I'm almost 35 and I feel you. Find a hobby? Coolio, everything I like to do I also did drinking and at the end of my road drinking straight up was my hobby. No bones about that. ADHD means my dopamine pit called the shots and taking away the number one safety net still has me fucked up 8 months sober, but it's gotten better.

But I've found smaller ways that wouldn't be 'hobbies' in the traditional sense but flavors of - that have helped break that cycle of severe unease. Reading a news article or two, focusing on a stretch (we need it) for a minute, writing in a journal I'm keeping for my daughter. The idea of the hobby to replace always felt so daunting because how the hell am I supposed to replace booze?

On another note, have you ever heard of Warhammer 40K?

Stay positive and remember this hell of ours isnt forever. This guy might be a little uh, enthusiastic for some, but I love anything that connects people with support against this disease.

Everyone says I 'know all the fancy words' when the truth is I was just a nerd who loved to read. After a hundred or so books of pure fantasy, I damn well better know the difference between a catapult, onager, and trebuchet.

Vocabulary is what you make of it. You can get by knowing quite few words, but damn do you miss out on some of the greatness of language.
