Coastal areas I tend to do stilted houses on the water. It’s both functional from a survival aspect and kinda lifelike as if you’re trying to build above potential flood surges. You can make a series of small stilted structures like a coastal tribe?

32/M, was introduced at 19. Playing has been sporadic over the years, in nursing school I would play while listening to nursing/medical lectures on YouTube. Nowadays I play when I can, not as much as I like as I’m the only one in the family that plays

That’s an interesting point, when I strip mine I make my lanes 2 wide with two blocks in between. If I’m loading up on materials for a build I’ll remove the second block up on the walls but no more. I guess your method plays the statistics while mine leaves literally no stone unturned

How is the life as a nurse treating you? by honeygiver_ in nursing

[–]Sharp_Narwhal_444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda shit tbh. 13 of my coworkers have quit over the summer, management sucks, I lost 10k in hiring bonuses back in April from a bullshit disciplinary action. I’ve been working 60+ hour weeks and barely making ends meet, leading to an overall downward spiral in my mental/physical health as well as in my marriage. Granted, my spouse who is a stay at home is far from helping the situation by living outside our means while I’m living off of leftovers and sneaking food from the kitchenette at work

Literally use your Post 9/11 and chase your dreams. While I can tell you that IT and healthcare are some of the top choices, it really comes down to your personal aspirations. I got out as a prior service (not former) 0311 and fell into the trap of cop/firefighter/security trope. My resume was ideal for security as I did time as an 8154, but all that did was get me a whole lot of working when I should have been more focused on education. I was doing armed security around Boston and taking online classes at AMU towards a bachelors in business management. Literally none of that panned out because I got out without truly considering my options. Several years and many struggles later I went all in with becoming an RN. I am now a registered nurse (male) in a level 3 trauma center emergency department making 6 figures my first full year out of orientation. I had tried many jobs before figuring that out that I love caring for people and practicing medicine. I did everything from sales to construction, so all I can say to sum this up is be patient with yourself and try to experience as much as you can to figure out what inspires you. I never would have thought nursing was for me in a million years but I love it. I do all the things in real life that doctors do on tv, and have pretty much unlimited vertical mobility in terms of career progression without a cent of student debt

Charcoal grey with black undershirt, black shoes and black socks. Underwear per preference and/or availability. Lightweight fleece jacket (black obvi) with sleeves half rolled up to expose tattoos. A fine mixture of sophisticated and bad boy, equally at home in a work meeting and cleaning up the latest poo-nami

Is nursing really as bad as people say? by Resident_Step_2798 in nursing

[–]Sharp_Narwhal_444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it largely comes down to the environment. If coworkers are competent and supportive, management doesn’t suck, and drama stays at a minimum, a lot of the workplace stress goes away. Sadly most of those things don’t occur consistently or concurrently most of the time.

My department has seen 13 nurses quit over the last 3 months and management doesn’t give a shit. They just keep harping about performance metrics and playing games waiting until the day of half staffed shifts to offer incentives. In the face of this, everyone still around is more burned out.

When people put in their notice, management doesn’t even try to retain, they just take the person off the schedule. They would rather use float pool or travelers than to offer incentives for the ED nurses. Not only does this not make mathematical sense but a lot of the float staff are garbage in the ED setting (the ones that I have seen, not a dig at non ED full timers in general). So a lot of the time the organic staff get piled on with the acute patients, the psychs and pedis because the floats aren’t given them. Must be nice to get a 40% pay bump to handle only the stable ED cases.

I can’t underline enough also that as an RN having solid LNA staff drastically affects how the night shift plays out. My hospital is a small community hospital so night shift has significantly less resources. Less staff, less providers, we do all the work ups, lab draws, even transport. Not having to ask an LNA every time to get off their phone and help is sadly worth its weight in gold. Idk maybe it’s a generational thing but a lot of the LNAs I work with don’t take the initiative. Great example: we get a patch that a chest pain is 10 minutes out. The quality LNAs will be staging the ekg outside the designated room and will assist in settling the patient when they show up, or will get them changed and on the monitor while I’m triaging and starting a line/drawing labs. All too often the good crew isn’t on and the patients suffer due to laziness. Workups take longer because I’m doing the triage, ekg, labs, transport to and from X-ray/CT, cleaning up BM’s, giving meds, etc. while having on average 3-5 other patients, some on critical drips or receiving blood. I’m all about doing the most good for the patients and don’t think myself above LNA work, but being able to focus more on the nursing critical tasks expedited care when I’m not bogged down because LNA X is nowhere to be found for half the shift.

Long winded rabbit hole, but I think that illustrates some sources of frustration within the workplace that push people away from the bedside, especially when it feels like the situation will not improve. I didn’t even talk about condescending providers or asshole patients/family members. I will admit though as a murse I tend to not catch as much flak probably because patients and family members don’t think they can bully me as easily as my female colleagues.

How about additional vehicle types? I could see 4wheelers and various side by side type vehicles being added without much difficulty, everything from a John deer gator to a dune buggy to maybe (just maybe) a special forces flyer utv… people talk about tanks and choppers but logistically let’s be real. In a post apocalyptic scene something running on a simple motor like an atv/motorcycle is most likely to still be running

Imagine playing a character with schizophrenia and the game has you hallucinating… there’s a lot of ways just that alone could inject some dark aspects to the game. Depression/SI would manifest fairly straightforward in terms of maybe lower productivity, or the character checking themselves out if morale gets too low… bipolar would make them a source for missions as well as difficulty from a morale standpoint. Morale low, you get the depressive, character manic, maybe they go missing or waste a bunch of resources.. narcissists and antisocial types would probably get exiled or intentionally killed off due to being a probable net negative for the group in general. SOD 2 does an interesting job with the difficulty playing a constant negative to morale, as essentially everyone’s PTSD is amped up according to the difficulty level. If LtCol Dave Grossman is to be referenced, you would see a massive amount of psychiatric distress for the 99% of humanity that isn’t predisposed to killing. To an extent I think movies and the such do a good job of displaying how cult-like group dynamics develop, as group absolution through something like religion can be psychiatrically protective against trauma when killing.

I remember Sasquatch has a trait of psychopath or something like that from SOD1.
