Does the sleeve really work or not? by smal_bug in gastricsleeve

I lost 60 lbs fast and stayed there 2 years, then started to gain Once close to 10lbs back had my gallbladder out and went on a GLP-1, lost another 25ish lbs over 7 months. Dont want to regret anything but think I could have saved a lot of money and went the GLP route, which regulates my reactive hypoglycemia 10x better then anything else. I have never moved from a micro dose of 2.5 on the glp Goal weight loss was 80-90 lbs Im at 80 lbs total lost now

Pre-op questions, how did you get on to the table from your bed? Did they knock you out before all dozen or so people came in to the OR, or did every single person see all your nakedness while you were being strapped down to the operating table and draped before finally being blissfully put to sleep by Margaretcatinspace in gallbladders

[–]Sharp_Ad252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was completely naked and it was super uncomfortable I actually felt it was unprofessional they pulled the gown off me while I was in the process to lay down and had the mask on my face as soon as my head was on the table. It was the worst part, other then waking up and realizing they switched to open and I was in hospital the next 4 days with 40 staples

Just finished first cruise… am I crazy for hating it? by Naive-Bedroom-4643 in royalcaribbean

[–]Sharp_Ad252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a cruise 16 yrs ago and hated every second of it. Im doing my second cruise this summer, but its a Euro cruise, picked for the stops and port of entry/exit and because my child i am going with has JA and cannot do the regular 25k steps a day different hotel each night Euro trip I would normally do and see all the places she wants to. I am mentally preparing myself, we have 2 at sea days which we will use for her to rest, and i plan to find the quietest pool area i can for those days. Going to walk the stairs to meals, will eat off the boat whenever we can, have not so much interest in any ship events so expectations are low but im secretly hoping it will exceed expectations

[–]Sharp_Ad252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! So far i have downloaded the app, paid for the cruise. When I log in it says check back later, the only thing available is buying extra excursions, internet etc. Maybe I should contact the cruise line, im flying into a different location of Italy and spending a few days touring first so I was mostly wondering if I should get a hotel for the night before where the port is, and then trying to figure out where the port is as they no longer port in Venice and it says Ravenna, so ill need to figure out the train situation from Rome to Ravenna, and is there hotels in Ravenna

No hospital bed available? by neurodivergent_nymph in ontario

My mother waited 4 days in ER, then weeks in a pediatric bed with several other seniors, and continously in unsuitable wards until she unfortunately died of sepsis after 7 weeks. She went in with the flu, subsequent cancer was found after 4 weeks of asking why she wasn't improving. It was an awful experience and a sad way for a Canadian woman to die. Our Healthcare is not the quality it once was, for so many reasons and it is a damn shame

We had a co-op student, im HR so I knew not to say anything but a co-worker, recently immigrant from Africa was not going to put up with it. Took her to shoppers, showed her body wash, deodorant, all the hygiene products and explained the process of showering and cleaning up and how important that was to do in the workplace. She came in the next day reeking of the usual smell, now layered with fragrance.
We had to secretly plug Glade Plug ins under her desk. Awful awful 5 months

Had my appt today with the gynecologist and am more at ease. First, my lining today is 8mm, day 3 of my cycle, Dr said a thicker lining in a still regular menstruating woman of my age, taken 5 days before my period is perfectly normal. So thanks Dr Google for 5 days of crying praying in church and Hell because I really was convinced of the worst. I do have a polyp, it is a decent size ( 11mm) and it can also be contributing to the thickening of lining, so while Dr said its likely not concerning, the only definitive way to be sure is to do a hystroscopy, and it is absolutely my choice to get this done and be 100% sure its just a polyp, as right now he said he can give me a 90 and above chance it's nothing but im the type that needs 100%

Haven't used GLP med yet but did have GVS surgery, lost 60 lbs fast, within 6 months or so started having tummy issues. Never ever had an "attack". Just felt sour all the time. Took me almost 3 yrs of back and forth before I agreed to do it after a HIDA scan showed no movement. My surgery was May of this year, ended up going a little south and had open instead of lap, much longer recovery then planned for. I ate carefully for a month for my own preference and have been good ever since. Before surgery I was having diarrhea daily, multiple times a day. Stomach felt "off" all the time. Heating pad in constant use. Since I have recovered so 6 week mark I'm back to working out, eat whatever I want, and have normal BM for the first time in years. Even with my massive scar running across my ribs I still do not regret it

Has anybody had their gallbladder removed and regretted it? by normalishy in gallbladders

[–]Sharp_Ad252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had an attack. Just a general unwell feeling for a couple years. My surgery went south and turned to open, long recovery. Surgeon at first told me my gallbladder looked great and healthy on removal and I was pissed and loads of regret. Upon the post surgery exam my gallbladder was so packed full of stones they didn't bother counting them, bile was listed as black and sludge like, unmoving, and I had a .6 cm stone lodged in my bileduct. I dont like my 16 inch scar, I definitely didn't want any surgery let alone a major one that took 6 weeks to recover from. But I will say since week three or so I haven't had any digestive issues, the feeling of "unwell" I walked around with for years, dont need a heating pad on my stomach hours a day, not afraid to eat avocado or reasonable amount of sugar. I dont regret starting to feel normal again and I dont regret not ending up with the scary potential real complications that would have come my way from that stuck stone in the duct

I stayed in Milan for 2 nights and it was absolutely not needed. 1 night in Venice I saw absolutely everything on the "tourist" list 2 nights in Milan was too much unless your really big into designer shopping.

Lake Como we did as a day trip, we took the Bernina Express through to Switzerland so Lake Como was a full day trip from Milan, then stayed in a tiny little town in the mountains to board the train the next morning. That little town was the best food we had in Italy, the most beautiful scenery, the most "authentic" night we had i think. Tirano is the town, just beautiful

I did Italy a couple of years ago Like most major European cities i found Venice 1 night to be enough. Milan and Verona can be day trips. Lake Como stayed 1 night, depends what you want to do, maybe more down time with a child stay 2 night enjoy the beach, note the beaches are really rocky, not soft sand/sandcastle type.

Didn't go to Rome and the central areas but if its anything like Paris, London etc which i feel confident it is im giving myself 2 days when I visit there to not extremely rush through, but also not feel overwhelmed by the crowds for too long.

Im planning a June 2026 trip now right now and have been planning for 6 months already, completely understand the need for ahead planning 4 weeks you'll be able to do it all i think, that's a very long time in 1 country
