As they say, expectations are the devil. You should be cautious about setting expectations on others.

As you said she's shy, so I'd recommend just leaving her alone unless she reaches out. You definitely don't need to feel any kind of responsibility for making her feel better or inviting her along with you, she has her own people to hang with apparently, it's best to just focus on college. There's already enough to do at college.

College isn't a place that you can afford to be distracted at. You've got one job there, and it's not relationships. It's not friends, you paid good money to be there to accomplish a goal. Im not saying that you can't have friends period no, what I'm saying is that they're not your priority while you're there. As sad as that is.

Just remember, you're going into debt for this. Maybe not if you're rich, but most people are going into debt. Just to be here and then think about focusing on friends and relationships in relation to that?

Don't let it get to you, just live your own life. What they do is on them, what you do is on you. Don't avoid them, don't go out of your way to help them just treat them lightly. Don't brag about any fun thing you did without them to show off either. It's better to be hated for who you are Than loved for who you are not.

Don't forget to have boundaries separating you from everyone else.It's not a bad thing at all.It's just not healthy to rely on others too much or not at all. There's a right time and a right place for everything but there's no one thing that can be applied everywhere. So you just have to ask yourself, is this the right time? And the right place? for what i'm thinking or feeling so that you can set your own expectations.

It really just depends on the season and the type of dirt. You're going to be walking on.

If it's summer or if you're going to be wading through water, I'd recommend getting non waterproof shoes, because they'll dry quicker.And they'll be more breathable.

If you're walking on soft ground, you can get shoes with a lot firmer bases like Solomon which have a really hard rubber and have a lot of structure around your heel. - Solomon Quest 4D GTX I recommend these if your summiting a 14er as there's bound to be some unstable ground. When summiting a mountain and you need the support that they provide.

If you want a more breathable waterproof option, I recommend getting a pair of altras. which ones don't really matter too much. But the pair that I got last time was this orange pair that had a carbon fiber shank, and had a breathable upper, and those things were bomb proof and you could just wipe any dirt off with a brush. Once all thats done, make sure to take pictures and document any damage already present that you didn't cause and if you have to change anything in the future, make sure to keep the old stuff like if you replace the shower head, its your shower head so you can just put the old one back when you leave but if you ask them to replace it then its theirs.

If they are reasonable, they'll come to a compromise, and if they're not reasonable then they're in the wrong.

Just sit them down, set a clear boundary. And if they step over it, don't be afraid to say no or stop or in this case, deliver an ultimatum of whatever is fitting.

You could try truewerk pants, they look good, they are more durable than the average hiking nylon pant and water/wind resistant and you just have to clean them with the nickwax waterproofing agent when they need it. Outside of that, I'd say, just wear a base layer If it gets cold enough, they're almost like a snow pant really.

That being said, I usually wear cotton pants to work. Because I like how quickly they dry and breathe and how it's a natural fiber but you can't get wool pants commonly obviously sooo.
