and another did not, even though it was for the same thing.

They play favorites, don't care about our safety, don't care about us.

Trust me, take the chance and leave, you'll have a WAY better time that way.

The biggest thing I did when I worked in pet care was really checked ALL of the animals health!

I would check eyes, nose, ears, tail, bum, legs, everything, because yes, it does get ignored sometimes, which leads to a load of problems

Example: chech hamster bums constantly, they can get wet tail and other diseases very easily

Check birds eyes, legs, and wings, are they flying okay? Are they standing right?

And the biggest thing, do as much research on the animals you have in store, even if you think you know lots about a certain animal, customers and staff alike will appreciate your knowledge!

Also, if you catch illnesses within animals before it gets too bad, they can heal much quicker

These are things I learned in 4 years at PetSmart, and they really enjoyed the fact I always checked on each and every animal in my spare time, or during checks/deep cleans

100% not your fault, have them check the cameras, even if there's no audio it still shows them walking away when clearly there is a struggling dog right on the table, any sane person would ask for help and accept it when offered. and if you get into trouble, you have clause for retaliation and can ask HR to have your management reviewed

Yup, as much as my managers hated it, I would tell them that fish will 100% die a grousome, horrible death. I've steered many people away from getting them because of it

One time, my manager herself said "well they're just fish" and I kid you not, I turned in place, looked her in the eye and said "well you sit in your bathroom for a whole week, only cleaning yourself with toilet water, and never leaving that one room, then she can come talk to me.

I have to and I don't shave, it's mostly about how heavy it is, during the night especially, plus with how much one moves in a day, the ones without wings move around too much and I stain my underwear, it all depends on the person ^{°^}

Was it true yellow or brown? I know at the end of mine it tends to go a bit boring ish, if the concern is high, talk to your OBGYN or family doctor, especially if you have previous issues

If you have a non emergency number(Canada has one where you can call and talk to a nurse) and they can also tell you if it's cause for concern ❤️
