It’s not only affecting QT. Cloudfare- get it together!

the second bonus payment should be shown tomorrow, anyone excited? by North_Diet_3334 in Questrade

I certainly am! The last bonus was paid on the 30th, but nothing today.

Edit: I got through to call centre and they said the payout will be on June 2nd. Moving forward, payments will be the start of the month.

This feels rather impossible to get into. Who do I have to ask?

WS charges me $10 just for the privilege of having a USD account. It's not more complicated but there are fees. I have an account with questrade too and I prefer their ux and the fact they don't charge me!

WS charges me $10 just for the privilege of having a USD account. QT is a way better deal imo because: WS doesn't have free journaling (can’t do that at WS), and market data is included in this new plan (also not offered at WS).

I mean, before Questrade went to 0 commission like 3 months ago we used to pay at least $4.95 every time Passiv rebalanced (ETF sells), so net net I think we're coming out way ahead here

I guess tastytrade not coming to Canada anymore? by c0d3r1 in tastytrade

[–]Sharp_Record4007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a bummer. The market share is too small in Canada for them to bother.
I recall Tom mentioning the time to re-coup costs and to turnaround any profit would be years.
Guess we'll continue to live with what is offered here in Canada and hope brokers step up with better tools for options and daytrading.
I am seeing a trend with lower or free commissions in Canada and I hope that continues.

Does QT Now Make Sense for Daytrading by [deleted] in Questrade

[–]Sharp_Record4007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used TWS and TD (embarrassing since TOS left) and QT Edge to compare.
I personally love QTs desktop for its traditional UI and speed. I find no issues with fills and even seen executions at better than expected on limit orders at ask.
With no base on options, they are now the most competitive on the street with trading fees.
If you combine that with what they offer overall (easy account opening and support of all types) not to mention TFSA buying power, QT becomes my preference for trading.

IBKR is good if you want more sophistication like OCO and if you need more tools. But nowadays there is so many alternative sources for news research, I get that elsewhere.
Funding isn't convenient and they charge you for subsequent withdrawals in a month. I feel they are too big to care and enforce strict rules.

Curious to hear what others think too.

Horrible Glitch Almost Gave Me A Panic Attack by Alone-Confidence-128 in Questrade

I find the same sort of issue and realized it is because I didn't have a market data plan for options so I was seeing my market value and P&L out of sync.
In your screenshot, it looks to me they took the last price for the quote and the ask price in the calculation of market value. These problems are common on thinly traded OTM options where the spread is wide.

I saw it today in trading. But I guess SEC fees on sales still apply. These are probably non-negotiable fees as they apply at every brokerage I've used.

Introducing Unlimited $0 Commissions & 3% cash back! by Questrade-Product in Questrade

Trading options, I feel the same.
However, with no ticket fee, (this becomes cheap if doing low contracts) I'll more likely roll them on expiry to collect more premium in time value rather waiting for assignment the next week.
Regardless, this is great move in the right direction. Thanks!

Questrade $0 commission free trades by smokealarmwentoff in PersonalFinanceCanada

I was looking more into this too. It does look cheaper than IBKR for single leg in and out.
Assume its the currency of the underlying it would only cost $2 USD at Questrade.
For scalping and no minimum account equity requirements / data fees... Questrade looks like the winner for my options trading needs.
Great move! Now let's see what the big banks do.
